Was in a Well Shielded Area and Still Did a Terrible Job
The quality appeared to be decent enough when I installed it under my deck last summer to house a QuinLED Quad controller and its associated PSU, etc. It has a design like any other wiring box. Has some cutouts for running lines in and out; I had to drill a couple of my own and install new grommets. Not a huge deal. Wiring was a little tight, but I was conservative in size and went for a smaller box for under my deck. It mounted up easily enough- that's just driving the screws into the beams. The issues started this winter though. My controller would randomly drop off, freeze up, etc. I would go crouch under the deck to unplug everything and re-plug it. Finally in 4 feet of snow the controller completely dropped out. I had to wait a couple weeks for everything to thaw. I was finally able to get outside and check under the deck a few days ago in the pouring rain after I noticed that some of the LEDs it controls were on anomalously, and what do I see? This box is *wide open* with both latches popped and everything exposed to the rain trickling down from under my deck. I have a raised deck surrounded by shrubs where this is mounted. There is no excuse for the *abysmal* quality of these latches. The rubber gasket was completely blown out, and everything inside was far more wet than it ever should be. Likely $100-$200 in components I now have to replace, and that's assuming that the LED strips didn't blow out because of shorting, in which case the number is going to go farther up. This box is a toy at best. It apparently couldn't handle drips coming between the slats of my deck or even the mild wind that made it under there between the arborvitaes before the latches just gave up. Absolute trash that cost me no small amount of money. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
