I have a private rooftop deck that receives direct sunlight throughout the day. I’ve often wanted to go onto the deck with my computer, but because of the sunlight, can’t see the screen. I just needed something that provides a little bit of shade, but allows me to still enjoy the sun as I want it. I bought this product and I am blown away by how perfect it is! It’s easy to set up and it’s maneuverable so that I can adjust it as the sun moves while keeping my computer constantly in the shade. It also provides me a little bit of shade if I need it, when I get too hot. I can’t understand why I’ve waited so long to look into getting something like this and I’m very very pleased with the product, it’s quality and it’s cost. It even comes with a bag in case I want to travel with it. Highly recommend!

I bought this to add to my low beach chair for when I sit with my toes in the water while on Lake Huron (in Michigan) in August. I loved the multiple points of adjustment to get the maximum angle of coverage. The asymmetry of the umbrella itself allows you to still have an unobstructed view while sitting & watching something (which may or may not be best for other people who used it on strollers, wheelchairs or kid wagons & needed more overall coverage) but for me it’s perfect-I think the adjustment capability would have made it able to work for those needs if I had purchased it for that. I feel like the sun protection from the umbrella itself overhead is good but of course will not do anything to protect from the sun reflection on the sand (so I still was wearing sunscreen)The plastic clamp was easily adjustable, it seems reasonably durable but is at risk of being too tightly clamped & may crack at some point simply b/c the plastic isn’t the highest grade but with reasonable care & being careful not to aggressively over tighten it, it should last. The traveling case with the shoulder loop makes for easy carrying. Over all it’s a good fit for my needs & if you need portable shade option on an inexpensive traveling fold up chair this works great.

I’ve used this umbrella consistently over the last 3 years and mostly on the beach. It does a great job in windy conditions, is easy to adjust, and provides great quality shade. The fabric isn’t thin, so the shade feels more protective from the sun than lighter fabrics. I have size XL (in navy blue) and attach it to my beach chair. It provides ample shade for one person but you can also squeeze another person or dog in the shade with you. This umbrella is not heavy and easy to transport. Sometimes I attach it to my backpack and bike with it. I would give 5 stars but sadly, after 3 years of use, it broke. The part that broke is the button you have to press that keeps it in an upright position (near the clamp). The button is stuck in the upright position, so it won’t lock into place. Without this working, I have to hold the umbrella up or else it falls towards the ground. I might buy another since it has been such a great umbrella, or look into other options. I highly recommend as long as you’re aware that the clamp/buttons for adjusting are not the best quality and will likely break within a few years.

This universal self-mounting sun shade idea is a good one. If you don't want to commit to the bulky and costly folding chairs with the sun shades, this is definitely a good option. It will attach to the tubing on any camping or folding chair (I have many types and have found a place to attach it on all of them). It does block sun, and is easy to fold and light weight. HOWEVER, at least mine, is really quite flimsy. The arms and locking mechanisms could have been better with possibly better quality joint fixtures and thicker tubing. Every position I put it in, it rocks and sways. You have to account for this when trying to get it centered right. It rocks a lot with even gentle breeze or movement in the chair. I do wonder if I just had bad luck with mine, but bottom line is it has a lot of sway and flimsiness to it and I wish it was more solid. I think it could have been accomplished too with some thought. Maybe the next version will be built better?? I won't be buying another just to check. I've decided to just get a nice outdoor hiking/sun hat to supplement :-/.

looks great and its awesome. you can literally get it to work at any angle. however keep in mind that its not very lightweight. if what its clamped onto is not a solid hunk of metal, it tends to slide around a bit depending on how you position it / how windy it is. most sport/lawn chairs have metal rods but theyre covered with fabric so if you were to clamp it on, the umbrella will tend to slide forward or backward slowly. however, it works if you can sit by a fence or table and have the umbrella partially learn on something. and it looks cool. got a few people asking where i got it from already.

O.K., I got this today and just HAD to run out into our 99 degree sun to try it. I fried while working on it. It took three attempts to find an appropriate spot to attach it to my chair. It then took a little longer to get it appropriately attached to the chair solidly. Initially it was not tight enough and kept falling out of position. It took several tightening turns to get it finally solidly attached to the chair. When you are tightening, you need to be very careful, since they are plastic. If you get too aggressive, I can see the plastic cracking. Soo, if you have a heavy hand, crank it down. My chair has a square connect point, which makes it easier to grip and hold. If I had a ROUND connection point, I would add velcro (beady side of velcro) to the inside of each mouth. This should give it some more gripping strength, so that it does not slip on the round surface, without unduly affecting the mouth opening capability. Velcro glue is pretty strong, so it should stay there for a long while. The other alternative is to use an 'anti slip' tape, which is available on Amazaon ( Yorwe Anti-Slip tape is the cheapest ). Yes, you are spending more money to make this work better for you, but if you want it potentially 'better', it's your choice. Doing an Amazon search of 'metal gripping material" will show you all types of gripping tapes. On another note, yes, the 'XL' size is the way to go, if you want the most shade. Don't buy the regular size. I am 250 lbs, big sized, and I had shade on upper body and covering my legs, which was precisely what I wanted. Of course, as with everything, I had to do some adjusting to get to the point. One thing that I will mention is that this thing and kids goofing off around it most likely would not do well, as it is fragile. This includes putting it up and adjusting it.
