Altough a little challenging to put together, it works really well. The adjustment is based on the height that you place the waste tray. The waste tray holds a large amount of waste water which allows for fewer cleanings. Only draw back is the drain (back to the tank) can be noisy. I'm experimenting with sponge to silence it.

This is it. This is the one to buy right from the get go and save yourself the time of repeated buying I had some leaking and needed to take apart and put back together. I added some Teflon tape for added security. A few pinches of the hose to get it primed and it was up and running! Took some tweaking and it started pulling a good foam. I am so so happy. The micro bubbles slowly improve so relax if you are worried. Just play with the air intake until you get it right. Make sure that it is wide open to start. It IS the best and I was so hesitant to swallow that price. Not anymore. The collection cup could not be any easier. Do it. Came back to add one week in or so and microbubbles are gone and I have the collection cup to the right level to pull a slow thick skimmer or whatever it called lol! It stinks! My water friends are happy to not be sucking that in! Works perfectly. Take your time and fine tune.

I received this Reef Octopus Classic 1000 HOB bundle and it was defective straight out of the box. The motor did not function properly and the unit could not maintain proper water flow, which caused the skimmer to overflow and spill water. This is extremely dangerous for a reef aquarium — it can cause flooding and damage livestock. I followed the instructions exactly. This was not user error — the pump simply did not work correctly and the skimmer was unusable. I immediately returned the product, but the seller is now refusing to issue a refund, even though the item was clearly defective on arrival. This was a very expensive piece of equipment and this seller is putting customers at risk by shipping faulty units and then refusing to stand behind them. I strongly recommend NOT buying this listing unless you want to risk receiving a broken unit and then having to fight to get your money back.

excellent 👍 Just make sure when you first start it that the out chamber is all the way open so it doesn’t overfill. Year old reef tank started skimming immediately no break in
