Kidde Quick Connect Smoke Detector Adapter Plug, Smoke Alarm Wiring Harness, Compatible with Kidde Hardwired Smoke, Carbon Monoxide, & Combination Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors

For whatever reason$, Kidde changed up the wiring harnesses and connectors on their newer hardwired detectors so if you are replacing existing hardwire Kidde detectors that have reached end of life, you either need to re-wire them with the new stuff (provided with the detectors) or make it super-easy on yourself by buying one of these adapters for each detector you are replacing. These cost less than $5 bucks at h*me d*pot but good luck finding them in stock. for a ~55% premium (I paid $7.77 per) I had them from Amazon in less than 2 days. Unless you have absolutely no idea what you're doing (no judgment here!), changing out the wiring harness DIY is a very doable job, but unless you're extremely quick the time savings these provided were well worth $7.77 a pop. And if you don't know what you're doing with electricity (again, no judgement here) you'll essentially eliminate any risk of shock/electrocution using these in lieu of rewiring, again well worth it at under $8 per detector. It took me about a minute to swap out each detector using these adaptors and I didn't have to worry about screwing up...to remove the old harness and rewire the new probably would have taken me about 10 minutes per detector conservatively, not counting cussing at dropped tools and wiring nuts, the annoyance of having to cut power for a while, etc. If you can afford it and/or value your time at more than 50 cents per minute or so, save yourself the headache and buy these. And if you are considering hiring an electrician to wire some new Kidde detectors for you to replace your old ones, this will save you a ton of money and I promise it's easy enough to do yourself. Tested all 7 smoke detectors in my home after installing with these adapters and they worked as expected including interconnection of alarms. Knocked out a job I had been putting off for 2 weeks in less than 20 minutes and enjoyed the rest of the weekend with no chirping (both from the old alarms or from other members of my household annoyed I hadn't replaced them yet).

No rewiring needed. just attach it and it works. did it to my 2016 kidde to a new Kidde code one. super!

These connectors make installing the new smoke detectors a piece of cake. No wire nuts required. Definitely worth the money.

Worked great and was easy to install — fits perfectly with the Quick Connect system. I appreciated how straightforward it was to set up without any hassle. The detector seems reliable and gives me peace of mind. Unfortunately, it went out of stock when I needed more for other rooms, so I wasn’t able to get extra units right away. That was a bit disappointing, but the one I did get works exactly as expected.

Absolute life saver. Very easy to connect new replacement model to the older models wiring connection.

I wasn't sure if I'd need these adapters but ordered them with my Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors, just in case... I'm sure glad I did. When you climb up to change a chirping detector because it's over 10 years old, you don't want to have to re-wire the new one to fit. These adapters fit the new detector and old wiring harness easily. Just a little push to be sure the connection was secure, pushed up into the electrical box and it was good to go! Well worth the extra few $$ to save a lot of frustration. (They should include the adapters with the new detectors or make universal connections on all smoke detectors buy that's another debate)

Worked great, no need to rewire, just plug in and install.

Simple to use and plugs straight into new detector from 15-year old wiring. Let's hope that the detector never goes off unless the battery needs replacement.

As advertised. Did the job to hook up the different style of connection. Should have bought the two pack as the detectors I bought come in twos as well.
