The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Boxed Set (3-Book): The First Codex

After Harry Potter it took a while for my son to find a serie he loved, that one is one of them now. It is very well written and the cover in this edition is really beautiful better than the more modern one which is cheaper. The box set is lovely but now we have to buy the next 2 books : the necromancer and warlock. Books to read and re-read!

Bought as a birthday gift for my granddaughter, she thoroughly enjoyed them.

I gifted this to my sister after purchasing the audible version for myself. I enjoyed it so thought she would too, she did and ended up getting the next 3 in the series. Really well written books and very believable we were both hooked from the very start.

Bought these for my Harry Potter mad son and he absolutely loved them.

they are really beautiful books, the covers are soooo pretty and of course, the content, as good as expected. loved it !

My grandson loved this for his birthday, and it was gift wrapped really nice in the bag.

If these books attended a party, in the first 15 minutes they would be standing alone. The name dropping of famous people is ridiculous, there are only a couple of characters that are original all the others are people from the past. My grandson read the first and half way through the second before he gave up. I heard him muttering at one point that the sun was not made of fire, but the last straw was a sentence that stated that an animal has been around before the planet. He is 11 and knows how the solar system works so to him this was absurd. All fantasy should be set in truth or it makes no sense. After asking around it seems that all three books were made up of nothing more than the two central characters running away bumping into shakespeare et al on the way. I would not recommend this series due to my grandsons boredom with them.

I rarely have enjoyed three books so much and am off to buy the next three. I know a little bit about alchemy, more about mythology, so it was wonderful to get a glimpse into a different approach to both. The twins carry the books well but the Flamels and supporting characters are great. I'm hoping we get another glimpse into Mars Ulthor's life. And how are they going to get Joan and Scathach back??

My 12-year-old son had not previously read books by this author but when he received these for Christmas, he was glued to them! He now wants to buy more like this.

My sons - ages 8 and 10 when they read these books - loved these books. This set was purchased as a gift for another child who loves to read because my kids wouldn't let go of their copies. My kids tell me that these books had wonderful plots and were written in a way that held their interest Summary from my kids: There are a pair of twins who are the most powerful people ever. One is destined to save the world and the other is destined to destroy an ancient world - the "bad" world. Nicholas Flamel and his wife are looking for these twins their entire life and are guarding the codex which has the knowledge to destroy the world or save the world. Magic, sorcery are the main themes. Appropriate for kids above age 9 or 10 in general, possibly younger if they are good readers. Excellent tween level writing. Certainly gripping for my kids. This is just the first part of the series - there is another set of three books that follow. Highly recommended.

Ich hoffe hier erwartet niemand Rezensionen zu allen drei Büchern ;P Diese kann man ja wunderbar bei den einzelnen Büchern nachlesen. Ich wollte einfach mal meine Meinung zu dieser Buch-Box loswerden. Es besteht ja öfters das Problem, das Buch-Boxen, die mehrere Bände umschließen aus "schlechterem" Material gemacht wurde. Hier ist das aber nicht der Fall. Die Box ist stabil und schick. Die Bücher sind aus gutem Papier und die Buchrücken sind sehr weich, wodurch die TB beim lesen nicht knicken - so etwas kommt bei Mass Market Büchern oft vor! Alles in allem also für den Preis ein kleiner Schatz fürs Buchregal! :)

Michael Scott has woven the tale of lengedary Nicholas Flamel with his wit and wisdom so alluring that you will feel the urge to read this book ASAP. Obviously I took the book everywhere I went I started reading whenever I got the chance. It tells the tale of the Alchemyst his wife Perenelle, the twins and their immortal enemy Dr John Dee. Book has all the moment of mystery, magic, twists and turns some historic facts and some legends. All together it's a book worth reading if you are a fan of fiction genre.
