The best harness I've ever bought!
The best harness, and the best company. My dog is a mix breed little dog (7#s) with an awkwardly thick chest, short legs, and more attitude than intelligence. I love the harnesses my large dogs had, and I've always felt like small dogs don't have nearly as good harness available. I've struggled to find a harness that fits him that isn't one of those cloth ones, which still never fit right and always left an awkward gap in the front. This harness has been a total game changer and I donated all the others that I had. I recommend being sure to measure your dog for the best fit. I measured my little man and this harness is PERFECT. We've used this harness every day for the past 4 months and it has held up great! It functions well in summer and winter, and I was easily able to adjust the straps based off him wearing his winter clothes or before a haircut vs after. The hardware is well made and easy to use, I struggle with my fingers sometimes with the old snap to buckle ones and this one is perfect! No awful Velcro getting stuck in his hair, no difficult to open buckles, no struggling to unsnap him after a walk. The cloth parts are well sewn together and the color is beautiful! This harness is so well made, and I can tell it will last for a long time. It feels like the safest harness I've ever owned, and I feel secure that he won't be able to slip out of it. While we don't use the traffic handle for traffic (he's very short) I love that I can use it to hold on to him comfortablly when holding him or when trying to control this 7 pounds ball of fur and fury. I HIGHLY recommend trying this harness. And I will not hesitate to purchase more in the future.

Finally Found THE One. Best harness I’ve owned.
I initially ordered size 5 because I followed the sizing chart and my dog is a shepherd husky pit mix, and she’s barrel tested (but fit/athletic) so I figured automatically I’d have to size up, but I actually had to send size 5 back because it overwhelmed her. The straps were too wide for her body/frame and she weighs like 50lbs. Size 4 was a lot more proportional to her body. the leather strap was smaller on this size also and she had less weight overall on her body. I’ve had it for a year now and it looks like the day that I got it. Easy to spot clean if ever needed with some warm water and dish soap. The materials are truly premium. Thank goodness. But I figured with the price tag, it better be. my dog is very strong and she pulls sometimes when she’s excited. I trust this harness and its construction wholeheartedly after a year of putting it through NYC’s different seasons. I love the metal buckles. I feel like whoever designed this Made to Roam harness is also a dog owner who understands the different shapes that dogs can come in, which allowed them to engineer a harness that can fit a wide range of body types based on what I’ve seen in other customer images and the shape of my own dog. I’ve owned many different types of harnesses including the tactical military looking ones but in the heat, they overheated her and she panted more than normal with those. This harness however , has just the right amount of material and comfortable straps and the two metal buckles don’t add much weight but they are very heavy duty and well made. The black paint on the metal has no signs of wear or paint chipping off which is very satisfying given what I paid for this harness. It’s not just advertising, this company truly poured love into this harness and it shows. They are detail oriented and it shows in the product itself and the packaging. The ‘leather’ handle itself has also held up amazingly after a whole year (it was the only piece that I was worried about how it would hold up). Even after being in the rain, It dries pretty fast within a few hours. It’s supportive and ergonomic, and does not inhibit my dog’s mobility in any way while still giving me the control that I need so that she doesn’t pull excessively. Her pulling has reduced greatly with this harness. Even though shes trained, she can at times be a stubborn puller when shes excited or there’s a lot of stimuli/ppl around. This has helped a lot with that issue. One critique that I have is that over time (not very often, maybe every few months), I had to retighten the straps but that’s normal after months of pulling. It’s not a frequent issue at all and doesn’t justify docking a star. It’s still the best harness I’ve purchased. My dog also kinda walks lopsided so it tends to shift to one side of her body, this issue was resolved with tightening it up a bit more than I thought. My dog also seems the happiest with this harness which is also a big part of how I rate items I buy for her. She seems calmer on our walks and pants less on hot days. That’s worth a lot to me after throwing money at different harnesses. I can also put it over (and under) her thinner fall and thicker winter jackets. The red color I chose is stunning against her blonde fur and makes her more visible at night. It’s a true red. Not too orange not too deep. It’s like a blood red in person 🩸 I’m actually glad it doesn’t have reflective strips as they can be an eyesore at times aesthetically. But of course safety first so I made sure to get a leash with reflective strips on it for visibility during night walks. All in all, it’s minimal, very heavy duty, outstanding craftsmanship. Excellent, even stitching. High quality, strong AF metal buckles that still manage to be lightweight. They’ve never come undone on their own. The D ring itself is also very strong and stitched with a lot of reinforcement. My dog loves it and I love it too. It also goes no where near her trachea which was a nonnegotiable for me! It conforms to her body rather than her body having to conform to it, which is a WIN in my books and the only harness to claim this achievement. I’m very pleased as a customer. I like to wait and own things for a while to truly get a feel for them before leaving a review. Now’s the time and this company earned these 5 stars. When in doubt size down? Haha at least in my case. It’s very adjustable. if you take the time to do it right the first time, you’ll rarely have to make time for readjustments down the line. I paired it with the “Short Traffic Dog Leash, Reflective Nylon Dog Lead, 18 inch” by ICEFANG (also on Amazon). This combination has been the best I’ve ever owned and I highly recommend it.

Great for bully breeds
9/28/25: I recently noticed some fraying on the harness, on the strap that goes around my dog’s belly. I emailed the company on Saturday, with pictures showing the area, and received a reply in less than a day. They are sending me another harness. I already highly recommend this harness before this experience, but if I could give it an even higher rating for customer service I would! I will be definitely be a repeat customer of Made to Roam products. I ordered a 2nd Made to Roam harness as a backup, after requesting the first one as a gift for my female APT. Yes, my MIL LOVES her grand pup and gets her Christmas presents every year 😊. I ordered size 4 for my 63# girl. Her neck measures 21" and her chest 27". Prior to this harness, we used the Rabbitgoo harness for years. I wanted a harness with less material for the hot summer months. This harness has much less material, while still fitting my dog securely. The padded straps stay in place and don’t restrict my dog’s movements as some other harnesses have. Despite trying many different collars, head harnesses, harnesses, and trainings, my girl still pulls A LOT on leash. I worry about damaging her throat where she pulls so hard on the leash, especially when she sees wildlife and other dogs. Buying this harness was more to protect her throat than improve her pulling on walks. I wouldn’t say it dramatically improved our walks, but the harness seems durable and prevents pressure on her throat from her pulling. My only wish for this harness would be having buckles at the neck too, so I don’t have to slide it over her head. My girl has the typical block head of an APT. Her neck is a bit smaller than her head, so the size that fits her neck can make it difficult getting the harness over her head. If I loosen the neck to more easily fit over he head, then it’s too big once on around her neck, and this harness is difficult to adjust once on the dog (who is wiggling around in excitement to go for a walk). I haven’t washed this harness yet, so I can’t speak to how well it holds up.. I do feel that it’s on the more expensive side. It feels like it’s made with high quality materials, so hopefully it will last several years. The harness in the picture is Vermont Weekends Size 4.

Love this company
In the past I’ve purchased a collar from Made To Roam so when I needed a harness and collar for my other pup it was a no brainer. Both their collars and harnesses are amazingly sturdy products that have been top quality for my Berner and my Poodle boy. The harness was easy to put on my deep chested (75ish lb) Berner and was really padded around her armpit area and neck. She fit a size 5 in both collar and harness perfectly with mild adjusting. Both the collar and harness fit beautifully together on her and the metal clasp design makes it super easy to click together without being worried it would break like most plastic clasps on other collars. It isn’t heavy on her and the beautiful colors are a big bonus! I don’t have a use for the handle on the harness but I’m sure there will come a time that I find a reason to as I free range her a lot so that’s also a cool feature to have. It’s subtle enough to not even notice though. I’ve ordered a lot of things from Amazon but this by far is the best company that I’ve discovered. 10/10 will purchase again when the time comes. (Attached is a video of my Berner with both the Marine Marina collar and harness on. Loovveeee!)

Metal buckles are the key
These are the only type of harnesses I buy now, and I've been through a lot. Metal buckles are the only way to go! I also like that it's adjustable in multiple ways. Just took off one star because there's no loop on the chest for fastening a leash, but I added a carabiner and it works okay. These seem to hold up well over time, still looks new.

Durable, comfortable harness for large/giant breeds
This is the second ROAM harness that I bought for my growing 95 lb. Cane Corso. I have always owned large and Giant furbabies, so Security, quality, and comfort are big factors for me. Typically, the larger the dog, the harder it becomes to find a strong, durable harness that has all the right requirements. I really like this harness for her. It is low enough that it does not choke her...she has a bad gag reflex. The material feels and has demonstrated that it is strong and durable. The various colors are beautiful, and I believe, unique. The padding seems thick, yet not to stuffy and seems to be in all the right places. My girl has not had any rubbing or chafing. She is hard headed, so we are still working on excitement and pulling issues. The small control handle has a leather cover, and although it seems small for the harness size, is quite effective in taking control. Amara, my pup, is extremely strong and the handle has yet to rip or even feel like it is about to give. The adjustment straps are nice and easy to figure out. They don't take you an hour trying to figure out where and how to tighten or loosen the harness. Much of the time you can tighten or loosen the harness while it is still attached to your furbaby. The sizes overlap a little, giving you some leeway in sizing while your dog is still growing. Obviously, I still recommend measuring your dog with the size chart for proper fit. The clasps that attach to each side are a nice, sturdy metal. My only issues with the clasps is that they sometimes take a minute to try to find the right angle to clasp and secure them in place. However, this is a minor issue for me. I have no trouble with my pup trying to slip out of her harness, as much as she may try. I won't say that there are not some expert escape artists out there and that this will definitely keep all dogs from slipping their harness. However, overall I believe it is a pretty good harness when it comes to escape artists. The width of the harness around the neck and chest, I believe, make it harder for dogs to get out of it. So far, I have not had a problem with the harness loosening while walking my wild child. I am very pleased with that. I have not had the fear of her harness loosening while out and about and her getting free. That has been a frustrating issue with many harnesses throughout my lifetime of owning dogs. Overall, I love this harness, and will continue to buy this particular harness for as long as I am able. Amara seems happy with it. It doesn't choke her. I feel less fearful that she will get out of it, and is made of strong and durable material.

Great harness except for dogs who pull excessively
I wanted to love this harness and I was excited after reading the reviews. We are fostering a dog who is a flight risk and pulls HARD. Unfortunately, the harness would stretch each time and I was never able to get it back to where he could wear it securely. I was retightening it multiple times a day but it never helped. If you have a dog that is trained, the harness is lovely. I really liked the cushion on the inside and the locks feel very secure.

The best harness and color out there!
Well this product is so nice that the 1st 2 sent to me were stolen. Smh I did have to return one due to the size but great purchas. The color of the harness and leash are beautiful and made really well. I have a boxer-pitt mix and he's 58lbs. Size 4 all the way open was tad bit too small so size 5 was it. I did have to tighten it a decent amount but not all the way. The clasps are metal but so easy to release. Easier than the plastic ones and not as bulky. I love how the 5ft leash has a hoop at the 2ft mark. Great for training or keeping dog close when needed without having to wrap my hand with the leash several times. My dog's 1st harness is 11 yrs old and I was leary spending so much on this one. But it's well worth it!! When putting it on, I keep 1 side closed and just slid it over his head, he auto lifts the 1 leg for me to pull it thru the hole and then I bring other side under and latch. When taking off, I undue 1 side and slips it over his head and your done. Love that style!! Oh and padding is super thick. So happy with this purchase!! I got the beige but the color is truly undescribable. It's like a golden slightly metallic beige, def 1 of a kind. So beautiful pic doesn't do it justice at all tbh.

High-Quality Harness for active dogs
We recently bought this harness for our rescue dog, who has just joined our family. We hike a lot, so finding a comfortable, high-quality harness was very important to us. We are very happy with our purchase. The harness fits him beautifully and seems very comfortable. It doesn’t appear to rub or restrict his movement, and the Y-shaped design gives him great freedom in his shoulders. The quality is excellent. The stitching is precise, the materials feel premium, and the metal buckles and hardware are sturdy, secure, and easy to use. The design is simply gorgeous. The colours are elegant, the overall look is beautiful, and we’ve already received compliments from people on our walks. We are planning to buy the same harness for our first dog.

Gran compra

Very Good Quality
This is by far my favourite harness. It’s light weight, strong and is padded. It’s the only one that fits my puppy properly that I have tried. It stays in place nicely as the many others I have purchased doesn't. It’s even great for small dogs that have a small scapular area.
