Missouri Meerschaum - Country Gentleman Corn Cob Tobacco Pipe - Bent Bit

So far it’s a great pipe. Bowl is not as big as they say it is but still good quality pipe from a good pipe maker.

Just a quick review. These dropped down to a good price (about eight clams each?) so I bought three to have on hand if a friend shows any interest in picking up a good habit of pipe smoking. For the money, a corncob can’t be beat. You might find a better smoke spending more, but you will probably find plenty of more expensive pipes that are not near as good, and I seriously doubt that you’d ever find a less expensive pipe that smokes better. Cool and dry—the corncob absorbs moisture well—and it’s not too heavy, but heavy enough that you feel like it’s a real pipe, and not a toy. The finish is even a bit overboard, if you ask me. It’s a bit fancied up, which to me takes a bit of the charm away from smoking a corncob. But don’t take that the wrong way. It still looks like a corncob. I love my corncobs. Not counting these three new standbys, I have two or three others in different places, just in case. Buy a few just to have one in each car, and in each jacket pocket.

Pipe is good. Large bowl. Stem is too small. Got a Forever stem for it. Game changer. Can’t use a filter if you go this route.

You get more than what you pay for with this pipe. I put a 6mm balsa wood filter in mine and it really helps cool it down. No tongue bite it all. I've heard others talk about the comfort of cobs, that they don't fit well it the hand compared to briars, but I found this one to be to my liking for a long smoke. You get a comfortable, tasty, cool smoke with this and it doesn't overheat. It's a great experience overall and for this price, you can't really ask for more. Great pipe for anyone wanting to start pipe smoking or for anyone already familiar with it. I'm satisfied.

I've been a Briar. smoker most of my adult life, (and a good portion of my childhood). But have you checked the prices of Briars these days? In an article about pipe types, which I picked up in an effort to figure out what all the reasonably priced "Briars" were actually made of, I read good things about corn cob pipes. The article said they smoke cool, last long, and can basically hold their own against any other smoking device. I'm delighted to say the article was spot on. I have thoroughly enjoyed smoking this pipe. It is easy to keep clean and smokes cool and tasty. At this low cost, I can afford to have a different pipe for each type of tobacco. This particular pipe is high quality and came right on time; thus the five stars.

This is what I settled on for my first pipe. I wanted to try puffing on some tobacco on the porch after work and letting my thoughts roam. Being made of corn cob I expected it to feel as light as paper mache but it actually has as much weight to it as wood does. The pictures doesn't let you see that it actually has a bit of a glossy finish to it so you can't quite feel the comb texture. Taking the black bit off was hard and you have to be careful to pull at the stem and not the bowl so you don't break it. It came with a filter inside that was pretty simple. I expected this to be a throwaway pipe until I got something "Good" but now I see myself putting that off a bit longer since this is way better than I expected. Would recommend as a first pipe.

Im fairly new to pipe smoking so I dont have much experience with different pipes. I will say that Ive bought a few hardwood pipes that it turns out did not smoke very well. I had thought that I was doing something wrong, but after trying this corn cob pipe, I can see that the pipes I'd been trying were just poorly made. With this corn cob pipe, Im much more easily able to keep the tobacco lit, get much smoother and cooler smoke, and virtually no tongue bite. The pipe is solidly built and I cant believe I didnt try this pipe first. For such a low cost, this is a fantastic pipe. Id also like to add that the corn cob pipe adds a faint but pleasant taste to the smoke. Kind of hard exactly to describe it but its very slightly sweet.

These are great pipes. I own two of these and have one with a straight bit. They are cheap, easy to maintain, and have a solid, heavy feel to them. I would recommend these to a friend who is thinking about pipe smoking.

The Country Gentleman is their very finest pipe in my opinion. I believe that anyone interested in smoking a pipe. Should own at least one of these pipes. (I have several). It delivers a cool dry smoke every time and requires minimal maintenance to keep it in smoking order. Your MM CG will be able to smoke several times in a day without causing you any problems if you need it to. It is a very sturdy piece and it won’t scratch or mark up easily. (perfect for chores and work in heavy duty environments) Buy at least one. You’ll wish you had more though after you get it.

Excellent for people who want to try pipe tobacco without spending too much straight away
