It is the same product I have always bought for cold sores, so I'm guessing it is the same product you have bought. It gets rid of the cold sores, if that helps.

Q: Is it suitable for children?

It does not say on the box or the tube that it is not unsuitable for children. I have just looked. There is not much in the tube. One only needs to put a tiny amount on the cold sore for it to be affective, and it works better when the sting first appears. It is not to be rubbed in I find, just put on. It is the best treatment that I have ever used.

Q: What colour is the ointment? Is it see through?

The ointment looks a brownie colour, but on application becomes transparent. It is excellent, and reduces the time to clear the cold sore .
