So far so good.
So, a little background to begin with. I took lessons as a child for 5 years, even winning awards. However, it's been decades since I've had a piano to play. About a month and a half ago, we got my mother-in-law's piano. I'm trying to reteach myself how to play. Our little boy just turned seven. What I didn't want was what was going to happen-little hands pounding on the keys with no purpose. I got this book and have just had my second official piano lesson with my son. It's really simple with nice illustrations. It goes very slow; first teaching about the keys and notes. It has helped me remember some of the basics like notes and staff-how many counts notes have. So far I'm very pleased and plan on getting part two if my son likes it and continues learning. As a side; if you're an adult willing to get a childrens book to either learn or refresh your memory, I would suggest this. I will update this when my son has more lessons.

Best and easiest beginners book for children
This is the best beginners book. I have tried different methods with my students, so far this one works best as for introducing notes on the staff from bass clef F to treble G. This book introduces note at the staff one at a time and works on both clefs from the beginning. It starts with middle C in treble clef and bass clef in whole, half, and quarter notes. Then students learn D and B, and time signature 4/4, 3/4, 2/4. Then it introduces E (treble), A (bass), F (treble), G (bass), G (treble) and F (bass). Includes read aloud and writing exercises. If the students do these exercises they will have good reading skill. Highly recommended.

Classic Beginner Piano Book
I remember the Thompson series when I was a kid taking piano lessons. Twenty-something years later, I see that they really updated the book to make it more kid-friendly. I see this book on the pianos in many houses, so I'm assuming it is one of the most widely used children's primers for piano. There are written exercises, detailed explanations, and familiar sounding songs. For advanced piano playing adults, they also include accompaniment's to play along. The tone of the book is encouraging and friendly, and meant to build confidence. I purchased the second book already as well.

Decent intro to piano
The only issue I have with this book is that they are not using the English terms for the different types of notes (quarter note, whole note, etc...).

This is a beginners book but you still have to know how to read music. You can’t just buy the book and expect to learn with this only. Lovely book, good quality. It’s a yes from me.
