Nice integrated bleeder - safer than a pull ring.
If you have been refilling the off-the-shelf 1-lb. propane tanks, then this product is for you. Why? Because refilling the single-use tanks is dangerous for three reasons: 1. The metal used to make the single-use tanks is thin. These cannot withstand the stress of pressurizing and depressurizing in repeated cycles. Sure, it may work a few times, but how many times before it decides to fail? 2. The bleeder valve on the single use tanks needs to be pulled with a needle-nose pliers. Sometimes these pull out completely and then the valve is open and the tank is trash. Sometimes these fail to re-seal and propane just slowly leaks out (check for bubbles with soap). This is why you should avoid storing these inside if possible. 3. ALWAYS check the top to make sure the internal rubber ring is installed and intact. If not, the liquid propane will gush out when you try to attach the tank to a valve. If there's a open flame or spark nearby, you will be engulfed in fire. I suspect that the rubber ring in the single-use tanks is not meant for long life and will eventually fall out. It happened to me and I lived through this exact scenario. It's just not worth the risk anymore. This is very EASY to refill thanks to a bleeder valve accessible with an Allen key. If you don't have tools and can't keep track of a standard Allen key, then go buy the Fuel Keg. Same idea but no tools required; you just pull a ring to open the bleeder valve. However, I prefer the security of a bleeder valve that cannot be opened that easily (and I have a toolbox with more Allen keys). You could also get creative and put a small hole in the outside ring of the plastic storage cap where you can store the Allen key. Or a tiny neodymium magnet on the side of the tank could hold your key. Some have said that the tank ring on the bottom/base is not right and the tank wobbles, you have a point! One of my two tanks came like this too. The tank bottom is touching my bench before the ring, thereby allowing the tank to spin or wobble. All they have to do is manufacture the ring ever so slightly wider/taller. Flame King sent me a new tank because of this defect, and they acknowledged that this might be an issue on some of their tanks. The new tank was fine. There are some one star complaints because these arrive with no propane inside. These are empty tanks meant for re-filling. It should be abundantly obvious these cannot be shipped with propane inside. Many are complaining they can't find a place to fill these tanks: kudos; it’s good when one knows their limitations, but this tank is meant for the more advanced do-it-yourself person! You either purchase the refill kit or make your own refill adapter. Then you can refill this using a 20-lb. propane tank from your BBQ, which IS a size that can be refilled or exchanged by your local dealer. If you don't have a 20-lb. propane tank or you have no clue how to handle propane tanks, then a refillable 1-lb. propane tank might not be a safe or viable option for you. Finally, you do NOT need the official Flame King refill adapter kit! You can buy brass propane fittings, brass pipe nipples, and a brass ball valve to make your own refill adapter. My DIY refill adapter works fine with these tanks. Fittings and valves; this is pretty basic standardized stuff. These are functionally no different than any other 1-lb. tank albeit easier to refill thanks to the convenient bleeder. Flame King is good quality and great customer service. Highly recommend.

Excellent Product for Convenient Camping
As an experienced camper, I recently stumbled upon this gem of a product, and it has undoubtedly made my camping experiences more enjoyable than ever before. I can confidently say that this 1lb tank is a game-changer in the world of outdoor cooking and heating. First and foremost, the build quality of these tanks is top-notch. They exude durability and reliability, ensuring that you won't have to deal with leakage issues or any safety concerns while enjoying your camping trip. Speaking of safety, using these refillable tanks also saves you from the risk of facing DOT fines associated with standard one-time use cylinders, making it an eco-friendly choice that aligns perfectly with my values. One of the standout features of this product is the ease of use during refilling. It's a breeze to refill them, and it's reassuring to know that I can refill them myself rather than being limited to disposable options. Not only does this contribute to a cleaner environment by reducing waste, but it also saves a considerable amount of money in the long run. With each refill, I estimate saving around $4.50, and it adds up significantly over time. These tanks are a perfect match for my camping lifestyle. Their compact size and portability make them ideal for overnight trips lasting 2 to 3 days. Unlike larger tanks that I used to carry around, I no longer worry about wasting gas because these 1lb tanks are perfectly sized for my needs. Additionally, they are easy to transport, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness in providing a small allen key for adjusting the vent, ensuring optimal performance. In conclusion, this product has earned its spot as an essential addition to my camping gear. The fast and easy filling process is a game-changer, and I can't stress enough how much I value its eco-friendliness and cost-saving benefits. As a seasoned camper, I wholeheartedly recommend these 1lb camping tanks to anyone looking for a reliable, safe, and sustainable solution for their outdoor adventures. It has truly enhanced my camping experience, and I'm confident it will do the same for you. Five stars without a doubt!

FINALLY, REFILLABLE ONE-POUND PROPANE TANKS so we don't have to use disposables!
We have used these during 6 weeks of car camping (when backpacking, we would shift to our MSR Whisperlite White Gas stoves). We teamed these up with the FlameKing two-burner stove and both the stove and the REFILLABLE bottles worked like champs (mostly, there were a few minor issues related to wind with the stove). I was able to use a simple and cheap connector for a 5 - 40 lbs propane tank to connect with these one-pound REFILLABLE bottles (connector sold separately) and everything worked easily and perfectly well. It was easy to fill these tanks (once I figured out the simple bleeder valve) although it required me to turn my propane tank on its head and position it next to a step where I could get the right angle for filling these tanks. BTW, some tank connectors you can buy come with a stand upon which you can place your larger propane (source) tank. In terms of use, we brought with us four full bottles to use over the 6 weeks. During that six weeks, we car-camped (used these as our only fuel source for all cooking) about 14 nights/days. Each day, we used them for breakfast (heating up water or more) and dinner (again, heating up water or more). We used both burners about 25% of the time. We used the burner on the lowest setting possible to get the job done but often were nearly maxed out. On rare occasion, we used both burners on max. I am guessing that we used the FlameKing stove (with these tanks) at least a total of 10 hours and we used up ONLY about 1.75 tanks. That means, we still had over two full tanks to go!! That's rather amazing. Did I say these are REFILLABLE? For years we resisted buying a car-camping stove because we would look in the trasn of campgrounds etc and see piles and piles of one-time use propane tanks. Given that we are camping to be closer to nature (and not destroy it), we just resisted buying these stoves and instead used our backpacking stoves (MSR Whisperlites... that were always refillable). THEN, we found these! And, initially hesitant, we bought the filler connector (between source and one-pound tanks) and the FlameKing two-burner stove. WOW! What a GREAT addition AND there's NO tank waste!! We just use these tanks until empty (again, many many hours of use at low flame levels or, according to Flame King, about one hour of use with BOTH burners set on Max). Then, when done, we just toss them in the trunk or roof box and bring them home to refill and reuse again and again. (Or, in a pinch, we could pay some nice RVer for a pound of propane and continue with a single tank.) So, this is one of the very few REFILLABLE TANKS on the market and they work absolutely great! Car-Camping is now glamping for us... with our FlameKing set up. Could not be happier.

Expensive, but works overall with a few quirks.
UPDATE 2/12/24: I got another pair and that pair had the rings done properly, so the round bottom of the tank does not make contact with the surface it's placed on and thus doesn't wobble. Flame King should put some more quality control into making sure it's done right as the bottles are used as a base in some applications, so wobbling around could be problematic. They're easier to refill than the so-called disposable tanks, largely due the bleeder valve, making it easy to get full in one go without having to do things such as freeze them. I weighed them afterwords, and I got almost exactly 1 pound. There are a few quirks to take note of. My 20 pound tank was half empty, so it did want to tip on me a bit when I was filling. I had the o-ring come out of one (got stuck on the fill adapter), but it was easy enough to reinstall. They are a bit on the pricey side (at the time of this review.) Also, the round bottom of both tanks are slightly lower than the welded ring causing them to wobble a little. BE SURE TO WEAR GLOVES THAT PROVIDE A THERMAL BARRIER! You don't want any liquid propane to get on your bare hands.

More Update- it is well worth the price.
I use them with my Flame King heater, and there is a world of difference from refilling throwaway cans. These can threads are brass (not steel), and mate perfectly with the heater brass fittings. Little danger of cross threading (from rough steel threads) and leaks. Also, they don't leak from either valve, when in storage. Refilled throwaways always leave propane scent in storage, after being bubble tested. These do not. ................ I bought two more of these because I have to use portable propane indoors for heat (Calif utility rates are unbelievable). I now refill them, 8 at a time, because setup takes most of the refill time. Please note that parts subject to leak on these are made of brass, which needs to be sprayed with a soap solution every time. Refilling throw-away cans is only for the foolish. Their orfices are made of steel, that rusts and corrodes. Their steel can is thin gauge, and rusts easily. Please do your homework on this. ............ I have a lot of Flame King products, and they are quality. They are also overpriced, and a lot cheaper at the mart store. I deducted two stars because it cost me too much. After using them more, and watching videos of cutaways of disposable and Mr Heater tanks, I like Flame King tanks a lot more, and give them 5 stars. It is all about safety, and disposable tanks not only leak with valves intended for short life, but also rust, and have thin walls. Mr Heater is better, but it has a secondary venting pin needed to vent, when refilling; simple is good, and I have no use for idiot-proof extra hardware, when Flame Kings simple Allen wrench does the same job, and is less likely to fail.

Perfect product. Just as expected!
Amazing Amazing product. Works perfectly as advertised. Sized just like a Coleman tank despite the added features of being able to refill it. Fits perfectly with every appliance that you can use a Coleman tank with. So much cheaper to refill than re-buying Coleman tanks. Pays for itself in like two refills.

Great portable and safe refillable propane tank
I love this product. Easy to refill with propane from 20 lb tank. Be sure to get the correct refill adapter. These portable refillable tanks are a little pricey, but will pay for themselves in the long run. These portable tanks are manufactured and certified to specifically be refilled and legally transported in your vehicle unlike the one time use Coleman portable tanks. Also, make sure you get one of the products to help support the 20 pound propane tank when it is upside down as I almost had one fall over off a table.

The only system that is designed to be refilled.
Best system for your SAFETY and PIECE OF MIND. A little pricy for initial investment, but well worth it. You can now legally cross boarders and transport LG propane because of the design and how these canisters are manufactured. Easy to use, and much safer than trying to play with a valve that’s not suppose to be tampered with to fill those “other” tanks. In my opinion, there’s no comparison.
