How long does the glow last?

It will generally last a few minutes, though the exact length of time will vary based on how concentrated your powder/liquid mixture is, as well as the temperature of both the room and water.

What is this powder made out of

>50% Sodium carbonate (monohydrate), >20% Sodium perborate (tetrahydrate), >20% potassium ferricyanide, and >20% luminol.

How long does the water keep its light after the powder is mixed in?

Perhaps half hour to an hour. Definitely not as long as those glow sticks, but looks spectacular in the dark, kids love it. Experiment with different container shapes, show how it pours, great stuff.
