These lights are really fantastic at this price IF you want pixel effects without paying at least £300 a tube! The other effects are great too, the light in general is great at this price, but be realistic, the pixels are 'good' - they are not high end, but they look good for parties and in videos. If you don't want pixel effects, then there are tubes with better quality lighting and diffusion costing only slightly more, but if you want pixel effects, then grab these, especially when they're on sale, I picked these up for £105 each! Well made, good mounting options, good carry case, app needs some improvement and I found it disconnects from the lights when using it in a live situation (unlike my Nanlite Pavotubes which stayed connected all night). Yes, I'd recommend IF you want pixel effects at a low price. (In the video, you can see these lights in front of the DJ)

I’ve been a photographer for many years, like my peers I have started seeing a shift recently from the use of strobes/flash to continuous lights. It makes it easier for hobbyists and people new to industry to see what they are going to get before they hit that shutter button! I purchased two of these lights to replace two LUXCEO 1.2m lights I had previously. The first thing to note is these Neewer versions are NOT waterproof, unlike the LUXCEO versions. What they DO have however is a far more advanced control system both on the device and on the app. In my eyes this easily makes up for the lack of waterproofing and you just need to take a little more care on outdoor shoots. The lights work with the Neewer mobile app and provide full control of CCT, RGB, special effects, etc. This makes these lights very versatile and can save a lot of time trying to colour match or change settings on the device directly. The build quality is far superior to the LUXCEO models too, with a strong frame and solid feel. Sadly there are also some cons to these lights. While the versatility, design, and build quality are definitely an improvement on my previous lights these Neewer versions do seem to lack power. Having tested them in a variety of professional settings they give out gorgeous true tone colour, but you need complete control of the ambient light in your surroundings as any light findings its way in will dilute these and wash out the deep colours you are attempting. Despite the obvious benefits of these lights they just didn’t give me the power I would expect, and this is of course the key when getting the desired finish. I ended up returning these lights and I spent a little bit more replacing them with Nanlite Pavotubes. These are professional grade, high quality lights, and if you can get them on a special offer (usually a few times a year these are featured on various sites) they still cost more, but give you better value for money based on the results you can get. I run the Pavotubes at 40% brightness and get beautiful deep colours, an even spread, and they show their value despite being more expensive. If you are looking for a portable, functional, and versatile RGB tube that’s easy to use and gives a good quality of light for home use, small controlled light studios, and projects, then these Neewer lights are a great purchase! I was genuinely impressed with them! If however you are a professional photographer and need more power, and more control in a wider range of shoots, then I’d recommend spending a little more and going for an alternative.
