i'm middle aged, so when i got an offer to upgrade my internet to 2.5g speed, i had no idea i'd need an adapter. thank goodness they make tech like this for people like me, simple plug-and-play devices that require no tech skills or smarts. just MAKE SURE you have a 3.0 USB port. most modern PCs and laptops have them (after 2018-2019ish), but make sure before buying. the port should say 3.0 above or next to it, or you can google your PC model and find out whether you have 3.0 ports. trust me, i experimented plugging this adapter into a regular USB port, and it didn't work--no 2.5g download speed. but i put it in the 3.0 port, and presto, my speed was something like 2.7, even a little faster than advertised. it's a solid little unit, well built, some folks say you need to update its drivers but i didn't have to, it worked right out of the box (whew). it connected right away and i believe it's compatible with all Windows devices that have a 3.0 USB port. whoever dreams up and makes these handy little USB devices for those of us who don't upgrade our hardware every couple of months, i give you my heartfelt middle-aged thanks.

Work and functions at 2.5Gb on Linux and Windows without having to find drivers for it - plug and play. Saves a lot of time being able to copy files to and from at 2.5Gb/s speeds.

I originally planned to use a PCIe slot for a 2.5 gig NIC card as an upgrade to the 1 gig LAN port on my micro ATX motherboard. But the video card I installed occupies too much space to use either of the two remaining slots. This dongle solved my problem, and allowed me to utilize the full speed of my internet connection. I plugged it into a USB 3.0 jack on the back of my mini tower. (while plugged into the faster USB 3.2, it caused problems with 'sleep' function.) I have not noticed any significant increase in usage of my 6 core CPU since installing this speedy adapter. It certifiably provides 2.5 gigs while running cool. (Its aluminum case is barely warm to the touch after streaming multiple busy tabs and videos for several hours). I hope it lives a long, productive life.

Quality and works well

I recently upgraded my network to 2gb but my machine only supported 1gbps. It truly is "plug and play" but you NEED to plug it in to a USB 3.0 port (blue) I have an available USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller gen.1 (much faster at 5gbps) but it would only give me 200mbps max. After I plugged it in to a regular 3.0 port it was giving me at least 2gbps. Very happy with this product. Edit: I've had this for over a week and it's now somewhat intermittent. I checked my speeds this morning and I was only getting 400mbps. I unplugged it then back in and then it shot up to 1.6gbps but then gradually sank down to 150mbps. I'll keep troubleshooting but it ultimately may not work due to the inconsistency.

Works great, using with my synology nas with modified drivers. Worked with my pc just plug it in and it was good.

crap doesn't connect it's not plug n play I plug it in to usb 3.0 and it didn't do anything didn't even register on my pc windows 10 and you have to download the driver which is WinRAR zip file and good luck doing that !! i gave one star because I can't give a zero! yes my ethernet cable lights up when I plug in to the adapter but that's all it does it doesn't connect to the EnterNet!!! update on this I got it to connect to the internet i have20.5gig Nic card 3gig fiber this thing does not run at the speeds it claims to I only get at best the same as i had without it 900 up 900 down I don't know if this needs a switch or a router to make it run faster!! still junk no support from manufacture!!! I'm not sure I want to try a different one to tryout after this fiasco!! update !!! even after using the rar download it still doesn't do full speed as it says it does still junk and a pain in the backside to get it to work !!!!

Been a few months of non-stop usage, works fine.

Works flawlessly on Windows 11 and Kubuntu 24.04 without having to look for any drivers! Clocks in at 2,5 Gbit as advertised just make sure that your router / switch also supports it! Some routers will state they have one 2,5 Gbit RJ45 socket and they usually mean the WAN connection to your internet supplier - NOT your LAN. Double check this before purchasing ;)
