Miss Lina's Ballerinas

Love this book for my 4.5 year old granddaughter...who has begun ballet lessons. It is fun, funny, and shows how one must not expect perfection in all pursuits. Enjoyment is key, as well as doing one's best. This is a wholesome, beautifully illustrated book...for a girl who LOVES pink!

Excellent book- great cadence, sweet story, perfect for young ballerinas.

My 2.5 year old daughter LOVES this book. I first checked it out from the library because she is a ballet fanatic, and we read it so much I purchased our own copy. The rhythmic cadence and clever rhyming scheme make it a joy to read. As I read it out loud, I stop before the end of each line and let my daughter supply the last word, which she shouts out with glee. Her favorite is to say the rhyming names of all eight girls, ending with an exuberant, "Nina!" The illustrations are enchanting, and my daughter loves pointing out the clothing, hairstyles and other little details. There is also some nice synonym usage in the book, pertaining to such words as fluxommed, perplexed,and befuddled, which has resulted in "mixed up and muddled" becoming one of my daughter's new favorite phrases! The concept of mathematical sets is an added bonus, which no doubt is also seeping into the 2-year-old brain by osmosis. I can see this aspect of the book becoming a jumping off point for learning more about sets as she gets older. Overall, a wonderful book that most any little girl would love, ballet fanatic or otherwise, that is especially suited for reading aloud together.

My daughter is 2 and a ballet fanatic, and she absolutely loves this book as do I. The entire book rhymes, which is super fun and reminds us of the Madeline books. The illustrations are so cute and the overall story is cute too. Love it

My 3 year old loves this book! It rhymes, is all pink, and teaches a sweet lesson. Oh and the watercolor illustrations are precious. A must buy if your little is into ballet!

I agree with another review that this book reminds me of the Madeline stories! This one is for my Granddaughter for Christmastime, and as she is interested in ballerinas I thought this would be perfect! She is 5 and is wanting to make her own friends, and that is what the basis of this story is, having someone new join you! The pink and delicate illustrations are just right for your own little ballerina, and not too wordy or complicated for a little one, with a singsongy kind of rhyming lyric running throughout! I did get the hardcover version hoping she will have it for years to come!

Beautifully written and illustrated. My 4 year old daughter LOVES this book - as does her older brother. It brings a smile to everyone's face whenever we read it I cannot recommend it enough

I get a real kick out of this story. Little boys loathe the story and won't sit still for it whereas little girls love it. It always sparks a conversation about their own personal experiences in a dance studio and how mean the little girls can be to each other.

Fast delivery! But sadly the book hat no cover protector and it was dirty and the edges were slightly damaged! I would returned but then it was too risky to have it on time to give it as a present. I had to do some magic to make it appealing to the birthday girl. Please next time cover your books!
