I love this kit!
This is my first book binding kit so I'm not an expert and I'm not looking for expert quality tools, but for me as a first time book binder, this kit is incredibly amazing. I cannot believe the number of tools that are included in the kit and so far, all of them work well. They are plenty good enough in quality period for my purposes, let alone at the price that I paid. I have made 10 pamphlets so far with the kit doing a 3 hole pamphlet stitch and the materials have worked perfectly. I am very happy with this product! It is even better than I was hoping for!

High quality and economical for a beginner
This is actually a very good quality set. This is the first time I’ve ever done any bookbinding, but it had everything I needed to get started. Highly recommend.

Almost Wonderful
This kit, unlike every other kit of any kind I’ve bought from an Amazon merchant with a goofy not-quite-English name, is very good. I almost gave it 5 stars, because the materials are much better quality than I expected: a metal ruler, a sturdy knife and paintbrush, text paper that feels good, and nice bookcloth for covers. I especially like the ruler, which has both Imperial and Metric units; in fact, one edge of the Imperial ruler is ruled in 1/10” and 1/100”. It’s so nice to measure and calculate in tenths, and sometimes I work with a client who really doesn’t want to do metric units. I held off on reviewing, though, until I actually made a book. The product has lost a star, but just one. Here are the things I found less wonderful: The bone folder seems to be shedding a powdery residue when I use it with pressure. It takes both rubbing and a bit of moisture to remove it, expecially from the bookcloth. You’ll need more glue. I have emptied one of the two included bottles while making just one A5 perfect-bound book. The boards seem to absorb a lot of glue very quickly. The glue is very wet. I haven’t used the parchment endpapers from the kit yet, but I’m concerned that covering them with glue as instructed will cause puckering. The clips included leave quite a mark when used on a text block. There are no written instructions. I know this is commonplace today, but for me it will always be a drawback. About the videos: Be aware that the playlists are out of order, and may include separate but fairly repetitive videos for making two book sizes mixed together in one list. Check the header of each video - not just the numeral at the beginning - to be sure you’re watching what you want. Also, auto play is activated. At least one of my videos seemed to have a large instructional gap, but I think it’s just that the auto play skipped what should have been the next video in sequence. I did find it later. If you’ve made books before, this kit is a nice way to freshen or add to your equipment, and you’ll have no trouble working through the processes. Do be aware that all of the instructions create books with the page edges flush with the cover edges. If you prefer your covers slightly larger, change the cutting sizes; I think you’ll have enough bookboard anyway. For real beginners, the limited instructions may be a hurdle. I particularly wish there were some clear “don’ts” in the instructions, such as “Don’t glue the text block spine to the cover spine.”; I don’t think that’s clear enough in the video. Also, the way the demonstrator cuts the cover boards is a bit wasteful, something to consider if you want to maximize the number of books you can make.
