Excellent Training device for super focused dogs
I bought this after all my other methods of training & correcting my GSD werenโt able to snap him out his hyper focused state to redirect him. Heโs a good dog, one of the best Iโve had but refining his behavior / obedience skills was mediocre at best. After some weighing of different methods I got this. It is a game changer! Just a very quick snap (not too much force is needed - the collar does all the work) and my 2 year old GSD snaps out of his hyper focused or distracted attention and looks to me for whatโs next. No more wandering off into the bushes to chase the ducks that drive him nuts, ignoring my whistle or tug on his martingale collar. He needed a more โbite likeโ sensation like a leader dog would do when ignored and this does it! Make sure you fit it properly, and only use it when on walks, actively under supervision during training sessions, and donโt leave it on them all the time as a regular collar. Itโs just to help give a more clear correction versus constant nagging. The quick release buckle is secure, and great for those who have hand dexterity issues like arthritis. Links are able to be added or removed or added as needed for proper fit. If you do have hand dexterity concerns, you might need someone to help you with removing the links. I didnโt find it difficult, but my hands were swollen and tired from working with dogs all day and my arthritis was acting up - so trying to remove the last link took a couple of minutes, so be aware if you struggle. Once the fit is right and you no longer need to mess with the links and the quick release buckle makes taking it on and off between sessions or walks as easy as taking off a collar. The little guard that slides over the button prevents it from accidentally unlatching. As you should use this alone without another collar you definitely want it to stay on securely if youโre not indoors - and this helps to do that. This works great when used correctly. Already my GSD has a more consistent heel, better self-control when he sees other dogs (he wants to play and acts like a lunatic with his GSD barking which we hadnโt been able to get more improvement on until this). He responds positively to the corrections in conjunction with concurrent verbal corrections so now after just a week we rarely have to work the Herm Sprenger - he simply takes the verbal corrections/ cue. We bought the 20โ neck size, as he is 18โ neck, and ended up removing 3 links to make it a snug but not tight fit without the martingale part tight. So a very subtle flick of the finger or wrist on the least can create just enough pressure in the high part of the neck / head that he responds immediately. Great product and glad I bought it

A little big for my dog, so I returned it for a smaller size.. same collar..
Awesome quality. Great product.. But it was too big for my dog.. When I took out enough prongs to fit him.. there was only 4 left on the collar.. So I have returned it.. Ordered the same brand because according to trainers.. it's the only brand to buy. I am getting my replacement tomorrow.. so I will write on it.. Would buy this brand again, it is strong, well made and awesome..

It helps with pulling and gives you more control.
I do find this helps with the strong pulling of a 65 lbs block of puppy muscle on the end of the leash! lol. They can still pull, and won't mind doing so. But it's easier to handle. So I think this will help for training. (I did have the walkabout harness, but she could still drag me around)! I like the buckle. I think it adds to the safety, as the others will just the hook come off too easily! But I little plastic thingy that slides over to protect the buckle comes off waaay to easily. Waaay too easily! I ended up losing it at the park within the 3rd day. And I tried to be soo careful not to lose it. It was slipping off every time I used it, so I knew it was a matter of time. For the price I paid for this collar, I really thought that they could have at least made that one simple thing a better quality. But the collar is still functional without it. Definitely will not go out without attaching it to a regular collar. It can still come off a little easier than I would like. One instance, we were passing a pit bull friend on the sidewalk. The 2 dogs were wrestling for like 2 minutes for a quick chat. In those 2 minutes, somehow the collar came apart mid prong, and she got loose. The one time I went out without affixing to her regular collar! Thankfully she was too busy playing to care; and the pitty's owner was able to grab hold of her quickly, and held her while I fiddled with getting the prongs back in place. Lesson learned. Won't go without the connector to the regular collar!
