Incorrect Struts for 2016 Jeep Cherokee, Unacceptable Service from Detroit Axle
1-Star Review: Incorrect Struts for 2016 Jeep Cherokee, Unacceptable Service from Detroit Axle Order Date: September 13, 2024 Order Total: $460.81 Product: Lower Control Arm Kit (including shocks and struts) for 2016 Jeep Cherokee As a long-term Detroit Axle customer, I am deeply disappointed by this purchase. The shocks installed without issue and performed well. However, the struts are 1 to 1.5 inches too long and incompatible with my 2016 Jeep Cherokee (see photos: one comparing original Jeep struts to Detroit Axle’s, another showing original Jeep, Detroit Axle, and Monroe struts purchased to replace them). Upon receipt in 2024, we inspected the parts, and the packaging appeared correct. Due to unforeseen circumstances, installation was delayed until early September 2025. Upon attempting to install the struts, we discovered they do not fit. After this failed attempt, Detroit Axle confirmed via multiple calls that the part number was correct for our vehicle but failed to address the parts’ incompatibility. Without test-fitting by disassembling the Jeep, how could any customer know the struts were incorrect when the packaging was accurate and the part number later verified? With all the run around our vehicle has been inoperable for two weeks, forcing us to purchase Monroe struts to restore functionality, at significant additional cost. Detroit Axle’s response was inadequate: Unresponsive Support: Multiple calls yielded no resolution, only deflections. Unreasonable Warranty Process: Their 10-year warranty requires installing the struts—an impossibility given their incorrect size—followed by a mechanic’s inspection and a 2–3 week review by their inspectors. This policy is impractical and obstructive. Misplaced Blame: They claimed we “should have inspected” the parts beyond the correct packaging, an unreasonable expectation when the part number was confirmed correct post-installation. This suggests a failure in quality control, likely mislabeling or incorrect packaging. Detroit Axle’s refusal to facilitate a return or refund undermines their warranty claims. Recommendation: Exercise caution when purchasing items from Detroit Axle for a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. Even with confirmed part numbers, verify compatibility upon receipt, though this is challenging without test-fitting. Consider reliable alternatives like Monroe or KYB to avoid costly disruptions.

Arrived
All came as it should. But does not fit 320i. Rear shocks fit perfectly. Front struts, no bueno. In great condition. Detroit Axle has good quality parts anyhow.
