Fantastic picture quality
This is an excellent camera with great picture quality. Even in suboptimal lighting conditions, fine details can be made out easily. The construction is solid as well, with a thick outer shell and hard plastic camera cover, fitting for a vandal-proof camera. You can choose to run the power and ethernet cables out of the back of the camera, say, through a hole in a wall, or you can remove a rubber insert to divert the cable out of one side. I was worried about range of motion, but the camera can pivot along a wide range, up and down, and nearly 360 degrees around. The wide FOV allows you to see a lot from any position. This camera easily connects to AgentDVR, and AgentDVR is even able to use data from the camera's AI motion and object detection to tag videos (with keywords including "detected", "vehicle", "people", "animal") or trigger recordings. FTP recording also works very well, although I had trouble with Auto/PASV transport and had to set it to Port to get it to work properly. The only problem I've had, along with other Reolink cameras, is switching between day and night modes. I guess my porch is just a bit too dark. In the morning, the camera won't switch to day mode until at least 3 hours past sunrise. It also doesn't switch over when my porch light is turned on at night, and it's a really powerful bulb. This doesn't significantly affect clarity, it just means it doesn't show colors when it reasonably could.

Camera installed a few days ago - seems to work well
I haven't extensively tested night vision or motion detection, but the camera works well in its indoor application in my basement. Picture quality is quite good. The Reolink Client software works well with Windows 11 PCs, IOS devices, but fails to work with my MacBook Air running the Sonoma version of MacOS. It failed with the previous version, Ventura as well. Two different Mac's (also a MacMini 2018) showed the same result. Given that two different PC's worked fine, I can only conclude that the Mac version is not ready for prime time. The Mac problem exists with two different Reolink camera models including this one. With IOS and Windows 11 as well as logging into the camera via the web, the RLC-1240A produces good results. I have installed micro SD storage in this camera as well as a different Reolink model - storage works well. In all, a good camera. But suggest that Reolink fix the Mac Reolink Client.

Night color recording a huge disappointment
I am a huge fan of Reolink cameras. I own 8 of them. Unfortunately, I chose to upgrade one of them to the RLC-1240A. Big disappointment. The day vision was excellent. At night, however, the promised color night vision simply did not work. After a lot of fussing with the software, I got the system to sort of function, but the color vision only showed up where I have sidewalk lighting (low voltage). When I turned off the sidewalk lighting I just got black, even with the "brightness" turned all the way up. When motion triggered the spotlights contained in the dome, it appears that there may be some color out there, but the lights just reflect back into the lens showing mostly glare. Photos taken by the previous camera show the night photos in color (after the motion detector triggers the spotlights) and in infrared boosted black and white (before the motion triggers the spots). I will be returning this camera and reinstalling the old one. Too bad because (a) I really wanted this to work and (b) installing this camera was more than twice the trouble I have had with other Reolink cameras.

Reliable camera
No issues with the internet and with the computer that we chose to connected with. Love the fact that we can link the camera to our cell too. Very functional and great value! .

Superb image quality
I mounted this camera on the wall next to my front door, and with its wide field of view, I am able to see the porch and the end of the sidewalk leading up to it. It is easy to set up with the Reolink app, and easy to view clips stored on the memory card. I recommend getting the largest card that the camera accepts, 512 GB. IMHO, "vandalproof" should mean that the potential vandal should not be easily able to cut the wire(s). This should be easily achievable with a junction box on which the camera would mount. Unfortunately, the junction box specified for this camera is not available from Amazon (or anywhere else on the web, as far as I can tell). I purchased a Reolink D20 box knowing that I would have to drill and machine my own holes to match the holes in the camera base. I did this and it worked fine.

Device is good. Disappointed in company.
Works well. 12MP is good. I thought buying from the company was supposed to be good. Product was not new. Package was previously opened. Missing some parts: screws, cable, instructions were ripped. Password was already set, so I had to reset. If I wanted second hand, I could have bought it.

A great quality IP camera at a really good price point.
I love the Reolink cameras! They're very easy to install and setup, especially if you're also using their NVR. The image quality is great and the quality of the camera construction is really good, as well.

REOLINK newbies
First time REOLINK user. Initially, I was excited about the features and expansion capabilities of this purchase. The installation was easy and the camera resolution was satisfactory. Setup and configuration was simple enough, until I found that the DVRโs WiFi would not connect to the REOLINK App. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have re-boxed everything and sent it back. Unfortunately, this product did not live up to its reviews. Tech support w/could not figure out the WiFi connectivity issue with the DVR. Also, neither of the cameras made it to their 1 year anniversary, fully functional. First the nighttime โspot lightโ failed within 9 months of purchase, THEN the DVR ports began fading and causing random disconnects.

Excellent build quality, picture quality, and software!
I rarely leave Amazon reviews, but I was compelled to leave this one. There are many cheap quality cameras (light and plastic), but this one is metal, and built very well. The picture quality is excellent. Love the two-way audio and the Google Home integration. Also, the software is amazing, and it allows you to open the ports for ONVIF (at your own risk). Have it working with my 3rd party NVR just fine. Took some fiddling with the settings and ports, but now everything is up and running beautifully!

Easy set up and instant on
Very impressive camera...mine is set up inside to cover my entire rec room area. I am using it with POE, its instant when I click to view. I have some other (brand B) 4 K cameras both inside and out, and to be totally honest I think the others are just slightly clearer. However very, very close. The part that impresses me the most it the instant on connection to view. I also have the Reolink 2 K POE doorbell....I is flawless. Highly recommend Reolink over my other brand.

Clear views during the day and night when protected...
I like the resolution and ability to set size parameters for person, vehicle, animal detection. I like that it is 24/7 recording on the Reolink DVR and the unit is easy to setup and point (as long as you have a Cat5e/6/6e/7 or other cabling to the camera's location). I like that it is domed with anti-tamper glass. I like that it can be installed horizontally (under soffits, etc.). I like that it can be installed vertically (on side of house's exterior walls). I like the features including auto IR, auto lighting, motion recording, playback filtering, auto colour mode (switch to black and white if not enough lighting). I like the reliability of these domes (I have 4). I don't like that exposed domes (side of exterior house wall with no cover) can have an IR reflection issue at night - IR beam bounces off accumulated dirt on the glass dome and creates smudge spots on the video output. I now have to remove the glass domes every few weeks to carefully clean the inside of the dome with a lint-free cloth and no-streak glass cleaner or water. This is the argument for the turret or bullet style cams whose lenses seem to stay clean without all this extra effort and fanfare. I don't like that the glass domes seem to 'attract' dirt when mounted in exposed spots with no cover/shade protection (much like a soffit provides). I've had to clean the exterior of each exposed dome every month. I don't like that the glass dome is clear. A darker tint that reduces reflection and also camouflages the direction the camera is pointed would be my preferred choice. But I do like Reolink's product line including its 4:3 doorbell though 5MP seems dark compared to these and other 8MP and 12MP cams. I will continue to buy Reolink cams for my use.
