Millions of people have gotten healthy through low-carb plans over the years - and a growing number have discovered the wonderful benefits of ketogenic (Keto) nutrition. Many are confused, though, about how low-carb they should go. Now, Eat Rich, Live Long reveals how mastering the low-carb/Keto spectrum can maximise your weight loss and optimise your health for the long term. The unique nutritional program outlined in Eat Rich, Live Long is designed by experts to help you feel great while you eat delicious and satisfying foods. Review: Recommended - I've had this book for 3 months and I'd also read a number of other books and been trying out low carb approach for about 10 months. I've found this an excellent book which targets a multiplicity of readers who are motivated to use lifestyle changes to improve health. It has so much ground to cover but does so succinctly and with clarity, focusing quickly on what will most likely make a difference and why and where individual variation may be important. It also begins to address the reasons why its recommendations may be at odds with governmental guidelines that have influenced our thinking, and gives strong rationale to help the reader take on the huge mental task of overcoming what may be years of reinforced thinking about what constitutes a healthy lifestyle. The backgrounds of the two authors work synergistically with the problem resolution methodology of Engineering a refreshing approach. If you want to cut straight to the practicalities and try things out and it encourages / enables this but for those who want to understand more about the whys and the rationale it also provides a gateway and detail for this and for understanding what differences there may be between individual responses . It's clearly well researched and evidence based. For me personally this book brought together a number of threads which helped me make my own mind up based on the science and on what I have found when I have tried the main lifestyle changes. When the recommendations actually work for you it really helps you buy in to the argument and the detailed explanations help you sift through the camouflage that you will find if you enter the murky world of social media on the topics of nutrition / lifestyle and the very polarised interest groups. Review: New TV Series based on this book? "Trust Me I’m Not a Doctor"? - Ivor Cummins and Jeffrey Gerber deserve THE highest possible worldwide recognition and awards for their work in bringing this information to the world. I honestly cannot thank them enough for their efforts. I will be 100% recommending it to anyone and everyone I can. How could I not, as it will not only change a lot of lives, it has the power to save a lot of lives. It shocks and scares me that most of this information has been around for years, but has so far been constantly buried or ignored, despite mounting evidence from research. Thank goodness for us all that Ivor had his own abnormal blood tests a few years ago, which started him off on his journey of investigations, without which we would have carried on in ignorance and continued reducing our life expectancies. Ivor’s YouTube videos are also brilliantly presented, explaining technical information in an entertaining way the layperson can follow. He should be hired asap to make a TV series based on this book (how about “Trust Me, I’m not a Doctor”?!). If you’re not sure whether to buy the book, watch his YouTube presentations and like me you will soon be fascinated and hooked, wanting to learn more, and this book will give you the in-depth information and inspiration to improve your health massively. Thank you Ivor from the bottom of my (now hopefully healthier) heart! For the future good health of humans all over this planet you urgently need to become a worldwide household name.

Comprehensive and Practical Guide to the Keto Lifestyle
Eat Rich, Live Long by Ivor Cummins provides a comprehensive guide to health and nutrition through the lens of a low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) diet 🍖🥑. The book focuses on how embracing a ketogenic lifestyle can promote better health, prevent disease, and support longevity 💪🧬. Written in an approachable style, it blends scientific research with practical advice, making it accessible to both beginners and those already familiar with keto principles 📚. One of the book’s strengths is the depth of research behind the recommendations 🔬. Cummins delves into the science of metabolism, insulin resistance, and the role of fats in our diet, challenging conventional dietary guidelines ❌🍞. His emphasis on understanding the root causes of chronic diseases, like diabetes and heart disease, helps readers feel more informed about their food choices 🥗📖. The book is filled with detailed explanations on how to adopt the LCHF diet and practical tips on navigating everyday challenges, like meal planning and dining out 🍽️. However, while the scientific content is well-researched, some readers may find the technical explanations a bit dense at times 🧠🤔. If you're not familiar with terms like "insulin sensitivity" or "metabolic pathways," certain sections may require a bit more effort to digest. That said, the book does a good job of breaking down complex concepts, but readers who prefer lighter reads might find it heavy 📖⚖️. The recipe section, while useful, focuses primarily on high-fat meals 🥩, which may not suit everyone’s palate or lifestyle 🍳. However, for those committed to a ketogenic or LCHF lifestyle, the recipes offer variety and a practical way to implement the book’s advice 🍽️📝. Eat Rich, Live Long is a valuable resource for anyone interested in taking control of their health through nutrition 🏋️♂️🍎. Its balance of science and practical advice makes it a solid choice for both newcomers and those more experienced with the LCHF diet 👍, though readers should be prepared for some detailed scientific discussions 📊.

This is the best and most up-to-date general book on "nutrition" I'm aware of.
The authors are both widely respected authorities on nutrition, with very different backgrounds. Jeffry Gerber MD is a long-experienced family physician. Ivor Cummins is a senior problems-solving systems engineer, familiar across social media. This joint authorship of two such top-class experts must surely be why this book successfully covers such a wide subject. This book provides comprehensive biochemical and physiological explanations for the large-scale ill-health of worldwide populations. It covers the work of Joseph R Kraft MD, making the chilling prediction that the real prevalence of Type-2 Diabetes is much higher than estimated from routine blood tests. This is a "call to arms" for urgently tackling Type-2 Diabetes and Insulin Resistance before they cripple health care systems worldwide. The myths surrounding such nutrients as fats, and health-check values such as lipids, are demolished. (It is these myths, support by food and drug companies, and propagated by misled doctors, that are behind much of the poor-health people that suffer without know why). The meal-plans and recipes are not as comprehensive as a book dedicated to them would provide. But they will be a useful "starter kit" for many. While this book could be read cover to cover, in my opinion it is probably most useful (at least initially) as a reference work that readers can use to tackle their most urgent needs first. (I would give this book more than 5-stars if I could!)

Superb book. A must have to understand how to live a long and healthy life
I believe that this is THE most influential health book available right now. It teaches the reader to understand the common cause of many chronic diseases including weight gain, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. And it is written from a purely data driven unbiased perspective. The first section explains in an easily understood format, the core concepts of chronic ill health (namely insulin resistance) and what to do to root cause (managing insulin). The second section outlines food plans, what to eat and some great recipies. The third section is a deeper dive into the data behind the arguments of the authors. A great section for people who want to get a really comprehensive understanding of the science. But it is the first section that is really the jewel in the crown of this book. Read it, internalise it and put into action Having personally followed a low fat diet for most of my life and suffered the health consequences in many ways, I switched to a low carb high healthy fats lifestyle (LCHF) a numbers of years ago and have never felt better. You won't believe the difference in how you feel within a few weeks. Well done Ivor and Jeff, you are saving so many lives through your work!

This is a fantastic book! Masses of info by someone who's done his research (a very intelligent guy called Ivor Cummins- check him out on the diet doctor website). All you need to know about why a keto diet is the best possible diet to live as long and healthy a life as possible. The middle of the book contains a recipe section by a chef called Ryan Turner; he's amazing! The recipes are truly inspirational and have been written by someone who loves food. Tried his recipe for pizza; the dough's made up using mozarella cheese, ground almonds, parmesan and egg; hubbie and son declared it the best pizza they've ever tasted! He has a book out totally dedicated to keto recipes and I have ordered it; masses of recipes and a pudding section that sounds fab; can't wait to get my hands on it! He started a company called 'Sola' that sells predominantly granulated sweetener but other products too but unfortunately they aren't available in the uk yet. While he heavily promotes the 'sugar' I shall just use erythritol instead. So glad with this book, can't recommend it highly enough!

It's an okay book if you want to get technical on keto diets.
I purchased the Kindle version of this book. There are embedded hyperlinks in a few places that either jump to a different section of the book which is helpful in one way (for further info), or they are supposed to take you to useful online info on the authors blog. This doesn't appear to be working despite me trying the url from the hyperlink from several different machines. I emailed via the blog site to point out the fault but never heard back. There's a lot of info which goes deeper than most in to the science behind the keto diet but other than that it's just another keto diet book.

This book was an excellent read and it’s the type of book I will ...
This book was an excellent read and it’s the type of book I will read a second time because it’s that good. Nice piece of work Ivor Cummins and Dr. Jeffery Gerber. Before I get into the book here is a very short personal bio. I have been passionate about the field of nutrition and how it relates to not only our physiology but to human performance since the age of 13 and I am now 55, a span of 42 years. I am an avid reader of at least 2-3 books per month but have never given a review. I feel it’s time to start waking others up and if I can’t do it through my own writing what better way than through those that know what they are talking about as I have experienced it in my own life. My disdain for the medical establishment goes back over 3 decades and since then I have not been to a doctor for any type of health issue while my use of medications in that same time period has been as close to zero as you can come. Everything I do personally is through food because food is medicine once you begin to understand the effects of the various macros/micros and how fear and marketing manipulation is used to generate profit at the expense of health. It’s not simply some saying it’s a fact that food is the medicine. I am extremely lean as I still compete in a sport based on weight divisions. That might not be your goal but with real information you can start moving in the right direction. This book is wonderfully put together with the beginning very easy to comprehend while still giving the reader a thorough understanding of the science behind it all. For those in doubt the last third of the book gives you all the technical data you need which will help remove any doubts. The middle of the book will appeal to those that love a high degree of variety in their diet with plenty of flavor to boot. It’s filled with exceptional recipes and the mouth watering photography. You will be asking yourself can this really be possible and my answer would be yes. The recipe/pictures are similar to what you often see posted to social media only these recipes come with the added advantage of moving you towards robust health. What initially drew me in to purchase this book as I have followed this lifestyle for over 25 years was Ivor’s charismatic speaking style when it came to the technical information. I found it to be extremely appealing and something you rarely see in the space. Anyone can view his YouTube videos to confirm that yes indeed he is a complex problem solver that can explain complex issues in simple terms and likewise for Dr. Jeffery Gerber. Anyone interested in losing weight, having more energy, feeling better about themselves both physically and mentally should seriously consider purchasing this book. It could very well be your tipping point too where everything changes. Similar to what happened to me 32 years ago when I realized the medical establishment and the information being presented to the public was not what I thought it was which I assumed was for my benefit. Instead what I found was that it mostly profit driven with very little integrity. The further one digs the more the truth starts to surface. I actually had to read hundreds and hundreds of books over years to begin to figure it all out. Many today have the opportunity to get a headstart…………I would suggest taking it.
