Alfie, Darling: Special Edition Lavender Interior

Let me just start with how gorgeous this book is. From the cover, to the colored pages, to the writing! This book is beautiful! After reading the McGowan Mafia series, I had to read Alfie Daring! And I am so glad I did. If you want to read this book please check the trigger warnings!

When I read the last book and Alfie didn’t show I was wondering what happened to him. I was so curious! And this book came out!!! I couldn’t wait! What happened to him was freaking insane! Not only that but everyone in the story really made me questioned what gonna happen to him! And I’m completely shocked at the ending. To the point where I was tearing up just a bit

I had to take a moment to collect my thoughts on this one. I have anticipated this book since this character showed up in the McGowan series book 4! I am not quite sure what I expected originally from this book/characters but man did Effie turn it on its head. This will not be for everyone. Anyone looking for an easy, light hearted, insta-love, heart eyes kinda story this is not it! This has all the feminine rage, anger and revenge that usually is given to our morally grey male characters. I was here for it! Even when I was cringing and gagging and asking myself "is this to much to come back from?" MMF...tortured souls...very damaged people trying to love other very damaged people. We have Alfie the sl*tty, damaged, looking for validation and love in all the depraved s*xual encounters. Petros the boy sold into slavery to save his family watching the woman he loves be tortured and unable to save her. Harriet...stolen off the street at 18 on a girls trip to be s*xually abused and tortured for years with only revenge and vigilante justice keeping her going. If they can make it work I guess there is hope for anyone!!! No but seriously great story with interesting and unique characters. My one complaint is that it could have been longer! I would have loved to know more about them and about the dynamics of them being together. Like everyday life shiz...who cooks and who leaves the toilet seat up??? Also the ending cl*max scene...maybe I am twisted and a bit damaged myself but I freaking loved it! Let them eat Lasagna!!!

I had been waiting for this book for SO long. Since Alfie was introduced in the McGowan books. And then when I found out it was partially MM. OMG That was icing on the cake. This book was a tad darker than other Effie books I have read so i would advice to read the triggers. I love that we got a back story to Alfie and it just made me love him even more. 5 stars AGAIN. And one of my absolute favorite Effie books.

I will start with the fact that the interior pages are beautifully executed with lavender pages. And if you still need convincing here’s my review. This book is another 5 star read for me from this author. Check and then double check and for good measure check one last time, the trigger warnings. Alfie is not for the beginner dark romance reader! This is for the one’s that dive deep into the abyss of all things dark and delicious! The way that Effie is able to navigate through such a dark story is absolute brilliance! I felt all kinds of emotions while reading. Heartbreaking but darkly twisted and still a light at the end of the tunnel, all wrapped up in an MFM bow. Well done once again!!

I legit don’t know where to start with this review, I’m still processing. This book was so good. I usually avoid MM books because it just isn’t my vibe. However, I loved Alfie so much in the other books I thought I’d give it a go. I am so so glad I did. It was amazing. We get a bit more backstory into Alfie and my heart broke for him, he just wants to fit in and have a family. What he’s been through is actually really sad. Enter Harriet and Petros and the start of an extremely twisted relationship. Harriet is unhinged and a bit of a savage! It makes for great schmexy time though! I mean jeez! **fans self excessively** I have to say Effie, I still think the Tiramisu was worse than the lasagne. I still gag thinking about it. Although, on that note, please stop ruining food for your loyal readers hahahaha. I really would recommend this book but definitely check triggers as it is a tad on the dark side.
