Buy French Alps - Michelin Green Guide: The Green Guide (Michelin Tourist Guides) 7 by Michelin Travel Partner (ISBN: 9782067224230) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Very useful - Struggled to find many books on the area. We wanted to do a driving holiday in the French Alps and this was a very good book. Followed several of the routes, most were good, one we gave up on as it was too narrow and dangerous to drive. Followed some of the walking tours, mostly good. Top resource for our holiday plans. Review: Excellent guide book - Another excellent guide from Michelin. Well researched informative and well laid out. I have bought several Michelin guides over the years and they never let me down

Great guide well worth the money
A must have item, when travelling through the French alps. I wish I had purchased this years earlier, as very informative.

How can a book on the French Alps fail to mention the Tour De France?
Page 35 'Sporting Events' under July the only event listed is the Masters Ladies Golf Tournament - disappointed

the Green guide is probably not quite as in depth as some other guides out there but it proved extremely useful on a recent trip to the Alps.

Finally after all these years a new version. My last was purchased around 2001 and was the 1st edition published in 1998. What a book. With it we have been led into the best of the French Alps over the past years, most recently in 2015. But this latest edition, published October 2017 I think is only the 2nd edition, I believe this because I have been searching for an update for years on Amazon and when my 1st edition sold out, it was no longer available for several years....until just recently. The 1st edition has provided guidance for us to many trips in this area and close by in Italy and Switzerland. Chamonix, Mont Blanc, simply majestic. Nice reference for all the good French alp highlights. But honestly, the older version is far better organized and much easier to find stuff. This book has the layout of the all the newer Michelin Green Guide which I'm finding hard to adjust. Places are not in alphabetical order in the book but instead ordered by region. Very hard to find what you are after where the old version was simple because the order is alphabetical. The new version doesn't have my favorite Green Guide fabric cover and its shorter in height and a bit wider and thicker. When I compared the write ups for the some of the same regions, like Chamonix or Grenoble, the presentation and write up between the 2 editions was totally different. I am sorry to say that this version doesn't compare to the original. Same for the Italy and Switzerland Green Guides, older editions are better. But the book still gets 4 out of 5 stars for the detailed maps with Michelin Star ratings that I have yet to find differences. No other book series gives you the equivalent ratings with this level of detail and area granularity. But then again, Michelin is from France, they should know their country better than any other and it shows in these green guides, especially the French Region Green Guides. Happy Travels.
