Easy To Read in Difficult Light
I purchased this humidity and temperature controller as I wanted to have a remote control device to alter heater settings when required. When I received it I immediately realised that it was an excellent visual device too, as it uses the same screen technology used on the latest Kindle Scribe, which makes it easy to read the screen in poor light and very strong light, which the cheaper displays do not use and consequently are a pain to physically read. It also operates off batteries or a USB C connection, the latter being best if you are using it tom perform frequent control functions. It was also easy to set up with the Shelly app and gave accurate readings. All in all good value for the money.

Smart display
This is part of a range of devices that Shelly sell to control items around the home, as such to get the most out of it you do have to carry out some work yourself. That said, this is a very easy device to set up: insert the batteries, use a mobile phone to connect to the device, set up the wifi and away you go. The display is very clear and easy to read and the device feels good quality. It comes with a simple stand and can also be wall mounted or stuck onto a wall with the supplied pads. You can connect it to other systems and then use the readings to control other devices. Many people seem to connect it to home assistant but it can also connect to other systems with some work. I connect it to a MQTT broker and then use that to connect to Apple home where it displays the temperature and humidity. The device only connects to the Wifi system for a few seconds to update it's values and then goes back to sleep, however as the display is an e-paper display this stays on. The device updates it readings every so often (I think it states every two hours if nothings changes), or whenever they change by a certain amount, thus conserving battery life. Consequently it can be a few tenths of a degree out before it updates. It can also be triggered by a change in humidity which it also displays. I like these devices, they seem to be the best from Shelly and I intend to get several more. Note the Shelly web site states these will be upgraded to matter in the future, and when this happens you should be able to connect to a wider range of systems directly.

Dont waste your time and money
Wish i didnt waste so much time on this. The display is faulty out the box- The temp and humidty readings are wildy different on the display vs the shelly app precise check ins. Which in turn makes home assistant get another 3rd diff reading. We should ignore HA as there are other parameters in place. But the devoce itself is unreadable and temp logs vastly diff between devoce display and app, not sure which one to believe. Humidity again is wildly different and more extreme if at all readable. Wish i didnt spend so much tim on it.

brilliant sensor
Great temperature sensor, nice and clear display and the connectivity is brilliant, the app is easy to setup with the ability to offset the reading and works with home assistant too

Functional but not impressed by build quality or design
I'm trying to be objective in my review so I'm giving three stars for now. The body feels cheap and flimsy. I am using it with a power supply rather than batteries, so the resultant lack of weight makes it prone to slipping on anything other than a rough surface. The size is good and the quality of the display is excellent - very sharp and easy to read. I did not find initial setup to be simple and needed several attempts before managing to upgrade the firmware and get the device linked. Prising the case open to access the reset button resulted in some minor cosmetic damage to it. I find it difficult to understand why the reset button can only be accessed by opening the case! There should be an access hole over the button to allow it to be pressed used a pin or match. The reset button had to be pressed multiple times during the setup and I left the back of the case off until everything was complete. The unit provides similar readings to my ThermPro units - typically within 1 - 2 degrees on temperature and 1 - 5 % on humidity. The one main benefit over my existing sensors is the ability to monitor remotely rather than having to be on either a BT or LAN connection. I am planning to buy another couple of units to deploy and test over time but I am not impressed with the material quality or the functional design.

Lovely addition to Shelly/Alexa set up
Works great. Remember, the second layer of batteries go opposite to the first..... Good to know.....
