Yummy Yummy shelf stable hummus !
This hummus is a must for the pantry. It makes at least 4 good size portions of hummus and it's so easy & yummy. I keep a bag in my knapsack with a collapsible bowl (fr Amazon 😊) and i never go hungry. just add water ( can add add'l ingredients too).

Extremely pungent, raw garlicky flavor
I rarely leave reviews, but I was very disappointed with this hummus and wanted to leave some feedback for the company to take into account and/or for other customers as a word of caution. The flavor is 100% raw, pungent garlic. I can still feel it prickling my tongue. I didn't expect made-from-scratch flavor and texture, I purchased this to bring along on a backpacking trip, but even judged against the standard of "backpacking food", I just can't do it. I followed the instructions exactly with the first test batch, and then even tried a few batches with various ingredients to dilute/mask the flavor, but couldn't come up with anything satisfactory. Instant hummus is a great product for packing along on backcountry trips, but this one needs a huge flavor adjustment in my opinion. I hope the company will see this feedback and make some changes, because there are few commercially available options for dehydrated hummus.

Very good!
I bought this for backpacking & didn’t really expect much. Was I wrong! This product is so delicious & has enough garlic to make it a bit spicy. It does not taste instant & I will definitely buy it again to use at home & on the trail.

Spicy, smooth, and convenient
If you can handle very spicy this is the product for you. It was way too spicy for me and caused me to have heartburn. But it mixed well. I bought tahini sauce and added that along with olive oil and it came out very smooth consistency and no lumpiness. I wish that I could handle that spiciness. If you mix it with other things depending on what you can eat, such as some kind of other product that is creamy then you could cut down the spiciness.

Tasty in small bites, and with naan to soak up the intense flavor
UPDATE: After trying the Roasted Red Pepper flavor and finding it too salty, I just can't advocate for this product. There's not an edible flavor in their line of products. Jalapeño is too spicy. Roasted Red Pepper is too salty. And Original is too garlicky. I suppose one could say that Mother Earth Products makes a flavor-packed Instant Hummus, but it's too intense for a food product. I'd like to enjoy my food, not figure out how to make it palatable. ORIGINAL REVIEW: As another reviewer posted, the flavor is 100% raw garlic, complete with the inherent spiciness that makes my nose drip. I added tahini paste to mine, and while those bites are a bit better, it's difficult to blend it when I'm relying on a powdered mix to be easy to prepare without kitchen equipment. If this was a side on a mezze platter, it might work better. But if you're like me, and you're looking for protein-packed main dishes to enjoy with vegetables, you're going to have to prepare for the raw garlic attack. The taste sticks around in my mouth for a while. I suppose I have to be grateful for the benefits of garlic, but man oh man! Still, I like it. I'd buy it again, and I'm waiting on the Roasted Red Belly Pepper flavor to see if it's any better. The reviews on the Jalapeño one are scary enough to prevent me from trying it for fear that it would truly cause me pain. I too hope that the company reads this review. If they're using raw garlic, maybe they could try cooking it down to remove the edge that it has. Or just use far less. I'm surprised for the third ingredient in the list how overpowering it is. It's really difficult to eat more than a couple bites without seeking a piece of naan to quell my burning tongue. I'd much prefer to enjoy the hummus with raw veggies than stuff my face with bread just tolerate it.

So Much Garlic!!!
I really wanted to like this. I read other reviews that said it was garlicky. I thought to myself "I like garlic, I'll be fine." Holy hell this is garlicky. It's like it was made with mostly garlic and a smidge of chickpeas. And it's an intense, pungent, uncooked garlic flavor too. I just can't do it.

Can't find it anywhere else
I'm grateful for this product because I no longer find powdered hummus in health food stores. I use it camping. However, the garlic taste is intense. When I purchased it in 2024, it was not so strong. Hoping the manufacturers can adjust their recipe back. Unfortunately the resealable bag design isn't ideal because the hummus powder gets caught in the ziplock, preventing a good seal.

Great concentrated flavor.
This hummus is a very strong concentrated great flavor-try it according to package first to see what you think-OR adjust the recipe. I pour one can chickpeas with the juice in a blender, add the olive oil suggested, and 1/4 cup (not 1/2 cup) Mother Earth hummus dried mix-adjust to taste. Do NOT add the water from the recipe. To add variety I sometimes add to blender a variety of individual ingredients: 2 tablespoons chopped pimiento olive mix, or extra garlic, or cayenne, or Garam Masala, or what you like-depending on use. My recipe makes 8-16 oz.(2 cup batches) servings or a total of 16 cups Hummus. The package total says 4-8 oz.(1 cup batches) servings or a total of 4 cups Hummus. So my recipe makes 4 times more batches (servings). Hummus my way for just a speck more work, and less cost. P.S. cost of canned beans about $1.00-$1.50, or you can cook dried chickpeas ($1.50 per pound) to bring cost down even more! I guess it’s about your taste and what time you have to change the recipe. My apologies to Mother Earth Products for using less of your great formula!
