How many times a day should i use it

Around 20 minutes a time, no more than three times a day. You need to be careful not to overdo it or it's very possible your feet will hurt even more, than normal. Like a lot of excersise equipement, over use can be worse than, not using it. I'm not saying it's a bad item, I like mine a lot, just be careful using it.

Does this work well on carpet?

Yes, it does. Can indent the carpet temporarily though.

It is not very heavy at all, but it is solid as it is made out a hard plastic.
