Excellent at grinding for espresso for a really good price
I'm really impressed by how well this works for grinding expresso, especially for the price. It's solidly built, well-machined, and has a good heft to it. It looks good, no trouble leaving it out next to the espresso machine, and you can grind a dose for a double shot (10-20 g) in about 45 seconds. I like it more than I expected to and think it could easily be our main grinder. However, my partner is not yet convinced that we should not get an electric one. I think an electric grinder than can provide similar results across such a broad range of grind sizes would be triple the price or more.

Excellent value for the money for espresso and beyond
As a fledgling coffee enthusiast I'm very impressed. Every espresso beginner should start here before considering any electric grinders. For pour-over and moka fans this grinder is just fantastic. My setup is a Breville Bambino and Turin DF64, and previously a Breville Smart Grinder Pro and DF54. Hario V60 for pour over, and occasionally I use a moka pot and french press. I bought the Kingrinder as a travel grinder, intending to use it for pour over, but it exceeded my expectations substantially. The K6 is solid metal, and weighty: 620g. It has a 30g dose capacity with medium-dark beans, which is plenty. I found it quite intuitive to use; the grind setting adjusts in 60 clicks per revolution. For coarse grinds the collar must be turned several complete revolutions. Easy enough, just tighten the collar until the burrs touch to find true zero (about -5 clicks on mine), then espresso is around 30 clicks, moka 60, pour over around 90, french press around 130. The indicator showing how many full revolutions have been completed works fine, just look carefully. The external grind adjustment collar is very convenient, and I wouldn't want to switch to an internal system as I regularly switch between brew methods daily. The catch cup screws securely to the body of the grinder. Note that the grinder arrives set up for power drill use, for hand grinding you should remove the black o-ring from around the lid, and secure the lid to the handle with the small white o-ring, otherwise the grinder lid is easy to lose. This makes sense for shipping, but it's a little odd to get a hand grinder that's set up for power drill use. Grinding is straightforward. For pour over or coarser, grinding is physically easy. Once you dial down to espresso it requires some effort, though with darker roasts I find it more than tolerable. For medium roast beans it's quite challenging - my guess is my wife will not find espresso physically feasible. I can grind a 17g dark roast espresso dose in about 35 seconds; lighter roasts take about 45s. Pour over grinds are faster. This is negligibly slower than a Breville SGP or Turin DF54. The K6 (and all hand grinders, I imagine) offer two significant advantages over electric grinders: dose control and retention. You get precisely as much coffee out as you put in, none gets stuck inside the grinder. So if you weigh and grind 17g of beans, you will get 17g of grinds. If you change the grind setting between doses, you won't get a mix of two different grinds, throwing off your brew. I am absolutely blown away by the espresso quality. Doing a head to head comparison to my DF64 (a well regarded espresso grinder) I might actually prefer the K6. Dialing in seems to be a bit easier on the K6, I suspect the conical burrs are more forgiving. I can taste the difference in burr profile, particularly with lighter roasts. The K6's conical burrs provide a very approachable espresso; the DF64 brings out stronger notes (like tangy, floral, citrus flavors), the K6 is more rounded, mellow, and balanced. To be fair, these are very small differences. Note that the click size of the K6 is adequate for espresso, but not outstanding. With my bambino dosing 17g, 30 clicks pulled a 34g shot, 31 clicks a 40g shot, and 35 a 50g shot. So one click is a substantial difference, and like many cheaper electric espresso grinders, you might have to adjust the dose size to really fine-tune your espresso. After just a few days with the K6 I feel like a good hand grinder should be where all new espresso enthusiasts start. It's a fantastic tool to learn how to make good espresso. Entry level electric espresso grinders are a mess - you get inconsistent dosing and retention making grind adjustments an exercise in frustration. With the K6 you get zero retention and thus perfect grind adjustment. Limitations: With a maximum dose of 30g you have to grind twice for a large french press. Brewing a dozen cups of coffee for a large family would be inefficient. The true zero is about 5 clicks past nominal zero, and there's no way to calibrate it. However, that's largely irrelevant except in comparing to other peoples' grind settings. The physical effort required to grind medium roast espresso is the biggest limitation. Dark roasts are more than tolerable, and for moka pot or pour over use it's a non-issue. Obviously it's a bit slower than a fast electric grinder. The K6 takes 35s per dose, my DF64 15s. However, other electric grinders like the DF54 or SGP take roughly 30s as well. I enjoy using this grinder and regularly grab it over my DF64 for espresso. Grind quality is excellent, but if you want flat burrs, this isn't going to provide those. Grind adjustment is very good to handle all brewing methods, but the granularity of the adjustment is only adequate for espresso - this is not a dedicated espresso grinder. A new complaints that are not really fair given the price. The threaded, screw-on catch cup can be annoying to remove and replace. Sometimes some coffee gets in the threads and jams. I suspect more expensive designs with magnetic catch cups would be more pleasant, but I'm certain that would be reflected in the price. There's no packaging for this grinder. The manual is a QR code that directs you to Kingrinder's website. The grinder is shipped in a cardboard box with foam padding that you won't want to use to store it. Finally, the straight handle is probably harder on your wrist than the original curved handle, but that's likely the lawyers' fault.

$100 grinder with $200+ features
This grinder is THE ultimate grinder in the $100 price range. 16 microns per click, extremely smooth grinding (unless youโre grinding light roast espresso, in which case you should probably be using an electric grinder or attach a drill to this) and a pleasure to use. Great for everything from espresso to French press and everything in between. I havenโt had to disassemble yet, but it seems easy enough from what Iโve seen. Note that your true zero and what shows zero on the external adjustment might be different (my true zero is -2, so if I set my grind to 60 itโs really at 58). This grinder makes it easy to dial in your beans, and has excellent burr geometry and build quality. Only downside is they were forced to change their handle to the straight version, but not a big deal. You cannot find another grinder of this quality at this price range. This beats out the Timemores in this price and other competitors. Unless youโre willing to dish out $250 for a 1zpresso K-Ultra, you canโt beat this beast of a grinder. Note that they are coming out with a K7, but I still opted for this as I am not a fan of magnetic catch cups (Iโm too clumsy).

Mmmm, good coffee!
Overall, I'm pleased with the K6. It took a couple weeks to dial in the exact grind for my pour-over. I started at the recommended 100 clicks, and ultimately settled on 116 clicks. Since I got the right grind, I've had perfect pour-over every morning.(15 grams of dark roast beans to 250 ml water is my ratio). I still have not landed on the right grind for the French press though. However, that brings me to the first quirks I encountered. I learned the hard way that my K6 was already turned one full revolution upon arrival, so it was already at 60 clicks instead of zero, which meant when I thought I was setting the grinder to 100 on my first attempt, it was in fact at 160, and that was the worst pour-over of my life! The 1-4 markings on the grinder that are (apparently) supposed to indicate revolutions, are quite useless and never line up with anything.. I also discovered that 'true zero' on my grinder is in fact 3 clicks below the labeled zero mark. I suggest when you get a new K6 grinder, the first thing to do is make sure you turn it clockwise until it won't easily go any further, and that is your true zero. On my grinder, this means my preferred 116 clicks is at the 113 mark if I start from the labeled 'zero' point on the grinder. On a daily basis, it isn't a big deal, but when reassembling after cleaning, or switching from different grind setting, it can matter. Other things: The included instructions (and the Kingrinder website) are not very helpful, and seem to suffer from 'lost in translation'. I learned by trial and error, and YouTube videos. The K6 generates a lot of static inside the chamber/hopper and receptacle/catch cup. Quite a bit of the ground coffee clings to it. The receptacle does not hold very much ground coffee, especially the larger grind. For me, it's easily enough for one cup (15g), but 30g would be pushing its limit. If you plan to use this for air travel or hiking, you might want to consider that this grinder is quite heavy. I don't like that the grinder can't ever be washed properly (no water must touch it). Speaking of cleaning, the disassembly and assembly for cleaning are a bit fiddly. I recommend watching YT videos. Also, a curved-tip crafting (beading) tweezer is helpful with the tiny 'c' clip. That said, it wasn't overly difficult. Once I got it disassembled, the cleaning was far easier and faster than any other manual grinder I've had. I was surprised how little coffee residue had accumulated on the burr after a full month of daily use. A firm bristle toothbrush worked better on the burr assembly than the little brush that came with the grinder. I used a straw-sized bottle brush on the inside of the hopper/chamber, but I would much prefer to wash it properly to remove coffee residue. Despite the 'quirks' and learning curve, I would not hesitate to purchase this grinder again. It is far superior than my previous manual grinders (Porlex), and worth the price (I got it on sale during the holiday season). The Kingrinder K6 is very sturdy and solid. It takes minimal effort to very quickly grind the beans (15-20 seconds for my 15g). Most importantly, I'm consistently enjoying the best morning pour-over coffee I've ever had, and that makes it worth the little quirks. 4-1/2 stars.

An inarguably superb, affordable, manual grinder!
I'm thrilled with this grinder. It's so easy to use, and my coffee tastes better. This is my first decent hand grinder so I can't make any comparisons. But quality of the manufacturing is flawless. And It works so perfectly. I chose it because it's one of the cheaper grinders recommended by Lance Hedrick on his youtube channel and I didn't have a lot to spend. Since grind is one of the absolutely critical factors that determines if your coffee tastes good or not, the existence of this wonderful grinder means that many more of us can afford to level up our coffee experience. With this grinder, I also bought James Hoffmann's book, which I highly recommend, if coffee means more to you than the sum of it's caffeine. I brew with an an Aeropress (also highly recommended). Before this I used a (hundred dollar) Capresso electric grinder. That plus the Aeropress meant that I was no longer forced to pay the obscenely high presses at the espresso shop to have a decent coffee experience. I estimate that switch has saved me almost ten-thousand dollars over the last seven years. I used the Capresso grinder till the motor brushes wore out. I was determined not to replace it with a like product. I wanted to upgrade to a grinder good enough for espresso (I plan on getting a lever press). The electric options were all way too expensive for me. My research revealed that manual grinders are about half to a third the price for the same grind quality. Thanks to Lance Hedrick, I was able to zero in on this grinder. One of the things that attracted me to it was that it's design allows you to easily power it with a drill. But now that I have experienced how marvelously the hand crank works, I know I will never bother to reach for a drill. In fact, I think a good manual grinder is superior to an electric unless you need an espresso grind (more time, more work to grind the same amount of beans). The reasons are, the device takes up almost no space, it's satisfying and easy to use and there's zero mess. In conclusion, recommend this grinder without reservation. If you've never experienced a quality manual grinder, get this and you will think you have gone to coffee heaven.

Espresso ready in 30-45 seconds
This is an amazing grinder and a beast. Itโs quick to grind a 18g double shot of espresso. It does require a little effort, but itโs not bad at all. Iโve used this grinder with multiple roasts from medium to dark with no issues at all. The shots are always very consistent even without having to worry about my crank speed or angle. The rubber in the middle makes it grip easy while grinding the beans. There are 240 clicks and Iโve found most of my espresso hits the 1:2 ratio - in 30 seconds of brew time - anywhere between 28-35 clicks. Having the click adjustment on the outside is super convenient. I can already tell itโs going to be durable, but donโt clean it with any water or rust is likely. Skip the expensive auto grinders, get a little workout and save the counter space. This K6 is the way to go.

Quality Machining Makes Quality Coffee Grinds
An excellent hand grinder at a fair price. It's solidly built out of stainless steel, and the weight inspires confidence that it will survive our chaotic household. Set it to preferred your preferred grind size and crank away. You'll get the same grind every time. It makes it easy to make consistent espresso. It's also small enough to tuck away into a kitchen corner and become unnoticeable, which is perfect for my small apartment kitchen. Instructions leave a small amount to be desired as some of the markings on the grinder are unexplained, but it is intuitive enough that it doesn't matter.

Best priced hand grinder
Amazing brilliant grinder for the price. Made out off metal, super sturdy, looks clean, super easy to use, comes with a brush. Very easy to store away, handle comes away to make it very portable. Grind quality for all settings is spot on, keeps the coffee beans tasting fresh.

Very nice
An accurate grinder that works so fast I don't even feel the need for an electric one and way faster than my old Porlex Tall ceramic grinder. Right now I am using it more for pour over as my electric burr grinder died and this produces a much better flavor and a more consistent grind than that one did too. Finally this feels strong with good bearings that are well supported
