Heavy duty and well made. I bought this and charged it up and it charged perfectly. On the very first trip out with it to test it with my trolling motor, it took a tumble out of my truck bed onto the road at about 20 MPH. I quickly jumped out and ran back and grabbed it and found that a corner got a little beat up but otherwise, it was completely fine. Since then, there has been zero swelling, charging issues or output issues. This is heavy duty and well protected if it can take a tumble onto asphalt and still be just fine. Save the money you'd spend on some name brand battery and go ahead and grab one of these.

I purchased this battery to power my small 18’ rowboat I use in the estuaries and sounds where I live. I was able to tootle around for 6 hours and still had more than half battery remaining. It’s a great value for the money. It is lightweight and small to carry back and forth from the garage to the car and boat and back. It provided sufficient power for my small motor.

As someone who uses a trolling motor regularly for fishing trips, I’ve gone through my fair share of marine batteries. This Newport 12V 50Ah Deep Cycle battery impressed me right out of the box. First, it’s much lighter than traditional AGM or lead-acid batteries I’ve used before easy enough to carry with one hand, which makes loading and unloading from my boat or vehicle much less of a hassle. Performance-wise, this battery delivers steady, consistent power. I ran it on a Newport 55lb thrust trolling motor and got a solid 4+ hours on moderate speeds with some bursts at higher throttle. Voltage remained stable the whole time, which means the battery didn’t sag under load like some cheaper options tend to do. Build quality also seems solid tight casing, clean terminals, and no noticeable heat build-up during extended use. It’s sealed and maintenance-free, which is a must for anyone who doesn’t want to deal with checking water levels or corrosion issues. One small point to note: there’s no built-in charge level indicator. I solved this by adding an external voltage meter, but it’s something to keep in mind if you like having that convenience. Overall, this battery strikes a great balance between weight, capacity, and price. It’s not the cheapest out there, but the portability and reliability make it a solid investment for serious boaters, kayak anglers, or even off-grid solar setups. Highly recommended.

Perfect for the Jon Boat

Worked pretty well for mounting a trolling motor on my kayak. With constant use and on full power about half of the day going up and downstream I got about 7 hours on a 25lbs thrust trolling motor pushing a kayak. I felt like the battery should've lasted longer, but I don't know if they come fully charged shipped and I already swapped it out for a lithium gel battery.

Not an exciting product to review but it works great. No complaints and the price was right. We're using it as a battery backup for our sump pump since it failed a year ago and flooded our basement.

Keeps a good charge all day and light weight for a battery

OK, small and seemingly powerful enough to run my trolling motor but have not tried it on the water. One aggravation: No bolts for the positive/negative poles, requiring and after purchase purchase. Amazon made it good by crediting my account for the cost of two bolts and nuts. The threads of the positive/negative poles seem to be machine fine thread. All this is odd because Newport products are normally glitchless.
