Awesome, especially for hardwood floors & stairs!
I've never owned a vacuum that makes you *want* to clean, but this one does! Whoever invented the illumination light is a genius. It shows every speck of dirt on the floor in front of you and when you vacuum, you get that satisfied feeling like after you've washed the windows & look through the clean glass. The unit is pretty lightweight and operates with a trigger which is really easy. Cleaning the canister is also easy. I love how convenient it is to vacuum our stairs - the vacuum head swivels perfectly and catches all the corners. We have quality carpet in all of our bedrooms and they have a thick, tight pile...I don't love this unit for cleaning those. It feels heavy & it's a little hard to push, I think that might be because the suction is strong (?) But for my throw rugs and hardwood floors, this vacuum rocks. I'm hoping it lasts; the vacuum heads are made of a relatively thin plastic so I have to be careful not to bang it against doorways, etc. The unit is pricey, but I would totally recommend it.

Pretty cool
Love it. Now when people say Dyson quality has gone down... Dyson isn't German manufacturing at its finest with perfectly crafted steel where every bit locks perfectly. Dyson is how can we engineer this with the least amount of material possible but make it holdup and perform well. Not everything fits perfectly and can be thrown around in a tantrum and survive. I like it for what it is a cordless vacuum that brings power and convenience. It's not a consistent powerhouse like my plug in but it does the job. The green light is disturbing because if you have pets you find out how disgusting your house is all the time and seems like it's never clean. There is an acceptance curve that comes with this. I love this machine for its practically. Cons are the seal in the canister is a pain in the a** and is very particular on how it needs to be to shut and every time you close it needs to be adjusted and you get your hands dirty. You need to buy aftermarket trigger lock because you have to hold down the trigger and hand gets tired. You have to buy a under the couch adapter thingy. But it has enough power and the refurbished model was great and a bargain. I think reviews calling a scam were just people that got frustrated or expected it to be as powerful as a corded model. It has great suction but if you're expecting it to be as good as corded you are setting yourself up for failure. I have come to love it

Oh- the detect light isn't a just a gimmick, it's for real.. It works. The vacuum is amazing too
Well, I honestly didn't think I'd be reviewing this any time soon or buying one considering the price, but then our stove caught our kitchen on fire along with my old beloved V10. Shoutout to my Dad's insurance for this V15. I'm what you would call a vacuum enthusiast, but my true love is with shop vacs. I make daily disasters in the shop. In the house on carpet and hard floor though, these cordless Dyson vacs (v10 or better) aren't a joke, they really work and they really replaced our old Dyson ball animal v2 completely. We have a 130lb infinite hair generator (yellow lab) and he generates as much hair as I do saw and metal dust. Not having to deal with a cord completely changed the way I vacuumed, from begrudgingly when my Dad told me to cause we're having company, to sort of enjoying it and doing it 4-5 times per week. I've shown the effectiveness of and actually sold 2 family members and 1 friend on cordless vacs. Unless you live in a small mansion with multiple pets I sincerely bet even an older or cheaper Dyson would suit your needs. Anyway how's the V15 compared to the V10? Yeah it's basically better in every way, unsurprisingly, but the surprise to me was the fact the green detect LED isn't some desperate gimmick, not entirely, it really shows just how clean (or not) your floors are. I'm not a clean freak, but the fluffy detect motorhead will reveal dirt dust and hair you didn't know was there. How much that actually matters is entirely dependent on your threshold for cleanliness but if nothing else it's a great visual reminder of what needs work and where you've been. The suction is fantastic and borderline ballistic on boost mode. I'm pretty confident I'll never encounter an actual need for boost mode but I'm so glad they added it. It doesn't feel any heavier than the v10 at the handle but it's been a minute since I've used the v10 as it got cooked. Battery life is impressive given the power. I could vacuum every single room of my dad's old 2700 sqft house with the v10 and an aftermarket 6.5ah battery in one charge. Given the higher suction and smaller 3.6ah battery of this v15 I hesitate to guess but I'd say it'd definitely be able to clean the vast majority's highest traffic/dirtiest areas on a charge for sure. The auto power adjustment was a little jarring at first and a feature I wasn't aware of, especially considering the 3 power settings you can still manually select, but it actually does it's thing and works great. I'm not sure if you can turn it off. The dust canister is easy and holds a similar if not larger amount of dust compared to the v10. The fluffy detect motorhead is actually eager to climb and hop some impressive elevation changes in your floor and floor dividers. On hard floors especially with the fluffy motorhead it's much more maneuverable and easier to push, but the carpet motorhead on carpet is definitely harder but not much more than the v10. It does a fantastic job on even medium to heavy pile carpet (Not those shag area rugs though) and makes lightning quick work of hard floors. For how much this costs you'd really hope it's good, and in my humble opinion it definitely is. Indoors this is the best vacuum I've ever used by 5 or 6 good country miles.

Beware - Dyson will not provide warranty support!
I'd like to share what I consider to be an extremely poor experience with Dyson. I purchased this vacuum from Amazon, received it on time, however upon receipt the battery refused to charge. I returned it to Amazon within the 30-day return window. It was promptly replaced, and the replacement worked fine. Thanks, Amazon! Fast forward about 6 months, and the battery once again would not charge. As it was now past the 30-day Amazon return window, I contacted Dyson warranty service directly as the vacuum should still be under the manufacturers warranty. The first issue with Dyson became immediately apparent - there is no way to contact and speak to anyone directly. Everything is done through an automated online system, and subsequent correspondence is via email from a generic email address from a random customer service representative. There is no phone number provided - all correspondence is via this email channel with no other contact information provided. The next, and worst part of this story - I went through their troubleshooting steps and it was determined I needed a new battery. This is after the first vacuum had a faulty battery upon delivery, and this new one has failed again less than 6 months later. This not what I expected from a $700 product that is supposed to be one of the best on the market. Well, that isn't all that happened.... After determining that I needed a new battery, they asked that I send my proof of purchase which I readily provided - my sales receipt from Amazon. This next part surprised, shocked, and infuriated me. They reviewed my sales receipt and replied back that my vacuum had been purchased from a non-authorized vendor, and I would be responsible for paying for a new battery out of pocket. How can this happen? I bought this from Amazon, right?! I argued back and forth, using only this email correspondence because there was no other way to contact them, and eventually just gave up. They would not stand behind their product because they claimed I purchased from an unauthorized seller!! I now have an worthless, unusable $700 vacuum decorating the back of my hall closet. I refuse to pay for another $75!! battery and find it absolutely absurd that Dyson would choose this approach for product support. Hopefully Amazon reads this review and fixes this issue for future buyers. I will never purchase another Dyson product - they have completely lost me as a customer. I hope this review helps someone make the right choice about which vacuum they choose.

Best Vacuum I Have Ever Owned
This vacuum will both change and ruin your life, because you will realize how dirty your home really is….😅 Best vacuum I have ever owned. For context: my wife has extremely thick, wavy hair and we have a medium size dog with medium length, wiry hair who sheds frequently. We live in a 2 bedroom home with hardwood and tile floors and some rugs. General Performance and Hair Pickup This was our main concern. We owned a Miele Cat and Dog C1 vacuum and my wife’s hair would tangle the brush to hell, making it a pain to clean. I cleaned our entire house without any tangles in the brush. The brush self detangles as it runs so it is perfect for houses with women/pets who shed. This thing is powerful. It will also adjust speed/suction based on the level of dust it detects. P.S. If you have issues with the rug/carpet brush to spin, adjust the speed to eco and lower the slide bar on the head. Battery Life This is where the vacuum lacks but for the power it outputs and being cordless, it’s understandable. On the auto setting, you’ll get about 45 minutes on the auto charge, 60 on eco, and about 30 on full power. A little annoying if your house is dirty and you’re in the groove of cleaning but have to stop to charge. Weight For a bigger guy like myself I find it to be the perfect weight but I can see it being heavy to use for smaller people with continuous use. Not heavier than a cord bag vacuum like a Miele but still on the heavier side for a stick vacuum. Storage Capacity For a stick vacuum, the storage capacity is pretty good. Depending on the size of your house/level of dirty, it can fill up somewhat quickly but it is easy to empty so it’s not an issue. Cleaning Super easy to clean the brushed and the collection bin. You empty it almost like a pump action, dirty dropping from the bottom. If you have some hair stuck around the filter, fully open and close it a few times and it will be pulled down by the inner rubber ring. The hardwood floor brush is like a microfiber material but easy to disassemble and clean. Watch a YouTube video to be sure but wash the brush with only cold water (the dirt will come off) and let it dry for 24 hours. DO NOT get internal brush head parts wet. Final Thoughts This vacuum is worth the money. We got it on sale for 20% off and we are extremely happy we did. Easy to use and clean, expertly cleans rugs and hardwood, and just a great all around machine. We own other Dyson products (hair care) but this purchase cemented us into being a Dyson household.

Winner compared to the V8 absolute
My Dyson v8 died two weeks ago. Yes, it was just the battery and it lasted 6 amazing years. My plan is still to replace the battery and move it to the basement for use, but in the meanwhile I took advantage of Amazon Prime day to make the pricey purchase of the v15 plus! It came in THREE boxes which was bizarre and wasteful, but the device was pre-charged so I put it to immediate use. In the short time I used it, it showed me how much those two weeks of no vacuuming made my house disgusting. The green light showed EVERY piece of dust in my house. It also collected all of them too! It was amazing and made my OCD kick in to high gear. I happily could’ve vacuumed my whole house for the whole day if the battery had lasted that long. I don’t think it was fully charged, but in AUTO mode it lasted about 25 mins. Switching to ECO mode showed an additional 10 mins on that time, but I decided to keep it in AUTO. ECO mode worked just as well, but slower. (EDIT 7/27/24 : the battery was not full when I took it out of the box and it actually lasts about 50 mins in auto and 90 in eco!!! Amazing!!!) It’s lighter than my v8 by maybe 1 lb(haven’t looked it up)? Super easy to use and I think most people would manage just fine. Downsides in comparison are that the canister is bigger (that’s also a plus mind you - less emptying) so it doesn’t fully reach the halfway point under my queen bed like the v8 did. That being said, the profile of the hard wood attachment is shorter in height and reaches better under low furniture! The v15 also doesn’t rotate as easily on the hardwood and makes it a bit clunky at times. Everything else is better though! Highly recommend purchasing (on sale), or if you time it right, get the exclusive v15 absolute on dysons actual website on sale. It wasn’t on sale for me and I couldn’t wait any longer without vacuuming. (Just a note that my whole house is mostly hardwood, with only the basement being carpet - I haven’t tested the carpet tool out yet)

Once you see the dust through this light, you CANT unsee it
I'm gonna rate my Dyson V15 detect with 4 stars for the reason that it's just too tiring at times. The unit is heavy and having to keep the power button pressed all the time while you clean can get really tiring. The other day, I tried to use an attachment to clean my laundry dryer vent deeply, and it gave me such a hard time holding the vaccum and the attchment plus looking inside the dryer making sure the vent is fully clean. Now the best elements - we have a pet for about 2 yrs now and some heavy duty area rugs in our living room which we assumed were clean (please note this is prior to buying Dyson) we had a diff brand vaccum that we thought was cleaning enough. But ever since we got Dyson V15, its been helping us eliminate the dust/pet hair/dirt from the rugs like anything. We didnt even know so much of the dust was trapped inside those area rugs. (see video) So many diff attachments are super helpful around the house, I don't have to move my expensive decor to be able to clean them, just use the right attachment and you're good to go. It just sucks up the dust/dirt/pet hair extremely well. And that's where I feel it's worth all the money I've spent on this single unit. Another favorite attachment is the detect attachment, once you see the dust through this light you just can't unsee it. Sometimes, I avoid cleaning using this attachment coz once you start seeing the dust you just can't stop in the middle and our living area is quite large. Next the battery life is close to 60 mins, sometimes it gives up early but I don't mind when I look around my clean floors. The atchemnt for the area rugs/carpets has a suction speed that can be set to low or high, I prefer it on low coz otherwise you just can't move the vaccum easily back n forth. It's just sticks to the rug. Good product overall, but having to keep the power button pressed is a turn off that too when you have so much to clean and some areas can be tricky to reach.

Excellent upgrade
Had a V8 for years and upgraded recently upgraded during the last Prime Day sale. Very impressed with the improvements, including the laser to see dust and the improved run time.

great suction
MY GOD....!!! I used this on Simple thin door rug, about 2' x 4' rug, and had to empty it! stairs (about 10 steps) and had to empty it again! and then a third bigger door rug, and had to empty it again! this thing picks up WAAAAAYYY more dirt and particles than my other budget friendly battery power vacuum. Its pricey, but 1st use has impressed. Shall see what its like in a few months...

Best purchase
Absolutely amazing! I vacuumed this rug with our central vacuum first, then used the Dyson V15. I couldn’t believe how much dirt it still picked up. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made!

wow!
I was looking at the v12 slim for in-between vacuuming touch-ups, but let myself he persuaded into the V-15 on promises that it could do the job of my canister vac. I'm so glad I did! Former stick vacs all had the same problem - they would vacuum up hair and dust (I have 2 dogs and 3 cats) but the plastic finds just kicked around any heavier grit (like cat litter). This has the fuzzy roller which picks up EVERYTHING - no scattering! And I thought the laser was unnecessary and a bit gimmicky - but it's for real. Which is both a good and a bad thing - it does make me feel like I'll never keep up! lol- run it over a floor you THINK is clean to the naked eye and you'll see what a mean. It also does a great job of showing up the little drips and spots where you actually need to wash the floor. I'm pretty excited about this vacuum - with the weight and size of it, and the fact that it is cordless, I know that I'll reach for it every day.
