Review of Native Union Desk Mat – Water-Resistant Dual-Sided Desk Pad. This a desk pad, at 650mm x 360mm can be for multiple uses, the pad arrives rolled up in a box, it is flexible and easily rolls flat on to the desk top, one normally considers writing mats to be solid but this thin and slightly soft and yet it allows one to write quite easily with a fountain pen, the surface non slip with a chequered strip at the top or bottom for extra grip if needed. We are told this made from recycled material including plastic yet the surface very similar to leather both in touch and look, this mat double sided with a different colour on the reverse side yet the leather like surface the same on both. This a nice addition to my office desk and looks really professional which is not really surprising as it made for a Paris based supplier. Of course one can use this for laptop with external mouse if required, the infra-red type mouse works extremely well on the leather look surface and seems more precise, the laptop and mat firm and do not slide at all, the mats large size easily accommodating both laptop and mouse when used together. I am amazed this made from recycled materials as the finish could be mistaken for leather, maybe a little heavy on one’s finances but certainly a very presentable and professional item.

At work I am in a cold environment that can also be quite messy so the idea of a large mat to protect the underside of my lap top - not to protect the work surface - seemed a good idea. I have the black and kraft mat and it is very stylish. It came in a good quality box, which I am using to store the mat in when I'm not working. The mat immediately lay flat on removal from the box which was a big plus point. It provides plenty of desk/counter coverage, the size is as stated, and it wipes down very easily. I was surprised my mouse did not move with its usual ease on this mat as opposed to my usual mouse mat. Movement of my mouse feels a little sticky, to the point I checked underneath it to ensure it was clean. It was and the mat continues to feel sticky to my mouse. It does not interfere with the signals the way cheaper mats can. To sum up, this is a very nice, large, stylish mat that at £39.99 is too expensive in my opinion.

I recently tested the Native Union Desk Mat, and I must say, I am quite impressed. Sized at 65cm x 36cm it not too big nor is it too small. It features a cross hatched pattern across the top of the mat (7cm deep). This stylish and functional water-resistant desk pad and is perfect for both home and office use. It is also large enough to accommodate a standard keyboard laptop and other items and use as a mouse mat however, I did find it’s not as fluid to use as a mouse mat I already have, and you did need to use a bit more force to push the mouse around. I think it just might need a bit of getting use to? I love the fact that it is dual-sided, allowing me to switch between both sides but having chosen the slate green and sandstone I’m not sure how long the sandstone will stay clean so it’s green to the top for me. The quality of the material is good and unlike other desk mat it not too soft that you can’t write on it with your pen sinking in. Overall, I recommend the Native Union Desk Mat for anyone looking to add both style and functionality to their workspace. Whilst the price may be a bit a little on the higher side, the quality and durability make it well worth the investment.

Despite using a variety of desk mats over the years - I don't think I'm the correct demographic for this one. The feel of it is great; warm to the touch and leather like - yet a mouse glides over it smoothly. Having it reversible is a nice touch - 2 for one - what a bargain(!) Thing is you'd need that at £40 at the time of review. It's too coarse to be used for a writing surface really. Had it been a hard surface so it could double up for craft cutting etc. then maybe? But it feels like vinyl. At the end of the day I would probably have still given this 4 stars due to it being at least pleasant to use - but after a week of use I still haven't managed to get it to lay fully flat or for the crease to drop out of it.

This is such a stylish but still functional water resistant double sided desk pad for home or office, which serves also as a mouse pad. It measures 25.6ins x 14.1ins (65cm x 36cm), and made from an 'animal free' and recycled alternative to leather. It is actually large enough to take a mouse, a laptop and other items too, and what I love about this, is you can flip it over for the alternative colour, to suit your mood at the time. Joking apart, you could use the "bright side colour" when viewing holiday photos / videos, and the "other darker side" when paying bills on line !! Because it is made of durable material, it will even keep your desk free from stains, spills and scratches. I have included 10 images to show the desk pad out the packing and in use, on either side, and it comes with a choice of colours too: Mine is Black / Kraft, Sand Stone, One of my images even shows an accidental spillage of coffee on the mouse mat, and how it cleans to perfection immediately. Thank you for a really nice product, which I have to say, once again, does bring some style to your PC work desk.

I work permanently from home and have my own home office setup. Whenever my other half works from home she has to set up on a glass table in the kitchen and run around looking for a mouse mat. The Native Union Desk Mat turns a slick glass table into a proper, suitable desk at a stroke. The mat is reasonably thick and has a faux leather feel. It is reversible and it's probably a good idea to decide on your favoured side so that you can roll it up in such a way that you minimise the time needed to flatten it after storage. Not that it has problems or anything. We prefer the black side, but I put the brown side up for photographic purposes and it's still perfectly flat.

I like it, it's the right size, thickness and decent quality, although it's expensive. However, it's really rubbish for using with a computer mouse. The mouse sticks to it, so there's constant friction to overcome when moving it. Although you can technically use a mouse, it's jerky, and you cannot make fine and small adjustments. Annoyingly, though, the mouse glides nicely over the alterative (tan coloured) side, which is unsuitable for my black desk. It's so bad I have to use a separate mouse mat.
