I was in doubt before buying this book as I couldn't find many reviews of it online, except here. And I love true horror stories so I doubt this book will cover places I have known but luckily it covers vast, diverse places I have never read before. Beautiful photos, although some are illustrations. Nicely bounded in an appropriate size so I can read it while lying in bed without tiring my hands. The only downside and it's maybe just my personal opinion is that the places covered were mostly in Europe (to be specific: UK). I think Asia has lots of potential to be covered, too, given its long history. Other than that this book doesn't disappoint and I can see myself reading this book over for at least a few times.

A very good book for people like me who love reading about paranormal.

Haunted history is a favorite of mine and this is great one to add to the library. Highly recommend

This book is the perfect amount of interesting paired with the perfect amount of creep! My father and I have spent a good amount of time reading through this since purchase! Some of the stories are unbelievable! My only complaint is that some of these stories are repeats from the shorter version of this they did around Halloween time.

Although smaller than a traditional coffee-table book, it has the same aesthetic: lovely cover with the smooth and visually appealing dust jacket often seen on more expensive books. I have read several of the pieces on hauntings and monstrous creatures, and they were interesting, and complemented with details from history. The photographs and illustrations were a perfect match to each entry.

. . . their SUPERNATURAL; SCARY; HORROR; and Bizarre-subject interest ME most. Never mind the political opinions of EITHER publication, the meat-and-potatoes issues for me are the creepy things in life. Give me book on ghosts and such, throw in The Sphinx; Pyramids; Stonehenge; and mysteries from the past, and I CANNOT put the book down. THIS one was top-notch, bed-side, page-turning, entertainment! Check it out!

Got this as a Christmas present for a friend who loves ghosts and supernatural things. It was a big hit. Neither one of us had heard of National Geographic putting out a book like this. My friend was very pleased with this book.
