Effective
This was prescribed by our vet, we were happy to find it on Amazon. Our 14 year old shar pei border collie cross has failing kidneys. This supplement has given us more time, allowing his stomach to do some of the work for his failing kidneys.

It Works
Easy to use and seem to be working as described. Our vet is pleased with the benefits it has on our dog. We feel the price is reasonable for the benefit.

Too soon to tell but dog seems to be sleeping through the night now
I haven’t given my dog enough doses to truly tell if this is making a difference but I can tell you that the past 2 nights he has slept through the night without incidents & has not been begging to go out several times through the night like usual. I’ve heard among pet parents that this is a great product but often hard to find as sold out or on back order on pet sites. Grateful that I found it here and hopeful that it will help my sweet boy He took it easy in a tiny piece of ham. It’s a tiny capsule that you need to keep refrigerated for maximum effectiveness. Bigger dogs like my sweet boy will take 1 in the morning and 1 at night The capsules are kind of pricey but most things that will help are so if it does, then I consider it worth it. Will order again if I see continued improvement. Also for those that will be seeking country of origin.. these are made in the United States I would order as soon as you know you need them as takes a bit to arrive.

We think these are beneficial for our eight pound elderly lady, Annie.
We inherited Miss Annie, but we love her as our own. Strangely, she came to us pre-diagnosed with kidney disease, but our subsequent vet visits haven’t given us the same results. Nevertheless, at her age some lessening of kidney capability is to be expected, and we like to know we’re doing all we can to keep her healthy and happy in her golden years. These should be refrigerated after opening, and I can get them down her, but I very much wish they were smaller. For a larger cat or dog adminstration would be easier. I wish they could be removed from their capsules and mixed with wet food, but alas you’re not supposed to do that either. So you MUST be able to get an intact capsule down your pet. I like the prebiotics and probiotics, as Annie has always had a sensitive tummy and I believe in those for myself as well. Whether or not she actually needs kidney support right now, these have caused no harm or side effects, and her stools have better consistency when I get this down her vs when I don’t. I just really wish they were smaller.

Tiny, Thin Capsules. Easy to Administer
These capsules are really small and thin. My dog sniffed but did not take them alone. So I had to put one in the center of a bite-sized treat. She wasn't repulsed by the smell, so that's how she easily took one. These have to be refrigerated afterwards. In terms of effectiveness, we'll have to see with time. I'm a little skeptical in its value since there are so many prebiotic/probiotic supplements in the market available for less. For now, I'm hesitant on whether I would personally want to repurchase. Pupdate: It’s been half a week so far. My dog is a farter and I’ve come to accept that she always will be. She’s an anxious rescue dog with an unknown history and anxious dogs tend to fart. But ever since she started taking this supplement, she hasn’t farted once. It’s interesting because the kibble I feed her already contains probiotics but she only stopped farting after starting this supplement. Either way, it was really nice to spend a day out with her in the car during this cold winter without any farting.

Great quality supplement
These tablets are super small but pack a lot in! The tiny size is perfect for being able to disguise as a treat by putting it inside of a piece of cheese, bread, etc. Conveniently shipped right to your house so you don't have to take an extra trip to the vet or pet store for refills!

Refrigerate After Opening
I have 2 cats with mid level Kidney Disease. According to the directions, once opened the bottle needs to be kept in the refrigerator which isn't a problem. The other requirement is that it must be given whole which is difficult because of the large size of the capsule and the stress of pilling a cat. So, I'm only able to give 1 capsule to them once a week with a pill popper when they get their fluids. Even so, I have noticed an improvement in the condition of their coats.

Must be given whole
While my 14-year-old cat doesn’t have CKD yet (he does have end-stage HCM), his last blood test results showed that he’s borderline, so I’ve been managing his phosphorous intake in his food, much to his dismay. I’ve been giving him an aluminum hydroxide-based supplement, but, of course, I wanted to see if there’s a better alternative. Enter Virbac’s Nephrodyl Synbiotic capsules. The price is considerably more expensive than the other supplement I’ve been buying, and because my cat toggles between 10 to 11 pounds, he’s borderline on the dosage chart for either giving him 1 or 2 capsules per day. I chose the former so I can stretch the 60-pill bottle to a two months’ supply, otherwise the price would be even more out of my budget’s reach. I wish I read through the directions before getting the product, because the capsule must be administered whole, not opened or crushed. It doesn’t say with or without food, but I give it to my cat right before his meal. Because he has severe heart issues, he’s on a lot of meds and supplements, so having to give him another whole pill — and the ordeal/fuss behind it — is more stressful than beneficial. Also, he's become averse to hiding pills in his food or pill pockets. I also haven't seen any sort of difference or improvement since giving him these kidney support supplements over another brand.
