Reasonable seeds
While my seeds did germinate they did so very poorly. The rate was slow and splotchy. I had better germination with Back to Roots brand. Con is for the price of this brand, Seed Needs, Back to roots only gives about 10 seeds per package. I thought it was my soil quality hower my basil and cilantro seeds (Seeds of change, Bentley, Ferry Morse) germinated just fine and exceeded expectations. Sadly this year's seed for the most part is a major dud. Update 05-03-26 I ended up goggling chives and how they germination. I went onto watch a couple of growth time lapses also. I noted that uneven germination is just how chives is. In short I increased my rating of these seeds as most of them did sprout and is currently thriving. I'd say overally it took about three weeks for most of these seeds to germinate. I may just repurchase. They aren't a bad buy and you get a good amount of seed for the price. Update July 10th, 2026 I ended up recovering my soil that these seeds were originally planted in. Looking at my first update, it's been two months since I planted these seeds. At the time a good 90 percent of these seeds did not germinate. I indoor garden only. My apartment sits around 70 degrees on average. Considering it was late spring when I planted these, they should of sprouted in 14 to 21 days or 2 to 3 weeks. That time span came and went. A week ago I used the same soil to start cilantro and scallions. Now part of my cliantro germinated, scallions have not just yet but what is currently germinating, these garlic scallions I planted two months ago. I tossed in two full packages, maybe three across multiple brands which includes this one Seed Needs. Looking at my planters now you'd think I intentionally planted garlic chives. Soil temperature at the original time of planting if I'm assuming correctly I had been around 70. I'm baffled as to why these didn't take off then. Mind you I did successfully grow normal chives prior to planting my garlic chives. Recent household temps I'd wager now is around 75 to 80ish since summer is in full swing. Chives is thriving now in a clay pot in between cilantro and scallions. I really wish these germinated when I originally planted them. I'd have a harvest by now. It's going to be tough to get all my volunteers together considering chives looks like skinny grass the 1st year you have them. These are still good seeds, I'm just wondering what the fluke had been in them germinating.

It’s been 14 days since I planted these seeds and nothing has sprouted. There was a lot of rainfall maybe soil became water logged. I hope it will germinate.
