Philips Hue Outdoor Power Supply, Black

It supplies the power required. Stood up the test of time. 2 years outside and still going strong. Bit expensive but it does the job.

Works perfectly, easy to setup

Upgraded a 40w power unit so I could add some more hue lights to outdoor set up. Now have a light strip and string lights from this 100w unit. (Also saves hassle of the oversized string light plug not fitting the outdoor plug sockets!)Very pleased.

Got this item on warehouse deal. Lot Cheaper. was new and sealed.

I will start by saying I am a big fan of the Hue outdoor lights, and particularly the low voltage accent lighting. I have bought a range of them as kits, and then added to them individually.Unfortunately this specific item has been a constant let down, and I had already had to have them replaced three times. I can see I am not the only person to have problems with this, but contacting Philips (Signify) direct they deny an issue with these, and instead say the 100W power supply should just be used with ‘much less’ than 100W of lights….! In each case of these failing, they have always had less than 100W of lights attached, and also been carefully positioned not to get wet.Highlights in the Hue range for me:- Lily small spotlights. These are brilliant for path lighting, tree up lighting, but best of all fixing to fencing and downlighting from there: they come with both ground spikes and wall mounts. Good value when on offer as kits of three.- Amarant wall washers. If you have the right location these are great.- Motion sensors. Not adjustable for angle, but they are battery powered (and the battery lasts and lasts) and can be set to activate any combination of lights - great for nighttime path illumination and security.So so:- Calla post lights. Available in two heights. We have a couple of the smaller ones in black. They give a nice light, and work well for path marking, but the feel and finish is a bit cheap - ‘plasticky’ - despite being expensive items.- Hue filament style bulbs fitted in standard outdoor lanterns. These should be a clever way to make standard lights smart, but we have had a couple of these fail within a year or so, and so like this power supply I don’t think the quality/reliability is there.Worth a miss:- These 100W power supplies. If laying out lighting again I would use multiple 40W supplies - I have never had one of those fail.- Lily XL spotlights. These are rather ungainly compared to the standard Lily, and I am not sure give that much more light. OK for tree up lighting, but try the standard Lily first.I would also say that the App to control these has improved a lot in the years we have been using the system.

The outdoor light power supplies that hue create are necessary for their outdoor lights, and the 100w provides more flexibility that the 40w supplies with most of the products, however both 40w and 100w power supplies have a bad habit of failing not long outside of their warranty period.For a product designed to be outdoor their resistance to the elements seems highly suspect, which is a shame because the lights this (and it’s predecessors have been powering) have lasted 8 years with no failures so far.

Solid item, seems to work well so far.

Longevity issues. I'm on my third one so buy when ever I see it on offer. They last about two years for me and I keep them in a sealed garden box so a bit disappointed in that.
