THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES , USA TODAY , AND INDIE BESTSELLER A BON APPETIT BEST COOKBOOK OF THE YEAR โข A FOOD NETWORK BEST COOKBOOK OF THE YEAR โข NATIONAL POST BEST COOKBOOK OF THE YEAR โข AN AOL BEST COOKBOOK OF THE YEAR โข NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS TO GIFT BY THE STRATEGIST, TASTING TABLE, AND FORBES RECIPES FOR BUSY PEOPLE WHO LOVE GOOD FOOD With three little boys less than two years apart and a packed schedule as an online creator, Caroline Chambers often doesnโt feel like cooking. Can you relate? When you just canโt motivate yourself in the kitchen, this is the simple cookbook you should reach for. Inspired by Caroโs wildly popular Substack newsletter of the same name, What to Cook When You Donโt Feel Like Cooking is brimming with efficient recipes that take the guesswork out of dinnerโin fact, each one is a complete meal: protein, veg, starch, done! The recipes are organized by the amount of time they take to cook, so whether you have 15 minutes to throw together Peanutty Pork and Brussels or a little bit longer to simmer Turkey Bolognese with Sneaky Veggies , dinnertime is totally doable. On top of that, Caro gives you more ways to choose, so you can search by protein (Chicken thighs waiting in the fridge? Make White Chicken Chili . Nothing but beans in the pantry? Cannellini Caprese with Burrata is it!) or mood ( Tomato Farrotto is perfect for a cozy craving, and Crunchy Honey Harissa Fish Tacos are an excellent way to show off). Most importantly, these recipes include Caroโs famously extensive swaps, riffs, tips, shortcuts, and more to be sure they work best for you, helping you save money, improvise, and even learn a thing or two. They donโt compromise quality or flavorโand they deliver every time. With as few ingredients, steps, and, of course, dirty dishes as possible, dinner awaits! Perfect for beginners and those seeking easy cookbooks for simple meals, What to Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking is the ultimate "I don't want to cook" cookbook. With its focus on efficient, flavorful recipes and minimal ingredients, this easy dinner cookbook appeals to time-constrained parents, working professionals, and anyone who craves delicious homemade meals without the fuss. Readers seeking uncomplicated cookbooks for beginners will appreciate Caroline Chambers' approachable style, clever shortcuts, and flexible recipe options, making this book a go-to resource for satisfying meals on even the most exhausting days. Review: Great staple, approachable cookbook! - I love this cookbook! I tend to collect cookbooks but really wanted this one because I felt like it would be something Iโd actually use regularly. Itโs also unlike any I have in its approach and appreciate that itโs broken down by time to put together. My only gripe, but not enough to deduct a star, is that you need to have a pretty well stocked fridge and pantry to make some of these recipes (such as red curry paste, fennel bulbs, and garam masala). So, a lot of recipes, even the 15 minute ones, still had me running to the grocery store to get things like ahi or spices. I didnโt mind because I felt like a lot of the things I picked up were ingredients my pantry could use for future recipes but just something keep in mind. That being said, Caroline does give tips at the beginning about how to stock your pantry and freezer so you wonโt be far from most of the recipes in the cookbook and I love her approachable writing style. She also gives great saving tips like how to fancify instant ramen and multiple ways to use store bought rotisrrrie chicken. Also, everything Iโve made so far (spiced cauliflower and chickpeas, everything crusted tuna, lemon garlic butter shrimp orzo, and pesto meatballs) has been delicious, easy, and definitely doable when you donโt feel like cooking! I also think Iโll pick up a few for friends and family! Review: Don't feel like Cooking? Buy What to Cook! - Caroline has written a smart, straight-forward, beautiful cookbook full of delicious recipes everyone can cook and learn from! What I especially love: * She's BOLDED her ingredients within the instructions - Genious! * Short on time or have a little more of it to savor longer in the kitchen? She's listed recipes By Time it Takes to Make! What to Cook in 15, 30, 45, etc minutes - she's got you covered! * She's given us suggestions on Swaps to make it work for your fam and taste preferences, how to Bulk it Up to feed a crowd, and helpful tips alongside many of these recipes that will save us time in the kitchen. * Plus we Learn some cooking skills as she shares kitchen time-saving hacks and tricks that help us be more proficient in the kitchen that she first learned from her mom and her own experiences! * It's more than a cookbook to follow recipes from - we learn from her and she encourages us to take liberty to adapt the recipes to make them our own, and become a happier more efficient cook in the process! My secret to cooking gourmet is as simple as buying this book RIGHT NOW!
I have been following Caro's substack for about a year and couldn't wait for this book to be in my hands. I have cooked probably 40 (50? 100?) of her recipes prior to cracking this baby open. I was so overwhelmed with the content (btw picture for every recipe!), I had to make a list of all the ones I am dying to make. That list is on the frig. GOALS. The thing I love most about her recipes is the outcome. The flavors, the little touches (zest, fresh grated cheeses, use of everyday household staples, fresh citrus, herbs) and her genius sauces really level up the meals I create in my tiny, basic kitchen. It tastes gourmet every time. 10/10 from every single person every time. The other things I love about her recipes is the way she organizes them, that she includes the ingredient amounts embedded within the recipe itself (so easy, such a gamechanger), that she offers substitutions if you do not have a particular ingredient, that she tries to empower you to not stress about missing a step or forgetting an ingredient- she does it herself!, and the suggestions she makes if you need to bulk a meal up for more people or a hungrier crowd. I am always so excited to cook for others because everyone always loves caro-met. This book isnt just a collection of recipes, it's a mindset shift (you will come to love her cooking and insist on taking back the grill). She has helped me build a foundation in cooking by trusting my taste and even relying on my own creativity at times. Your confidence in yourself will skyrocket through cooking these delicious and beautiful dishes. I never doubt my Caro. I made my first recipe last night from this book and it was a very enjoyable process and, man oh man, was that Peanutty Pork & Brussels recipe a smash hit. This book is organized by length of time estimated to cook each meal, and let's just say, I have some room to improve in that department. This 15min recipe took me about 35 min. There are also different indexes in the back that I will rely on as well. I cant recommend this collection enough! Do you and your household a favor, buy this book, make one of the first 10 recipes and I can guarantee you'll want to make a second.

Caro Is On a Roll!!!
So proud to be a WTC groupie for 4 years now. This book is the perfect culmination of what makes Caroline stand out as a recipe developer - she truly means it when she says sheโs creating recipes that are flavorful, require minimal ingredients/time/cleanup, and easy to follow. She is also a true expert in making cooking easy and approachable with all of her pro-tips, ingredient substitutions (for literally every single one!!!), and recommendations for varying palettes (picky kids, spice, flavor profile, etc.) Everything we make of hers is a SMASH with friends and family of all ages, and genuinely helps us expand our cooking and tastebud horizons. Iโm thrilled to advocate for this hardworking gal-pal and her latest venture, the long-awaited WTC book!! Make sure to try the Hella Green pasta and cheddar turkey burgers, and donโt forget you can soften butter by putting it in your pants ๐

Full of easy, great tasting recipes. easy to find ingredients. My fave cookbook.
I rarely leave cookbook reviews, as I am rarely impressed, but wow, this book is just full of winners. It has a great variety of menus that are fresh and easy to make. The author does not have exotic or hard to find ingredients, or preparations that are time consuming or difficult. I liked the book so much, I even got one for both my married daughters and they have made several meals from it and love the ease and taste of the food. The Lemon Pancakes are exquisite, making the Coconut Curry Ramen and Veggie Noodle soup again tonight. The author gives options for substitutions so I don't have to think too hard. Great book!

15 year old is cooking away
I borrowed thisfrom the library and loved it so much I bought our own copy. Perfect for beginners as well and seasoned cooks. My 15 year old has been cooking up a storm out of it. The recipes are written very clearly with easy to follow steps. The pictures are great and thereโs one for almost every recipe. Highly recommend

Love it!
What To Cook When You Donโt Feel Like Cooking (WTC for short) Substack was the best investment Iโve made in myself, and this cookbook delivers exactly what I love from the Substack. I took up cooking as a hobby in the pandemic, but had my first child on November 2021 and, frankly, did not feel like cooking. WTC brought the passion for cooking back by giving me easy-to-follow but still fancy recipes that taste delicious and I am proud to post them in my Instagram stories. I cook usually 2-3 WTC recipes a week. This book delivers exactly what I love about the Substack. I love that itโs organized by the amount of time the recipes take, which will give me inspiration for my weekly meal planning. The recipes are always so well written. I now am confident with grilling, which I always messed up before. My husband, who has a hard time following recipes and usually misses some key step, has no problem with WTC recipes and has commented on how much he likes how they are written. I also love that I can buy a book to introduce my friends and family to Caroline Chambers, rather than commit to a Substack subscription. If you are a Substack subscriber, most of the recipes are new. There are a few old favorites sprinkled in there (although some look tweaked/enhances and I am excited to revisit), but I was pleasantly surprised that the vast majority are new to me!

So tasty
This has quickly become one of the heaviest rotation cookbooks in our house! So tasty and easy, recipes are good right off the page and require very little help which I canโt say for all cookbooks

Very veggie unfriendly, sadly.
For anyone trying to cook less meat (or none at all), this cookbook simply won't work. Looking through the recipes, about 80-85% use meat or fish of some kind. It's such a shame, I really wanted to love it.
