The Bulletproof Diet: Lose Up to a Pound a Day, Reclaim Energy and Focus, Upgrade Your Life [Asprey, Dave, Virgin, J. J.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Bulletproof Diet: Lose Up to a Pound a Day, Reclaim Energy and Focus, Upgrade Your Life Review: My first book and bible for my weight loss journey - The title of this book contains "Diet". It should not have this word in it. This is a guide to how to make your own diet based on your own testing of how things effect you. The author tells the story of his life in a way that is easily relatable to yours self and explains metabolizm in a very easy to understand way yet is deep enough for a biochem major to be satisfied. This goes over almost every supplement, Food group and food additive you could find in 2017. He needs to do a 2nd edition. for those who wish to understand the reasons for obesity and learn the language this is a great starter book. Audio book is well narrated and pleasant to listen to. Be advised that the author sells health related products but to his credit they all do just as he describes in this book and the information is confirmed in many other books on the topic. Be advised low carb diets work but they are on or off. If you do low carb you will lose weight and if you eat carbs you will immediately gain it back. I lost 45 pounds and gained 20 back before I found that intermittent fasting and high quality carbs on special occasions was the answer to stay at a set weight. Holding that weight now for 5 years +/- 5 lbs. Thanks Dave for the great foundation to this journey! Review: This book may actually change your life - When I first heard of this diet, I thought to myself, it is going to be another Atkins/WheatBelly/KetoClarity variant with some new revelations and health benefits of certain herb and oil. It is really quite different. Unlike the others I mentioned, there is scientific evidence provided (with actual references!) for each claim being made. The diet, based on high-fat, medium-protein, low-carb, goes beyond just naming food groups that you should be eating. For each category of foods, Dave has ranked them essentially from least "toxic/kryptonite" to "beneficial/bulletproof". What was especially intriguing for me was the connection between many of the low-quality foods, containing natural and artificial toxins, that can promote inflammation, among other things. I have fluctuating joint and tendon issues that are linked to inflammation, so I was very interested in how to naturally relieve some of these problems. The book covers differences between grain- and grass-fed animal products in exquisite detail, as well as differences between the many types of fats and oils that are available for use. There's a little bit too much touting of his own "upgraded" brand of products, which are priced outside the reach of most people wanting to do this diet long term, but thankfully there are many acceptable substitutes here on desertcart, including other high quality brands of MCT oil, collagen, vanilla and cocoa powder, etc. I have now been doing the bulletproof intermittent fasting diet for a little over two weeks. In that time I've lost a solid amount of fat (need to use either calipers or a scale that measures this to really know), not just water weight. My stomach was slightly in shock at the beginning due to the high amount of fat/oil I was taking in first thing in the morning, but as I generally ate a lot of fat in my previous life it wasn't too dramatic. I'd suggest starting on the low end of the butter/oil amounts for your coffee. I use a nutri blender to mix my coffee and it is delicious. Besides weight loss, the change in mental focus/clarity is quite dramatic. MCT oil is a special product that actually does what it says. The diet really keeps me from being hungry at any time. Carbs are allowed too, so don't worry about banishing them, there is even a "carb day" you can have in a week.

This book may actually change your life
When I first heard of this diet, I thought to myself, it is going to be another Atkins/WheatBelly/KetoClarity variant with some new revelations and health benefits of certain herb and oil. It is actually pretty simple. Eat unprocessed foods
I did this diet for 1 month and lost 10 lbs. Unfortunately, I fell off the bandwagon but I have every intention of starting up again this week and sticking to it. This diet is not complicated as other reviewers have said. It is actually pretty simple. Eat unprocessed foods, do your butter coffee in the morning (use a blender), eat what you want in the evening making sure you are eating high fat, moderate protein, and low carb. Dave Asprey's website has a printable chart that lists food (Green - Go, Yellow - Okay in Moderation or if you are ok with it, Red - Don't Eat). You don't need to buy his brand of coffee (I didn't) nor do you need to buy his supplements (I did take Vitamin D and Magnesium/Potassium - not his brand). Plan on adding a little rice or mashed sweet potatoes to your meals once or twice a week for a carb spike. Just make sure you know how many carbs you are eating - a food tracking app can help in this department. That's it - easy right? My Experience: After doing this diet for a month (be aware that you may have a rough couple days as your body transitions) I lost weight, my skin was clearer and more supple, my brain felt clearer, I woke up feeling refreshed and had energy that lasted through the day. I did not get tired at work and I did not fall asleep on the couch at 6 or 7 pm, which happened frequently prior to the diet. I also became very in-tune with my body - I don't know how to describe it but you just start knowing what foods work with your body and what ones don't. I found that some of the "green" foods were not ok for me while some of the "yellow" foods my body was able to handle just fine. My significant other also did the diet and experienced the exact same things I did - although he lost about twice as much as I did. My final piece of advice is to look up the LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) diet that's popular in Sweden. The Bulletproof diet is really just a reworking of that diet with an emphasis on pasture-fed and organic.

For those who want to understand the biohacking principles and apply it for your daily routine is a must have.

I really appreciate that Dave Aspley has written this book - have reread it couple of times and will keep doing so. It gives so much background as to why - as the ideas are so non-traditional it can sometimes feel like you are caught up in a 'fad' but the explanations Dave gives allay my fears - also lots of references to scientific studies that are both informative and interesting. Love the Bulletproof recipes in the back... really yummy satisfying food.

Firstly. For those critical of the quasi (non) scientific aspect of the book, anyone who has studied nutrition for long knows there is a science lag, that most health claims work for some people and it is very hard to isolate diet in scientific research. The author provides a mixture of evidence and his own and others experiences to back his diet system up. Secondly. It's fairly readable. A nice looking, well put together book. It does seem a bit weak on how to apply it and having just read Keto-Clarity, it definately isn't a ketogenic diet; which I kind of follow. I doubt you would get the therapeutic benefit of Ketosis by swinging in out of that state like the other seems to advise. He says there are health and bad breath problems with keto-genic diets, yet keto-clarity seems to refute this. To properly adapt to ketosis takes about 6 weeks. This book will appeal to anyone interested in Ketogenic/Paleo/Price/Warrior diet/fasting type ideas and the fact that not everything seems completely kosher is just an opportunity for individuals to exercise discretion. All in all I think it is a fresh, interesting take on diet which will work ell for some and which contains some good ideas. I wouldn't but any of his other stuff as I don't have the money. I just grind my own coffee every morning and have MCT oil/coconut oil/Ghee/Cream and butter with it and a flask full for the day. It is lush and filling. God blessee. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
