Un excellent livre, facile d'accès et qui couvre (enfin) l'histoire du développement des chars aux USA dès l'origine et pas juste avant le second conflit mondial. C'est juste assez technique, juste assez historique (Afrique du nord-Italie-Europe du nord-Pacifique) et avec un bon aperçu sur les unités blindées, dont celles de Tank Destroyer (TD) qui sont les partenaires indissociables des chars. Des variantes et des versions négligées sont également traitées. Bref c'est complet ! J'ai enfin trouvé une mise en perspective et une étude sur l'emploi du M18, mon TD préféré (et très oublié). Donc si vous voulez une étude courte mais solide sur ce thème, n'hésitez plus. La suite (1945-2025) que je suis en train de lire, est du même niveau. PS : Il y a également " American Thunder: U.S. Army Tank Design, Development, and Doctrine in World War II " de Richard C. Anderson si vous voulez une étude exhaustive pour la 2e guerre mondiale...

Great book on American tanks from their origins up to the WW2

I own hundreds of books about WWII and tanks in particular, but this book is probably the best I've ever read so far! It's not only thoroughly deals with the development of US Tanks from 1917 to 1945, it contains everything you need to know from different TO&E's, technical data's, production numbers (separated by Factories), comparisons between the main adversaries, troop strengths, important battles and campaigns, Lend Lease Deliveries and, very important, losses of tanks and TD's in the ETO plus plenty more. If you are interested in tanks and US tanks of WWII in particular, you don't need to buy a bag of books to get the information you need and want, just buy this masterpiece.

Again, another well written and textual book on armored warfare within this timeframe. Steven Zaloga is premier in handling data points and history on armor. Never disappointed with him. Five star kudos!
