I have purchased the MR-13B model. It is cheaper on Amazon than model A and it is better in my opinion. There are several YouTube videos, describing both models in detail. Somehow you led to believe that model A splits the point and model B just thins the web. This is not true. Model B in my opinion is an improvement over model A. It allows you to achieve a true split point and has several ways of doing it. I am not going to write about every detail, but will concentrate on staff, which is not well described and is important in my opinion. This little machine is well engineered and constructed. It weighs 17.7 lb with collets, chuck and grinding wheel. There is no plastic anywhere except some electrical parts. The power supply is 120 VAC, 60 Hz. The cable can be separated from the unit. Electric part is very simple - there are a power receptacle, switch, rectifier bridge and a 110 VDC motor. There is no other electronics in the unit, so it has to be reliable. All parts are mounted on a 7 mm thick steel plate. They are steel (no aluminum here), machined and ground where necessary. That is how you achieve the accuracy needed for drill sharpening. For sharpening you have to setup each drill in the setup station at the left side of the machine. You use a chuck and a collet of the appropriate size. The collets are standard ER20 for sizes above 5 mm. For smaller sizes the collets are modified to include an extended nose and relieved bore. Drills smaller than 4 mm are very difficult to setup properly in this station and I would recommend to do a visual setup or just grind them by hand. The chuck has 2 bearings to reduce the collet clamping torque Once your drill is setup in the chuck you move it to a sharpening station, where you sharpen both lips by rotating the chuck back and force. This station has a bearing as well for easy rotation. If you want to split the point after sharpening, move your chuck to the top station and again rotate the chuck left and right. This operation is adjustable for the depth and width of the cut. The produced split point looks somewhat different from factory drills, but works the same way. The difference is because this machine uses just one wheel for sharpening and point splitting. The finished drill has 4 distinct cutting edges, just like the factory split points. This machine comes with CBN and diamond wheels, model A includes only CBN wheel The wheel is steel with plated layer of CBN or diamond grit. On the attached pictures I show the diamond wheel. It is 3" in diameter, 10 mm wide and has approximately 1/2" bore. The wheel is clamped to the adapter, which is attached to the motor shaft by 3 set screws. I have only tried the CBN wheel for HSS drills. It cuts very aggressively, but leaves an acceptable finish for bigger drills. For small drills you better find a different way of sharpening. Overall my level of satisfaction with this machine is very high. I am getting good drill grinds and nice split points. But don't fool yourself into thinking that it will do the grinding for you. You need to know what a good grind looks like and adjust the machine accordingly.

Sharpens drill perfect, heavy duty unit . Instructions that came with unit are not very good , thought I was getting second grinding wheel but unit did not come with one don’t know what happened there, the collets will hold bits 1/8” to 1/2” except 11/64” the collet you would use for 1/8” drill is at edge of gripping range so I purchased a er20 collet for 1/8” since I use lot of this size drills. Best sharpener I have ever used

If you are considering this, I would suggest reading the review, and then just buy it. It is a great machine, and very easy to use once you get some experience with it. This Vevor Drill Sharpener, made by MRCM, compares very favorably with machines costing ten and 20 times the price. I paid full price for the sharpener. Pros: It is very precise and accurate, and able to grind many different points on bits, including accurate split points (aka crankshaft grind) The components are all well machined and heavy duty. It is solidly built. (Which enables accurate and precise grinding) The standard grinding wheel is cubic boron nitride, CBN, which is an extremely hard abrasive, and, if you take your time, it is easy to get a surface finish that rivals new bits. MRCM makes a broad range of professional sharpening tools, and I think that the quality of the engineering in this drill sharpener shows, and makes it easy to use. Cons: The manual is limited. (E.g. the knob to adjust the split point center, and the Allen set screw to hold it were not documented in the manual that I have, but they do work, and enable you to adjust the grind axis to have precisely ground split points bits.) I recommend watching a video or two on YouTube (hint: look for videos of MRCM drill sharpeners). If you are new to drill sharpening, I also recommend any of the Cleveland Twist Drill pamphlets available various places, or the book that the pamphlets came from. I think that drill sharpening is not perhaps rocket science, but like any tool sharpening, does require attention to detail by the user. The holders for the bits are industry standard ER20 collets. You can also buy ER20 collets in SAE/Imperial sizes. It doesn't matter much for larger bits, but may be helpful for smaller bits. Replacement grinding wheels both CBN and diamond are available if you look for them, as are replacement chucks. MRCM is also known as Zhejiang Meiri Intelligent Machinery Company.

After re-sharpening a couple of dozen 118- and 135-degree drill bits, I'm generally impressed with the results. Grinds are symetrical, bits cut evenly on both faces, holes have minimal "wobble". The included instructions are pretty useless -- you'll need watch a YT video to get up to speed. The collet collection covers 1/8 - 1/2" bits. Collets are ER-20 and ER-25 style. Dialing-in the bit-diameter (web-diameter) is pretty low-precision -- the alignment arrow is an inch away from the dial. My biggest complaint is safety-related: while grinding the point angle on the side port, the abrasive wheel is visible in the top port and it's pretty hard to find a position that's out of the "line-of-fire". Eye/face protection is a must, and the same goes for respirator masks. The collet storage is okay (unless you transport the sharpener 'cuz all the collets will fall out of their retainer holes) but there's no place to put the workholder, kind of a big oversight IMO. All that aside, the unit consistently delivers sharp, well-formed drill bits, which, if you'll excuse the pun, is the whole point.

Fantastic machine. only complaint is that it should have some type of connection for dust collection. sharpens bits with ease, correct angles and quiet. a hook up for vacuum would be great. I now have to go wipe everything in my shop down to remove micro-metal from all surfaces. it could also be used wet ???

What an amazing item. I have never found a bit sharpener that worked 100% as good as this one. IM SO IMPRESSED!! I sharpened 40 bits my first go and randomly picked out 12 bits after being sharpened and everyone of them cut like butter. Fast and so easy to use. Also this product came 2 days early, in which impressed me too. I give this a 5.5 star rating.

First off I really wanted this machine so I ordered it and watched all the videos and read the booklet. It sharpened 12 bits absolutely beautiful. I have had several in my lifetime and was totally impressed. Was setting the bit had the machine on and it started laboring all by itself slowing down then speeding up. Turned it off and then it would not turn back on. I turned the wheel with my finger and it slowly started again. I sharpened one mor bit it was almost stopping. Turned it off a it wasn’t starting again. The back cut feature doesn’t work like in the video either. And last but not least had to pull one of those pins out with a tool would not come out with your fingers no way. When it worked it sharpened beautifully.

The Vevor MR-13B is a sturdy, well-made Drill Bit Sharpener. The motor is powerful but fairly quiet, the two included grinding wheels are precisely made, run true and seem like they will remain sharp for a long time. The included collets from about 2mm to 13mm are beautifully made as is the chuck they fit into. This seems like a well-made, precision tool that is built to last. However... The MR-13B has a lot of shortcomings and is demanding of its operator. In particular: 1- The manual is not very good at all... it doesn't even mention how to use all of the controls! 2- The drill setting block does indeed set the correct drill depth in the chuck, but it does not set the rotational angle very well on bits less than 5-6mm and not at all on bits less than 4mm. The bit must be aligned manually in this case. Getting the initial knob setting takes trial and error.... mine worked best by screwing all the way down, then backed one complete rotation out... this is not how it came out of the box! 3- While the MR-13B grinds the initial Point Angle very well, the shipping oil had loosened the Point Angle Setting sticker. It was necessary to clean off the oil and glue the sticker back on. 4- Mine came with a grossly over-tightened "Lip Relief Angle" / "Centering" (Web Thinning?) height adjustment knob. It was possible to loosen the thumbscrew with a great deal of force using pliers. After releasing the thumbscrew and cleaning off the shipping preservative, it works ok. 5- The Lip Relief Angle Height setting is important, but no mention is made of how to use it. It is labelled "Centering Adjustment" in the manual for no apparent reason. No further mention or explanation is made. On the machine, the knob is labelled "D" and "U" for Down and Up. 6- The Lip Relief Angle block has an easily-accessible Lateral (Centering?) adjustment by way of two set screws.... do NOT loosen these unless the Lip Relief angle is way off, as mine was. No mention of how to make this adjustment is available either. 7- The Lip Relief Angle grinding feature seems to work "OK-ish" on drills between about 5mm-9mm, 10-13mm gets a weird grind and nothing much happens at less than 4mm. Mostly, I just don't use it on these sizes. 8- The fan blade attached to the grinding wheel merrily flings grinding dust all over the place. Is this necessary? 9- The collet storage area is appallingly bad! The lid does not hold the collets in place as it easily could have, and there is no latch. Bump the MR-13B the wrong way and you will be picking up collets! No doubt results superior to mine can be attained by someone more talented than me. I would have probably been better off with the "Split point ONLY" MR-13A. Stuff that is not disadvantageous but you probably want to keep in mind: 1- The MR-13B uses 11 different-sized collets that fit into a chuck. It is slightly fiddly to assemble a collet into the chuck, and each collet only has about a 1-2mm spread. The collets and chuck work well, but it you are sharpening many different sized drill bits, changing the collets gets tedious. 2- The MR-13B has the optional SDC Grinding wheel for "Alloy Tungsten Steel" materials. As I understand it, this means it is for use with Carbide-tipped Drill bits and should not be used for standard drill bits. 3- The "Lip Relief Angle" / "Point Splitting" rotational adjustment is made by removable and reposition-able pins. These pins have no storage area and are easily lost. They measure 3mm x 12mm. 4- There are a few excellent YouTube videos and online forums about using the MR-13B. Watching/reading at least some is essential as the manual is so poor. 5- The MR-13B is HEAVY! Good for reducing resonances while running and also good as a convenient benchtop weight when not in use. In summary, the Vevor MR-13B: Is Sturdy, Well Made, Powerful and Inexpensive for what it is. Has a lot of potential for drill bit Fanatics (you know who you are!) Has an appallingly bad manual. Has a lot of surprising shortcomings, especially for those not very familiar with drill bits. If you have less than many dozens of drill bits, avoid! ADDED 10 Aug 2025: I designed and 3D printed an insert for the Collet Compartment Lid, so as to retain the collets in place. It is uploaded to Thingiverse, just search for "Vevor MR-13"....

und habe es heute erhalten. Natürlich habe ich den Bohrerschleifer sofort getestet. Er ist gut bedienbar und schleift die Bohrer mit sehr gutem Ergebnis. Schärfe und Freiwinkel stimmen, ebenso der Hinterschliff. Alles in Allem sehr gut. Die Ausführung des Gerätes ist sehr stabil und auch von der Handhabbarkeit gelungen. Es ist sehr leise und laufruhig. Ich testete die geschliffenen Bohrer an einer Platte aus hochlegiertem Edelstahl. Das Ergebnis war sehr gut. Kein Bohrer wurde stumpf oder brach gar aus. Habe mir heute die Mühe gemacht, und alle meine Bohrer (einige stammen noch aus der DDR) geschliffen. Sehr gute Ergebnisse, alles funktioniert. Der Kraftaufwand beim Ausrichten und Spannen ist bei Bohrern bis 4 mm hoch, nimmt mit zunehmendem Bohrerdurchmesser ab. Kaufempfehlung für den, der es benötigt.

E una macchina Spettacolare! Avevo visto le mille recensioni online della macchina e le mie aspettative erano alte, e devo dire che cio nonostante sono rimasto stupito di come affila le punte!! Una punta nuova non taglia bene come dopo essere stata affilata con questa affilatrice. La nuova versione arancione e a mio avviso molto piu bella della versione gialla che si vede in tutti i video di youtube. Direi che sono entusiasta di questa macchina e non posso che consigliarla.

Für Privat relativ teuer, die Bedienung und das Ergebnis sind sehr gut. Nicht zu vergleichen mit günstigen Geräten oder Hilfsmittel. Meine letzte, überall hochgelobte, DrillDoctor-Kopie kann nicht Ansatzweise mithalten. Vom bohren nach dem Schleifen vielleicht nicht zu 100% wie neu vom Markenhersteller(wie Gühring/Ruko), aber es kommt verdammt nah ran. Alles in allem, wirklich empfehlenswert.
