Best known for boat shoes that have logged more miles of open ocean than any other brand, the Sperry Top-Sider story began on a raw winter day in New England. When avid sailor and hobbyist inventor Paul Sperry let his dog Prince out for his daily exercise, he noticed that the cocker spaniel was remarkably stable, even at a full run on the snow covered, icy crust. Paul raced back to his laboratory to begin working. Using pieces of rubber, a razor blade, and an ordinary sneaker, Paul had soon pieced together the prototype of the world's first boat shoe. Subsequent designs yielded the original Sperry Top-Sider now known as the Authentic Original. Since 1935, Sperry Top-Sider has been the leading brand of footwear for those who love the water. From its introduction of the world's first siped rubber outsole for non-marking traction, to its advanced technical fabrication to combat the elements, Sperry Top-Sider remains the vanguard of high-performance amphibious footwear. Available around the globe in fine independent, marine, and department stores, Sperry Top-Sider is the official footwear of the U.S. Sailing Team, Zodiac Academy, the World Billfish Series, and the Shimano Fishing Tour.

Best of the Best
Sperry Cup is the best of the best when it comes to boat shoes. Comfortable and rugged and as good looking on land as on water. Fits true to size for my foot except a tad loose around the heel. Constant use during the warmer months around yard and house.

Great shoes
I generally wear a 10 in Nike's and that is what I use as a measuring stick for shoes. I got a 9.5 and they are about a 1/4 size too large. My feet are somewhat narrow though, so that is probably the main issue. I love the shoes, they're super comfortable(I did have to double up on in-soles for them to fit properly). I even ordered a pair of the same shoes in the Oatmeal color, only a half size smaller.

Great Shoes
These are the greatest shoes since shoes were worn by man. They are unbelievably comfortable and exceedingly handsome. I received such a good deal, I bought 2 pair. The wear well, and last long if taken care of. I would buy them again if they go on sale for under $50. It only took 4 days to get them with free shipping option. Buy some, you too can look suave and debonair. I have previously purchased 4 other pair and still wear the real old ones for kicking dirt ant mowing lawns, etc. The new pairs will be worn for some time to dress up casually. I would recommend for every male that wears casual boat shoes.

Great shoe, strange sizing
First the shoe looks absolutely fantastic. It's a great summer shoe and looks good with shorts or pants. The quality and build seem solid. They are a little uncomfortable right out of the box, but they are starting to break in nicely after wearing them a few times. I'm giving them 4 stars based on all those facts...I really like the shoe and have received several compliments on them. The one thing I cannot figure out is the sizing. I've been a size 13 for at least 20 years. If anything, I occasionally have to size up to a 14 in some styles (some running shoes, dress shoes, and Sanuks). I haven't worn a single size 12 shoe since middle school. I ordered a 13 and it was enormous...a full size too big. I returned them and thought I must have received a pair from a bad batch off the line. I reordered a pair in size 13 and a pair in size 12 (based on other reviews about sizing) about 2 months later. The 13 was still a full size too big and the 12 basically fit perfectly, so I kept them.My foot probably runs medium-narrow and the 12 might not have worked for me is I had a particularly wide foot, but the length was fine. If you're thinking about ordering, it might make sense to order multiple sizes or try on in a store before you buy. As I stated earlier, I really like the shoes...I just think that based on my experiences and the experiences of many other reviewers, the sizing seems very inconsistent. They were worth the trouble, but it was a bit of a pain trying to figure out exactly what size I needed.

Great footwear !
I have been wearing Sperry Top-Sider shoes for most of my adult life, and, once broken in, they are as comfortable a shoe as you will find. I generally wear them until the soles need replacing, ship them out for repair, and continue on as long as the leather uppers hold together. This model, the Sperry Cup Boat, Dark Brown, was very hard to find for a period of several years, and possibly not being produced by Sperry at that time. I was very happy to find them on Amazon a few months ago, and ordered a pair for my brother, as well.

Very
When i ordered this shoes they were among the very few models i liked. I was very happy how they hug my foot, how comfortable they were. I wore them for three and a half months every day. At the end of that period, the leather broke at the heel of the left shoe. In the next two weeks the leather broke on three more spots on the both shoes. I contacted the seller and they agreed to take the pair back as defective. Compared to Sebago this shoes are classes way too comfortable. Still, i wore Sebago for 4 months every day - they did not move a stitch. The down side is that Sebago is very stiff and the insole is very hard, there is no cushioning whatsoever and often after a long day my feet were hurting.Srerry is a very comfortable shoe to wear for long periods and i enjoyed every minute of it.I will consider that i just received a defective pair and will give Sperry another try.

it is not as good as it used to be
Simply, the size was way off the margin at least for me. I used to this exactly shoe for the last 10years and when you dispose the old one and fit the new one you may expect the new one to be a bit tight until it breaks down in a day or two. Not the case here it was easy larger right out of the box. It seems like the form got loose. Not as fine as it was two-three years ago.Had to ship it back. Thanks to amazon policies, no pain here.
