Consistently The Most Comfortable Walking Shoes I've Owned
I've never reviewed Amazon shoe purchases but after so many great pairs bought over the last 14 years I thought its time to kick in my 2 cents. Comfort along with price have always been my criteria for shoes and I can honestly say after 14 pair of various NB running/walking/training shoes they consistently exceed my criteria! Always an excellent size 12 fit (USA), light, durable, and good looking. Just can't beat them. Have tried others but they never match up. I always look for the Amazon best price across the various running, walking, sport styles when I'm ready for the next pair and in reality have found very little difference in the model. I've had 680V7, 520V8, 520V7, M675V3, MX608V4 and this latest Arishi V4 Running shoe which have all been great. I usually can find my size and color at a discounted $55 price point while most remain at $80-$100. Has always worked out well. Overall New Balance is my absolute go-to shoe!

Very impressed
I had to order a half size bigger than I usually wear. Because they run tight. However they're light as air and comfortable as a cloud. The best thing is they are made in the United States.

Comfortable from the first run
Cushioning is soft without feeling unstable and there was no break in period. The upper breathes well and the fit ran true to size. A good everyday trainer for the price.

Great for long amounts of walking
Great walking shoes, I do walk for my job and this helped quite a bit. Not really slip on shoes. The heel is tight enough youll have to stop and tie it every time unpess you wear it super loose. Pretty flexible overall with a bit cheaper cloth matetial on the outside.

But these to replace a discontinued style of New balance
I only wear New balance and bought these as a replacement for a previous pair. They discontinued the style so I opted for this one instead. Fit the same very comfortable I'm very happy with them. The only thing that I have to say is that in the picture they look a little bit more on the brown side and when I got them they were more gray. Which is fine but that's the same color as my previous pair were and I was hoping to try and find something as slightly different. So I would give it four and a half stars but I can't. I also tried the wide version of this shoe and I'm pleased that I did. It gives me just a little bit more space than I had before.

Very different from older model Arishis
Purchased to replace my original Fresh Foam Arishis, which since the first day have been very comfortable and fairly resilient to amost everything that I've put them through over many years. The V4, I have found to be very different. Side by side my old ones and the V4s look very similar in profile, style, colors, etc. However, the V4 footbed feels very odd with some weirdly placed outer support humps, that ended up giving me major foot pain after a few days of wearing. The sizing is also a little different, the V1 I wore an 11, the V4 I need 11.5. The V1 upper, though "unstructured" securely hold my foot in a placement that a show should, where the V4 seems to be "unstructured" but more like a sock, and no matter how I set the strings it doesn't really fit securely to my foot causing slightly messy/sliding around/always adjusting footsteps. They're shoes, they protect my bare feet from the ground, but I likely will be donating them and will continue to wear my old V1s for as long as i can make them last. Best to try on before buying, if possible.

Durable for price point!
I'm normally very rough on shoes. These have withstood 4 months with no fraying or broken laces. They're very worth the value in my opinion. I'm very impressed with the durability and functionality of the shoe. I will more than likely be buying these again, if the ones I got now ever do wear out, or I want a different color option. The shoes are definitely meant for runners/athletes. The aerated front portion of the shoes ensures that your foot maintains cover of airflow which substantially cuts down on smells from trapped perspiration. Obviously, ordering a size 15 tells you that I'm a big guy. However, the sole of the shoes has been outstanding. The heel portion does not leave me sore and the ball-of-foot portion does not leave me feeling like I have pins/needles in my foot after a run. I put them through the test of all tests for wearing shoes. They survived 4 days of 17,000+ steps in Walt Disney World parks (Orlando, Florida) during the day. No intention of throwing shade, but I purchased a pair of shoes from Disney Springs at a whopping $150 dollars that didn't make it past 7 months - it was a big brand that has celebrity collaborations! As far as shoes go, and I'm not just saying this because shoes are normally so expensive for me due to my size, these compare with a pair of Asics as far as comfortability and durability. They don't quite meet Merrill quality, but if they tweaked the materials they use for the sole without sacrificing price going with a Vibram sole, they could be very close.

Good for Short Wear, But Toe Box Fit Breaks Down on Longer Walks
I tested the New Balance Men’s Fresh Foam Arishi V4 Running Shoes primarily for walking and light daily use, with multiple sessions ranging from quick errands to 3+ mile walks. Fit & Sizing: Length felt true to size, but the toe box on my pair tapered more than expected—particularly noticeable on my right foot. While not immediately uncomfortable, the shape becomes a factor over time. Comfort & Cushioning: The Fresh Foam midsole provides a soft, moderately responsive ride during the first mile or so. Step-in comfort is solid, and the shoe feels lightweight and flexible. For short-duration wear, it performs well and doesn’t feel fatiguing. Where It Falls Short: On longer walks (around 2–3 miles and beyond), I experienced consistent friction against my right big toe. This wasn’t a one-off issue—I tested with different socks and adjusted lacing tension, but the rubbing persisted. Over time, it became distracting enough that I had to cut walks short. This suggests the toe box shape may not accommodate slight asymmetry between feet (which is common for many people), or it may run a bit narrow/angled in that area. Breathability & Build: The upper is lightweight and breathable, which helps with temperature control, and the overall construction feels appropriate for the price point. No issues with stitching or materials so far. Best Use Case: • Short walks • Casual, everyday wear • Light gym use Not Ideal For: • Long-distance walking • All-day standing • Anyone sensitive to toe box pressure or with slightly wider forefoot dimensions Pros: • Lightweight and flexible • Good initial cushioning • Clean, versatile design Cons: • Toe box caused repeated rubbing on right big toe • Comfort diminishes over longer distances • Fit may not suit wider or uneven foot shapes Final Verdict: This is a decent entry-level lifestyle/walking shoe, but not one I’d rely on for extended wear. If your usage is mostly short outings, it should perform fine. For longer walks, I’d recommend looking at models with a roomier toe box and more consistent long-distance comfort.

Very comfortable and extra light
Right from the box, they were comfortable and very light. Exactly what I expected. 9 4E was the exact size for me. The other NB, that I still use are 928 3V; comfortable walking shoes but a little bit heavier. Someone in the shoe business told me that these days people are buying running shoes for walking exactly because they are generally lighter. I can tell you that I can feel the difference. The future will tell If I will be using running shoes instead of walking shoes for walking.
