Very good product but check this out before use!!!
Purchased two of these water butts about 4-5 years ago. The butts are well-made and robust. However, I noticed around the base of one seemed to be continually wet. On investigation, I found the base of the butt had a small indention with a small crack in it where the water was seeping out. The cause of the indentation was due to a lump/spike on the stand. I think this was the moulding process injection point and the sprue had not been removed. Over time the water butt had stressed at this point and cracked. The other water butt had the same sprues but the butt had not yet failed. Before using this product I strongly suggest any sprues are removed carefully with a sharp blade.

Caused a problem for me - so beware when installing
Yes - it’s a good product.Yes - the benefits of harvesting rainwater speak for themselves in terms of the environmental impact and the long term cost savings, eventuallyYes - it’s simple and quick to install, although I wasn’t initially comfortable with cutting the drainpipe on my house.Yes - it’s reasonably well made - light enough to move around and position empty, but sturdy when full.Yes - the tap and fixings work well.Yes - the simple installation instructions are easily to followYes - it should last indefinitelyBUT I had a real issue with the installation - AND there’s a part missing. This missing part is the lever to turn the locking mechanism to secure the lid - in reality you don’t really need this as it clips in securely - however it’s a bit of an oversight, is frustrating, but not enough for me to return it. If you need to secure the lid, then beware. I bought two of these to daisy chain together and they both don’t have this part (see picture for where the lever should fit). I also learned a lesson about this, more info below if you’re planning to do this! This is quick and simple to install. The main issue I had was when cutting the drainpipe. It wasn’t tight enough to the wall, slipped down when I took the piece out, and caused an angle joint to fall down from the top of the pipe. Yes it hit me, no it’s not funny! Well, it is a bit! BUT I’m still struggling to find someone to put it back. This is NOT a fault of the product, but BEWARE when you do this and make sure you don’t let the pipe slip. Maybe get someone to help and hold the pipe for you whilst you fix in the diverter piece.Watch some online videos before you start to install as it will make the process easier for you - it’s a fairly generic process, but follow the instructions that come with the product, not the online videos. One of those videos tells you to use a knife to make the hole for the diverter bigger - I’d just recommend buying the right bit for your drill rather than doing this, if you cut the hole too big you will have a problem as the water could escape!!!Just a final piece of obvious advice, (see picture) ensure one of the recesses on the base is central to the tap, as you’ll need to get a bucket or watering can in close when you take out the water.I bought the daisy chain fitting from Amazon, and this included a cutter for the hole, which was helpful when joining them. However you will see from the picture I installed this at the top of the barrel, as per the instructions. I’d recommend you research this and put it at the bottom of the barrel then you’ll be able to use any tap in the chai as the level will equalise between the water butts. Doing this will be particularly good if your planning to attack a hose or a pump to the system.Mainly as a result of the missing catch lever I have only given this 4 stars. The drainpipe is MY issue and would be the same for any product I bought - but heed my advice, whichever one you go for

Really good
Nice and easy to install, just be careful you check the tap is tight enough before you fill it.

Stylish , decorative and functional
I did not want an ugly water butt in my garden. When I found this I was delighted. It’s even better in situ. And you can have trailing plants in the top.Stylish , decorative yet functional. Very pleased

Good
This butt collects water very well. I was a little worried that the tap would leak as it just screws in to the plastic body. Before screwing it in I put some plumbers tape around it and I've found that it doesn't leak at all, even with the weight of water in a full butt. The lid can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to fitting it tightly. I had to fiddle with it a lot to get a tight fit. Competitively priced compared to garden centres. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

Good quality at a good price
The stand is much more stable and substantial than the stand on my previous (slim line) water butt. A good size, the tap works and the filler kit is simple and effective. As regards the lockable lid. Negative points - you need a screw driver or blade to lock and unlock it. Positive points - the fact that you need an implement to unlock it means it is less likely to be opened by children who are tempted to look inside. Having said that, the ideal system would be where a twist handle could be used to open/close it, but there was also the option to secure it with a padlock.

Wassertonne
