I've read that the assembly was difficult. I wonder if they tried loosening the screws before they attached the bars, it slides ride in. If it didn't go in the first time, did they assume it would come together 10-30 minutes later by the same method?

Assembly difficult
There is a bolt that attaches the handle bars to the vertical post. It has blue threadlock on it. It makes it VERY difficult to thread through the nut that is in the post. If you are strong enough to hold the post while it twists under the pressure of screwing in the nut then you are fine. An older person or a weaker person would have difficulty attaching it.
