Review: Great Book after replacing - After the exam - I did pass on the first try and this book was my main source for study. I passed with flying colors and this book was the best study material I used. I tried a couple web based trainings out and looked into other books but I tend to be fairly driven and find most material slow for my taste. This book allowed me to go at my own pace and the video overviews of each section filled in any gaps. I would highly recommend this book for anyone taking the exam. Quality concerns - The first copy I got is missing the key needed to access the online portion. The second copy sent as a replacement copy was also missing a key. I ended up reaching out the company that made the book and they took care of me. They also sent me a third replacement copy directly that is of much higher quality leaving me to believe the versions from desertcart may have been forgeries. a Actual material – The actual material of the book has been fantastic. I have tried a couple other books and web-based trainings and so far, I have found my self-study with this book to be the best. There is no fluff and it also isn’t super dry. I would highly recommend to anyone taking the PMP exam to use this book as party of their study plan. Minor complaints – for the price, I would have liked for the book to be printed on thicker paper. This is a minor thing really but you can see a little bit of ghosting from the next page. Color for the diagrams would have been nice as well but again very minor in this case and the book is augmented with little videos that help as well. Review: Earned my PMP on the first try! - I found this book to be extremely helpful while studying for the PMP exam. The course where I earned my PDUs was not very helpful in explaining the concepts of the process framework. I almost exclusively used this book for studying and I went from a very basic understanding of the PMBOK to passing the PMP exam with above targets in every process group within two months. I felt that this book does a great job of laying out the concepts in a way that made it easy to comprehend. I went through this book and then repeatedly took the exam at the end of the book as well as the free exam prep that was available through Velociteach. Videos are included but I didn't watch any of them; I just read the book and made a lot of flashcards. The two weeks prior to the exam I used free PMP practice tests you can find online and studied the flash cards I made from this book. The book is generic and while studying I would just search online for more in depth explanations as needed based on practice exam performance. Overall a great resource, highly recommend.

pretty good guide - cleared PMP
I took some time to come back and write this review because I owe a lot to this guide for clearing my PMP. I failed the first time because I did not refer to the right resources and honestly did not understand many of the concepts. I only did two things to clear the PMP. (Even though it's recommended that you read PMBOK guide, I could not do it. It's very dry). 1) Read and understood all that's said in this book. Understanding all the concepts make you more confident. 2) After finishing this book, I purchased the practice test from pm-exam-simulator.com. They have around 8 tests. It's an easy process to understand whether you are ready or not. If you can score more than 80% in their practice tests at the first attempt, you are good to go. I was able to achieve that only after the 6th practice test. But try to attempt the questions honestly. If you have a doubt, go this book and clarify for answers and or concepts. Few golden tips: 1) By heart and chew the tasks given in the PMI PMP Examination Content Outline. There are so many questions that can be answered if you just know this properly. 2) Know all the 49 process and their corresponding domain. Hope this helps for someone looking to clear PMP.

Over Prepared and Passed Above Target
I come from a company with little traditional Project Management experience, and before applying I only took a very PMBOK focused Lynda course. I purchased this book and read it cover to cover, took all the chapter tests, watched most of the free videos, took the online test once, and took the final exam twice. Thanks to all that prep, I passed Above Target in all areas yesterday!! I loved how "real talk" this book was. I will be using it as I redesign our processes. I actually feel like I understand the PMBOK processes and could actually apply them. That is worth way more than the $70 this book cost me! My only critique of the book is that the final exam question were way harder than the actual PMP test. This is normally a great thing, but the actual form of the questions was deceiving. The book included a ton of "which of these does not apply", and I didn't encounter anything like that. So this guide got me WAY more nervous than I probably needed to be. So awesome content, but the practice tests are not going to feel exactly like the PMP exam.

I passed on my first try too!
I studied for the PMP for around 4 months. I did not study day in day out, but relied 100% on this book to learn the material. I read the full book front to back and did the practice questions after each chapter. After completing the book, I reviewed the content and my notes then took the 200 question practice exam. I ended up scoring around a 52% and the book estimates you will pass with an 80%. Of course, I knew I wasn't ready, so I spent 1 week using the free trial practice test online, and 1 week before the exam did more practice questions. I think reading the book once and reviewing it, then doing hundreds of practice questions (from free apps to the Velocitech site) will help prepare you for the exam. I also purchased the PMP Velocitech cheat sheet which helped a lot in memorizing critical formulas and the high-level concepts. The only bad feedback I have on the PMP exam is it had nearly 99% questions describing a scenario and requesting you to choose what the project manager would do and 1% formulas. I felt like the book had a lot more variability in the questions and I actually enjoyed the questions in the book much more than the actual PMP as it was so redundant. I think the book questions helped me learn the concepts, and weren't as boring as the actual exam.

This is all you need to pass... seriously!
My company paid for a one week "PMP boot camp" class with KnowledgeSource which was $2k and provided two books, the blue "PMP Exam Prep Questions" book and the white Crosswinds book. This book from Andy Crowe was WAY more helpful and easy to follow than the boot camp and two other books combined. While I used the other books for test questions, after taking the exam I can confidently say that this book is the reason I passed (And was in the top 15th percentile I might add :) ). This book was easy to read and follow, and the questions were a bit harder than what I found on the exam which was great - you might say I was over-prepared. I wish every exam I took had a book as comprehensive and easy to learn from as this. It reads like someone talking to you like a person, not just boring text. Also - the answer explanations actually tell you why the answer was right and why the others were wrong. All the other books I saw just re-stated the answer and would say "all the other choices are distracters". Not helpful. This one though, 5 stars! Could not recommend enough.

Passed on the first try with above target in all areas.
I took the PMP on December 12, 2018 and passed above target in all areas on my first try. I did not even open the PMBOK and used only two sources: Andy Crowe’s Book and Rita Mulcahy’s book. Andy Crowe has a website and I also purchased access to one of his 200 question practice tests. I purchased Andy Crowe’s book on Amazon and Rita’s book on the RMC website. I originally started studying right when the test switched to the new version which made things really difficult due to the fact no resources were available. When I bought Rita’s book it was $100. I studied for roughly 6 weeks and used Rita’s book for the first 3 weeks, Andy’s book for the next 2 weeks and then did just practice questions the last week. The test is 200 questions at took me all 4 hours to complete. The test is fairly difficult and the thing that I think helped me the most was doing hundreds of practice questions to help in understanding how the questions will be worded on the exam. The best questions were on Andy Crowe’s website (Velociteach Insite). The questions there helped me to understand the type of questions on the exam. I also like how Andy Crowe’s book is setup in the form of showing all process areas and the ITTO’s. I did not memorize the ITTO’s and don’t think it is necessary but I was able to memorize the process chart which I think is important in order to pass. If you are studying right, memorizing this chart is an outcome of studying. The majority of my 200 questions were situational asking what the PM would do next or asking about different tools. I had 1 question asking about a network diagram which was an easy question and maybe 5 asking about Earned Value. Rita’s book and Andy’s book are very different in how to study for some of the questions which was frustrating and confusing. For example, Andy teaches the critical path method for network diagrams and Rita does not use this as the main method. The other confusing point was whether to start a network diagram at day 1 or 0. Rita also has many different formulas for calculating EAC and Andy Crowe just said to memorize one. Before the test I was able to brain dump 19 different formulas and only needed two of them for the test. Overall, the test isn’t easy but if you study and do hundreds of practice questions, you can pass on your first try. Spend a few weeks studying and you’ll be just fine. If I had to choose only one source for studying, I would choose Andy Crowe’s book and his online practice tests. I don’t think you need more than one book. Andy Crowe’s questions in the book are closer to what is on the exam. Rita’s practice questions are easier than on the exam IMO.

Passing the PMP takes work, and you have to put in the work. This book is a great road map!
I tried taking the PMP just by reviewing the PMBOK and taking an online course through UDEMY. The course was good, but the test was more difficult than I thought it would be and I failed the first time. Got this book, went through it methodically, and rescheduled the test. I scored the highest in all categories except 1 and in that category I was 2nd highest. I didn't just pass I owned the PMP exam, and that was a GREAT feeling. This book was the best investment I could make. If you get this book, and do the work, you should pass. But again you need to put in the work. This is not a book to "cheat your way" to the PMP. It's a great framework for focusing your studies on the material in the proper way that the exam is looking for. I spent approximately 2 hours a night for 4 months with this book before I retook the exam earned my PMP. Highly recommend this resource!

A must have
A PMP prep book is a must have when you prepare for PMP exam. This one is very easy to read with a lot of insights ! There are questions at the end of each process area. The 200 question mock test at the end of the book, was harder than the actual exam to me. That helped a lot to learn. I read the PMBOK in 2 weeks and Crowe’s book in a week and passed my PMP exam on 1 st attempt within 5 weeks of preparation. I would say that Crowe’s book is what helped me the most!
