Perfect Size For A Family Of 3-5
I have an older, much larger industrial sized crock pot that was just too large for making soups, stews, and roasts for my family. Because it was so large, soups and stews were very shallow (unless I doubled or tripled the recipe), and as a result, they frequently burned. This not only deteriorated quite a few meals, and made for unnecessarily difficult cleanup. So I wanted to get a smaller, more traditional sized crock pot. This one fits the bill just right. It is ideal for cooking meals for 3-5 people with just enough left overs for lunches, yet it is also large enough to cook a roast in. Because the size of the crock pot is smaller than my other one, soups and stews are deeper, and tend to cook more slowly and evenly, even on the "high" setting. Roasts also cook more evenly because there is less air space surrounding them, so they don't require extra liquid to prevent them from drying out on the top half or boiling because they're submerged in liquid. Cleanup is also easier because there is less air space to dry & burn liquids / sauces onto the sides of the crock pot. This unit also has a handy latch system to latch the lid into place on each end. That makes for a much more airtight cooking experience, so foods cook faster and don't dry out. It's also very handy for transporting food inside the crockpot. The lid has a tiny steam vent and a rubber gasket that helps seal the lid when the lid is locked in place.

Best little gift I have bought myself!
Year ago I owned a six quart slow cooker of a different brand and had difficulties with it because it heated on the bottom and sides and the food would burn and have a burnt taste. I gave it away and swore off slow cookers forever but recently I borrowed one for baked beans for a party but I had to secure the lid with gaffers tape to transport. I liked the borrowed Crockpot...it did not burn my food and the size was four quarts, which was perfect for a double batch of baked beans. I thought I could use it with my other bean recipes as I am a vegan. I was concerned about the lead glaze controversy but I found Crockpot does not have a California Proposition warning in the "details" section as many other slow cookers, many of which are much more expensive. Crockpot also heats from the bottom. I ordered this Crockpot after Christmas and I made baked beans in it successfully, and two bean soups! No burning at all! The lid has a small hole in it to release steam, and there is a very nice rubber gasket adhering to the edge of the lid which keeps it in place. The lid has locks on the side for transporting so I will no longer need to use gaffers tape. You do NOT lock the lid in place while cooking, this is for transporting only. I am tickled with this purchase and I am planning ahead on what I can try next. Sweet potatoes! I read you can wrap them individually in foil and cook them on low heat for eight hours and they are perfect when done. This will be my next endeavor. Because of the lead glaze controversy I am choosing not to wash the crock in my dishwasher as the manual says I can, because I know any glaze can take a beating. I am choosing to gently wash the crock by hand. After using it for two bean recipes I noticed white spots on the interior of the crock which is common when slow cooking beans. The manufacture recommends white vinegar, so after washing with soap and water, I used a heavy hand with the white vinegar and slopped it all over the interior and let it sit for 30 minutes. I rinsed the vinegar and rewahed the crock with soap and water and the white spots disappeared! The spots are harmless, but I just wanted to keep the integrity of the original crock. This is my review and I couldn't be happier!! :-)

Solid construction, good to look at, and sooo easy to handle.
Just the right size for a single, healthy male, who doesn't like to spend too much time cooking, but who is someone who likes to eat tasty stuff, that is healthily. This is a simple unit, and it's a true crock pot, which is easy to use, easy to clean, and does the job so well. Solid construction, good to look at, and sooo easy to handle.

Good slow cooker, not great.
I like this crock-pot because it has a ceramic cook wear bowl in it and not a "non-stick" bowl that will get all scratched up. Even though it is not non-stick, it actually cleans much easier than my old Farberwear crock pot. It is a cool, deep red color that complements my black and stainless appliances. The handles to the lid anchor down onto some rotating clips that hold it down for travel, which is a nice feature for pot-lucks or tailgating. I would have given it five stars if there was a longer or retractable cord but the 4 foot cord just seems a bit short for the way my counters and outlets are set up. A six-foot cord would have been much better! It does tend to run hot so be aware that you will want to watch your first few makes in this one to avoid overcooking. Overall, a good crock-pot for the price, just not great.

Great product!
Works great! The lock works great except maybe the plastic feels little cheap on the sides as well as the knob. This thing is idiot proof though. So easy to use. Great for a bachelor who wants to make healthy meals that last all week. All you need is this 4-quart. Maybe one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon!

A great replacement for an old one.
We had gotten one for a wedding present back in the 70's that finally needed replaced so updated with this one . I like this one so much better. It has a wider opening instead of tall and narrow, which makes it easier to use. I like the locking handles because I use this size more for pot luck parties than home use. It has easy to use controls and is easy to clean and use. It kept the dish at a perfect serving temperature for hours so I knew the food was safe to eat. When taken to a party, it is easy for guests to dish out a serving. The serving spoon doesn't fall out or into the dish making it cleaner to use. The only thing I don't like as much is the cord is attached. Our previous one needed to have the cord replaced a few times and when it is detachable it is much easier and less expensive to just buy a new cord.

Had to import from the US market and so paid a huge amount totally, including import tax. Inspite of paying the large amount i hardly used it once coz the wire just melted when i connected it for the first time. Cannot be repaired.

Within 2 months and around a mere 2 usages, the product has stopped working. Unfortunately this happened post the amazon return period and now i am stuck with it. There looks like no service support for this in India. The customer care # that Amazon global service team gave also is invalid for this brand in India. Of the suggestion apart from staying away from this brand is that to be carefull while buying any brand that does not have a service centre in India. First check is when you are buying any product from amazons global store one could be running a risk if the product goes dead then there could practically be no help for you!.
