Calcium Acetate, Ultra Pure, 99% min. 100 Grams

This stuff works perfectly to make gelled alcohol. One other comment said it did not work - that person did not follow the recommend procedure. You can't just try and dissolve the stuff directly in alcohol! There are a couple key aspects that are needed: Use distilled water, NOT tap water. Make sure the vessel you are mixing in is very clean! Impurities will spoil the reaction! I mixed 1.5 teaspoons of the calcium acetate with 1 tablespoon distilled water in a clean cup. If it doesn't dissolve completely and at looks like there is a piece of plastic ribbon floating around in it after you stir it, your cup was not clean and the "ribbon" is the polymerization with the impurities. Reclean the cup and start over. Once you have a clear uniform solution, add 4 tablespoons denatured alcohol and stir. Let it stand and it will work as intended.
