Are they hot? I mean very very hot, I plan to buy some chile to do hot sauce, not for decoration.

They can vary sometimes, but overall, I do not not consider these hot chilies (such as habaneros or Scotch bonnets). Think of them as a sweeter jalapeno. Great for hot sauces (that's what I use them for). Also great for pickling along with jalapenos.

Is there a way to get them milder?

Cut out the interior ribs and seeds with a serrated apple corner.
