'Practice makes perfect' is as applicable to passing FE Exam as it is to anything else. This is the "Second Edition" of study guide and it is also centered on the idea of 'problem-based learning'. It contains over 500 focused problems with detailed solutions including Alternative-Item Types. It covers all sections of NCEES FE Electrical and Computer exam specification including: Mathematics โ Probability and Statistics โ Ethics and Professional Practice โ Engineering Economics โ Properties of Electrical Materials โ Engineering Sciences โ Circuit Analysis โ Linear Systems Signal Processing โ Electronics โ Power โ Electromagnetics โ Control Systems โ Communications Computer Networks โ Digital Systems โ Computer Systems โ Software Development. This study guide is specially designed to assist students in developing familiarity with NCEES FE Reference Handbook which is the only allowed reference material during FE exam. Students will find relevant reference details and section specific tips at the beginning of each chapter. Target audience of this book includes final year college students, new graduates as well as seasoned professionals who have been out of school for some time. Illustrations noteIllustrations, black and white Review: Passed on First Try - I only studied with this review book and the NCEES practice exam to pass the FE Exam. This review book is good if you learn better by consistently doing problems and repetition is key. After my first run through of the book I scheduled the exam for 1 month from then because I knew I just need a month of review. I would recommend running through the book first before scheduling. It took me 6 months of studying which was probably overkill. It was so long due to finding the discipline and consistency in my schedule. I reviewed this book three times and did problems I struggled with over an over again. This book provides a good foundation on the basic problems but I will say that some of the exam problems are a bit harder. If you can adapt and think it through youโll be fine with this book and the FE practice exam. If not I would suggest a harder supplemental review guide to learn harder questions. Overall, the exam is doable and you can do it! I believe in you! Review: Passed FE using this book as one of my primary study sources. Has my strong recommendation. - Summary: Not a resource for learning new material for the first time, and must be accompanied by other sources. Nonetheless, it is an amazing starting point for studying and is an invaluable tool for practicing solving problems. Cons: (1) Hardly dives into underlying theory or explanations of important concepts; however, this book is advertised as a set of practice problems, not a review text. So this isn't a fault of the author or the book, but it is something to keep in mind. (2) Some solutions are lacking and will say things not far from "the answer is A because it's A." For this reason, you'll need to go to other resources for clarification. (3) I found the notation in the digital systems section to be unclear, especially regarding flip-flops and clock cycles. This was frustrating because I lean way more EE than CpE so I really needed to review this section. However, once I was able to decipher the author's notation this section became a good resource. Pros: Just as advertised, hundreds of practice problems over all sections covered on the FE. You should definitely be using all the resources you have - texts, old notes, credible online sources, knowledgeable peers and teachers - in conjunction with this book. But if you use this book and those other sources thoroughly, you will be prepared to take the FE exam. Furthermore, since this book covers every section of the FE, it will force you to work on your blind spots/weak areas. Comparison to like products: If you have the means, then I also recommend you pick up the NCEES practice exam and one of Wasim's practice exams as well (prioritize the NCEES one though, since they are the source of the actual FE exam). The other popular review manual on the market is Lindeburg's. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow the Lindeburg review manual from a friend for free. Lindeburg's book has far fewer questions; however, his questions are generally more challenging than Wasim's questions and therefore will really test your understanding. Personally I didn't care for most of his actual review material beyond the problems... his explanations are long and yet not as good as an actual textbook or lecture on the particular topic. In summary, if you can get Lindeburg's book, do it because his practice problems are really good (the issue is there's just not many of them), but if you only have the means for one, then I recommend going with Wasim's book due to the huge quantity of practice problems.

This was a helpful key to passing the FE
This book was helpful in passing the FE. the book is written for version 9.5 of the test, and i took version 10. there were no version 10 study guides yet. I have been out of college for 13 years and this helped me pass. I would not rely on this alone but it really helped round out my studying. I also used the Michael Lindberg books. But those alone would not have helped me pass either. i needed both, and also the practice exam from NCEES. but this was part of the holy trinity to help me pass the FE. What i like: this book has better solutions than the lindberg book. Waisam does a better job of working out the problems to help you figure out where you went wrong when working them out on your own. areas for improvement: the sections were put in the book in a random order. i know this is a small complaint but it was something that confused me. Also, in the solutions, where the author said to refer to certain sections of the FE handbook did not correspond to the correct pages in the actual handbook (the book was written for version 9.5, i had both manuals and it did not line up with either of them) so that was a little annoying too. BUUUUUUUUUT long story short, if you want to pass, use this as part of your study plan. I will say that owning this book was not enough though, you have to actually do the problems in the book (duh) anyway, if i was doing it again i would buy his book.

Covers fundamentals, FE Exam will have harder questions!!!
I bought this book around graduation, and had a month and a half before taking the FE exam. This book is good for reviewing the fundamentals, but you should expect much more difficult questions on the FE exam . That being said, the only way to be prepared is to know the fundamentals (perhaps using this book) and use the NCEES Practice FE exam. Therefore, I recommend this book but with caution to acknowledge the difference in difficulty. I passed the FE first time using only this book, one of Wasim's practice exams, and the NCEES practice exam.

Very Good Source for FE Exam Prep
I graduated from Arizona State's online EE program this past May and purchased this book as well as a practice exam from NCEES to prep for the FE Exam. I went through the entire book once, working out every problem by hand. I then went through it a second time just hitting my problem areas from the first time around. After going through the book twice, I took the practice exam and felt very comfortable with the difficulty of the problems. I took the FE Exam this past Saturday and passed on my first try. My assessment is that the difficulty of the actual exam was very close to the difficulty of the practice problems in this book. If you can understand most of the solutions in this book, you're going to be fine on the FE Exam. I did find a couple of small errors in the book which I emailed the author about. He was always quick to reply with clarification and corrections when necessary. He also followed up with me the week before I took the test with some last minute pointers, and he checked in with me after taking the test to see how it went. He's clearly very passionate about helping people tackle this first step in their engineering career. There are a lot of very expensive FE Exam prep courses out there. My advice is to save your money and start with this book. Also, and I really can't stress this enough, learn how to use your calculator. Be very comfortable with complex numbers, vectors, matrices, and statistics functions.

The second edition is perfect!
This study guide is perfect, it completely covers the 18 exam topics that come on the Electrical and Computer Fe Exam , and it includes alternative item types. Each section has a lot of practice problems covering all of the concepts that are detailed for each topic on the exam specifications. Each section also contains the page numbers on the fe handbook where you can find the pertinent formulas to solve the problems, which greatly helps with getting familiarized with the handbook. You can also find step by steb solutions to all of the practice problems at the back of the study guide. As for the author, I have to say that is one of the best things about this book, each time I wrote to him, I received a response within 24 hours at the most. He is really dedicated in helping anyone who buys the book to pass the exam, and he always encouraged me to write to him if I had any questions. I took a review course at my university, which cost me over 500 dollars, and I have to say that this book has been way more useful than that for just a fraction of the cost. Update: Just found out that I passed! I mainly used this book, Wasim's practice exams 2 and 3, and the NCEES practice exam.

Great Review! Passed on the First Try
Highly highly recommend!! I used this book and the most recent version of this book to study. This book provided a great amount of examples. I found that the examples in this book were more challenging than the exam questions, which I believe really prepared me for the exam. The only thing was this book did not have as much detailed examples for the computer sections. I used other materials to study for this section.

its okay for prep
there are some mistakes in here which make it maybe not the best study tool. to me, there is so much prep material online that i regret spending the money on this.

Practical, Easy to read and great resource
I just passed my FE exam after reading this book and being away from the school for more than 20 years! It is a great resource, easy to understand which provides you with in-depth knowledge especially in math, and power. I gave 4/5 just because first new revision is needed as the FE reference book is just changed in July 2020 . Also I believe the book needs some improvement in the computer/IT sections to be deeper which I was weak on it. In overall I highly recommend this book and I am planning to give the PE book of Wasim a try for the PE Power exam.
