Wonderful Read
Read it all in one day. I love Katherine Center and this story was exactly what I had hoped for when I preordered it ages ago. Made me cry, laugh, gasp and I finished the book with a smile on my face and a warm glow in my heart. Perfect.

Opposites attract writers' romance
Aspiring writer Emma Wheeler is beside herself with joy when her ex (now a fancy schmanzy LA agent) asks her to help famous screenwriter Charlie Yates polish up a romantic comedy script. Unfortunately when she arrives, it turns out that she may have been oversold the role, Charlie doesn't know she's coming and he definitely doesn't want her help. Rather ungraciously Charlie agrees to let Emma stay the night in one of his guest bedrooms before flying back to the midwest, where she has been the sole caretaker for her father for the past 10 years after he had an accident while rock-climbing. Emma and Charlie really are a case of opposites attract, she's a true romantic, knows every rom-com movie off by heart, while he doesn't believe in love ... which is why his rom-com screenplay sucks. Even worse, his rom-com is an update to the all-time classic 'It Happened One Night', just without the romance, or the witty banter, but with added line dancing. Can Emma Obi-Wan Charlie to understand love and romance? I don't know why, but the title of this book really put me off, so I didn't request an ARC, but waited until it was 99p on Kindle (yeah, I know makes no sense not to request a free book but pay 99p) and I still don't like it. But otherwise I really loved the book.

No chemistry 🤨 but an easy feel good LA romance with a pet Guinea pig 💕
3⭐️s ⚠️TW ⚠️ - death of a parent, -parent injured, -carer to a sick parent. -Cancer. -Anxiety -grief -death of a pet Spice level 🌶️ (no spice just kissing) I loved learning about what goes into writing a movie/ screen play and at times the book seemed like a film studies lesson. I also liked in between chapters where the author/ character was speaking directly to you. And although I found the story sweet, funny and even though there was some really cute moments between the 2 characters like when he made her doughnuts for her birthday I just didn’t feel the romance connection between the 2 of them 🤷♀️. I also found the way they interacted with each other random at times and not believable considering the situation/plot. Even though I liked this book I didn’t like it as much as her other book ‘The Bodyguard’ which I gave 5⭐️s. I also found the end part of the epilogue depressing 😮I appreciate the message the author was trying to deliver but I read romances as escapism and the feel good factor 😩. Bonus points 🐹 I think this is the first book I have ever read where one of the characters had a pet Guinea pig found it refreshing from all the characters in books who have dogs.

My second book by this author and it’s another one I’ve really enjoyed. Loved the characters, thought Charlie was the perfect grump. Really liked the story, will read more

Really enjoyable
This was a lot of fun. Snappy, unpredictable dialogue, interesting characters, easy to read without being lame. Sweet and clever with the theme but not overdoing it.

it was alright
I liked quite a bit about it. The writing style was the best part, very similar to some of my favourite romance authors which made me get through it more easily. That being said the FMC was quite insufferable at times, her thought process and the way she behaved in certain situations didn’t make her real or relatable, just immature. The MMC was less annoying but I wish he just communicated better. Miscommunication trope is okay when it’s on a small scale but it felt like he was constantly keeping things from her. Plot was okay, a bit bland but I wish the author delved more into what it’s like to be a screenwriter. It felt very surface level like she didn’t do much research into what it’s about. Lots of filler scenes. I wasn’t fully convinced by the main character’s relationship tbh but the ending was cute and made it more believable. Was it a bit meh? Yes. Would I recommend it? Also yes. If you want something quick and fluffy to read that will make you go aww in some parts. Com was lacking, or maybe my humour is just dry.

Couldn't put down!
Read this book in two days! Brilliant! The one-liners throughout were hilarious, even when the story got sad in places. Wish I could afford Netflix & see Katherine's films too! ( Sad face!)
