Great kit, especially for beginners
My daughter is getting into crochet, and she has been struggling trying to figure it out on her own and with YouTube videos (haven't found any classes for her to take). She saw an ad for the Woobles and really wanted to try them. Those kits are $30+, so I got her one of those and this one. They're comparable, but this one is so much less expensive! She actually really likes the printed instructions that are included. The Woobles kit has no printed instructions but has online videos which are helpful for her to get started but less convenient to take camping or to do a second project with different materials. This kit, however, she thinks the printed instructions would be great to do future projects in different colors with her other yarns. This kit also had video instructions available, but I don't think she's looked them up yet. The quality of the yard is really good, comparable to the Woobles yarn, and the box it comes in is nice. It would make a great gift also. The highland cow is adorable! She's not even finished yet, but it's coming together so nicely! She said she'd definitely want some of the other kits from this company because they are just as nice if not better than the Woobles kits.

Penelope the pig
This is a great kit, and it really does come with everything you need to make the cute plush. I'm going to compare this item to a very popular crochet kit (rhymes with noodles) that costs twice as much. I actually started my crochet journey with that more expensive kit (and loved it). I wanted to try the Crochet Box because it was half the price, and it has some other cute animals that the other kit didn't... like Penelope the pink pig. The hook is a 3.5mm and feels much cheaper. While it says it's ergonomic, it's just not as comfortable as the other brand. The yarn is also much thinner, and not as soft and high quality as that other brand... this should be expected at half the cost. However, the yarn is crocheting nicely. This kit also has a pre started first round with the magic ring and 3 clips... very helpful for beginners!! I finished Penelope and still had plenty of yarn left over. The printed pattern directions are very easy to read. And there are video tutorials that are also pretty easy to follow even with the instructors accent. But honestly, I learned all the necessary stitches from the other name brand kit and sometimes will refer back to those tutorials over the Crochet Box tutorials. Overall, I prefer the yarn and hook from the more expensive kit. But I will continue to purchase the Crochet Box kits because the price is so much more affordable.

Such a Fun Project to do on a Lazy Sunday Afternoon
I had a lot of fun with this kit. I would suggest you have some basic crochet experience before taking on amigurumi. The kit included everything you needed. You should have basic tools like scissors already. It had the easy yarn and all colors needed, black thread for the finishing touches on the nose, metal and plastic yarn needles, safety eyes, stuffing, crochet hook, stitch markers, both PDF downloadable and written patterns which makes the value of the kit well worth it! The pattern was easy to follow for someone who is familiar with written patterns and crochet abbreviations, if you’re not someone familiar with the abbreviations, they include another set of instructions with this information. I did not have to use the video so unfortunately I can’t comment on the quality of the video tutorial. I had no issues with running out of yarn, I still had plenty leftover. I also ended up having leftover stuffing too. The instructions on how to sew the parts together was easy to follow. I’m someone who likes to crochet tightly for amigurumi to avoid the stuffing from peeking through, so my completed guy ended up measuring about 4.5 inches tall and about 5 inches wide ear tip to ear tip. I also did end up using the yarn under method rather than standard yarn over, I feel this stitch is better fit for this type of yarn. I would also recommend that you use the invisible decrease to make it look more smooth. Overall, this took me about 2.5 - 3 hours, but I’ve been crocheting a long time, so don’t feel bad if you need more time. I plan to purchase additional kits since I enjoyed doing this one very much on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Not great, not terrible
There were a lot of mixed reviews on difficulty level and instructions, I decided to give it a shot. The "instructions" are not really instructions, definitely not a step by step. The booklet basically just shows how to do all the many stitches that you can do in crochet. It's definitely NOT beginner friendly. I got it for my daughter (12) and she wouldn't have been able to do this herself, even having some knowledge already. It's not really for beginners. If you already have an idea of what you're doing, it's cute and comes with everything you need. It does come already started, which may or may not be helpful depending on the person. The videos were far more helpful than the booklet instructions, but still not the best. It's been a fun learning experience for my daughter, and the price is fair for what you're getting.

Great value arigurumi!
This is an excellent kit, and it's really cute. I think this particular pattern (the Highland Cow) would not be a good choice for your very first amigurumi as there are a few items that are a bit difficult. Videos are kind of helpful (if you've done this before and just need a refresher), but they aren't step-by-step instructions as in other kids. My only "complaint" would be in the videos, I wish they had split each section with a like a blank page that said "Nose" or "Ears" (like a white screen with words - not sure how to describe it) so if you were just looking for one part of the 20-minute video, it would be easier to find.

The Pattern is Wrong
As you can see by my x’s, I’ve torn and remade the stitch pattern multiple times. I’m a math girl, and found out this is mathematically a bad pattern. It will leave the white rows wonky, it counts 28 stitches in row 11 but if you mathematically add the moves done from row ten to eleven, you’ll see it will give you 33 stitches. This is cute, but if this is your first crochet kit be warned: you are not the problem, the pattern is. I recommend trying the highland cow kit. It is accurate and a lot easier for beginners.

Affordable, adorable, but need more yarn!
It came with everything I needed except enough yarn to finish the project. If you have basic knowledge of stitching, the pattern is easy to read. As a beginner I was happy to have the stitch book for a quick reference! Overall it’s more affordable compared to woobles but now I have to buy more yarn and risk not matching exact colors 🥴
