i'm very pleased with this item. It's sturdy. Any side is not flimsy like some I have experienced. Long 1/4 inch screws are provided and worked perfectly going through the 5/8 inch sheet rock behind them. Filters fit great. Nice thing about the 12" x 12" that I bought is that you can depending on how you want it to open. Very nice quality product. I'm getting a 20" x 16" from them also.

I got these HVAC duct covers to replace some ancient ones in my home. I used to have to unscrew the old ones from the wall just to change filters. Well...eventually you get tired of this and start to do less frequent filter changes. Not good. Not for your health nor your HVAC equipment. For some reason, this is a weird size because filters in this size are not as readily available and brand options seem limited. I don't really know why. Anyway, when I found these in 18" X 12", I had to get them. Install was pretty straightforward. I have two of these in my house. I just removed the old dinosaurs and these fit almost perfectly into my duct openings. I say almost because one needed a bit of soft persuasion with a rubber mallet. But that's a duct issue, not the fault of the cover. Once that was taken care of, it's just a matter of screwing them into place for a permanent hold. All in all this took about 15 minutes in my case. They're lightweight, unobtrusive and modern looking. The cover opens from the frame easily via the two locking tabs for quick and easy filter changes and I'm so glad I was able to find these in the size I needed. Give these a try if you're looking to upgrade some older duct covers or need some for a new project.

Needed a replacement after the original grate in my home was damaged. I looked everywhere with no success and then located this one. All mounting points lined up and the latch is stronger. Great find and makes my home look complete.
