Greenworks 40V 12" Cordless Compact Chainsaw (Great For Storm Clean-Up, Pruning, and Camping), Tool Only

only gripe I have is it didn’t come with a clamp on sharpener, I’ve used it so much already shy of a year. It’s light and a little work hoarse even though its battery driven, its amazing to not deal with gas and ruckus for simple yard stuff.

This product has been great. I even made a video reviewing it (enjoy our yard on youtube). It's perfect for smaller jobs. I was able to cut through a 6 inch trunk with no problems. I've used it for the whole summer and the chain came off a few times. Very easy to put back on. The tension knob makes any adjustments very easy to keep the chain tension. I already had some greenworks batteries so it made the decision very easy. I had an electric craftsmen saw but it was a pain when the chain came off. I didn't want a gas powered one as I only use it maybe a handful of times per season. This has been amazing!

Works great

I had ordered this chainsaw and it sat around the house for a little while before I got around to using it. When I started using it, after about two battery changes the chain wouldn't stay on the saw. I could not tension it enough to get the chain tight to stay on no matter what I did. I ordered a new chain thinking this one just got stretched out. I ordered an Oregon chain here on Amazon and this chain would not tension either. I was past my return window and now have a paperweight GreenWorks chainsaw. I don't recommend this product and won't be buying it again.

I was concerned that this wouldn't be powerful enough to do what I needed. I was very happily surprised! This tool is extremely easy to use, and powerful enough to cut through everything I've tried so far. I live in a very wooded area, and I'm not taking down any trees, but this saw easily chewed through some serious branches. And the battery has lasted long enough for every job so far. Highly recommend it.

I finally burnt out the motor on my original saw and bought the new model. I liked the old model better. It was easier to adjust, tension, and use. The new tension dial is harder to work and not very intuitive. The battery is under the handle, like some of the other Greenworks tools, but I liked the forward weight of the old model. The safety switch is for righthanders, not in the middle like the old model. The only thing I like better about the new model is the oiler fill port. All that being said, it still cuts well, for a small saw, but the chain tends to come off more often.

I like this chain saw. It is very light weight. It cuts pretty good. My autistic son does a better job with it than I do. It is easy to use. Tightening the chain is not too hard. The chain oil lasts a long time. But the battery life is stupidly short. We can only cut down 3 small trees at a time, before having to recharge. Re charging is pretty quick though, maybe an hour. It is very quiet. I like this a lot! Shape and design are pretty good too.

When we received the product, none of out three Greenworks 40V batteries fit the chainsaw. It is my understanding now that there are two different 40V GreenWorks platforms. You have to make sure you are getting the right one. I believe you have to be careful if you are ordering in Canada. You may get the incompatible version
