I’ve been very impressed with the Launch X-431 PROS so far. The scanner offers deep system access, bi-directional controls, and a wide range of service functions that make diagnosing and repairing vehicles much easier. The interface is straightforward, scans are fast, and it provides detailed fault information beyond basic OBD scanners. It has already helped me identify and resolve multiple vehicle issues efficiently. Overall, this is a solid, professional-grade diagnostic tool and a great value for anyone serious about vehicle diagnostics or DIY repairs.

Great scanner with many walk throughs on features. Upon clicking special functions you are prompted with necessary parameters to carry out the tasks. Very user friendly and has access for many higher end vehicles as well!

I own and regularly use top-tier scan tools from Autel and TOPDON that are significantly more expensive than this unit and this is still the scanner I grab for almost every car. Capability-wise, it has everything I need for day-to-day diagnostics: full system access, strong bi-directional controls, service functions, coding/adaptations on supported vehicles, and clean, usable live data. It does real diagnostic work, not just code reading. What makes it stand out is usability. The smaller, lighter tablet makes it fast to grab, easy to move between vehicles, and far less cumbersome than larger flagship tools. It boots quickly, connects reliably, and just gets out of the way so I can work. Another big advantage is seamless fault reporting and data sharing. Reports are easy to generate and export, which is huge for documentation, communication, and workflow efficiency in a professional environment. It also runs full Android with access to the Google Play Store, allowing installation of reference apps and other tools I actually use in the shop. Even with higher-end scanners on hand, this has become my everyday, grab-and-go diagnostic tool. That says more than specs ever could.

This Launch X431 PROS V 5.0 scan tool is one of the most deceptive and poorly supported products I have ever purchased. It is advertised as a professional diagnostic and bidirectional tool for advanced vehicle systems, yet it performs nothing close to what is promised. I purchased this for my 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS 550. The listing claims full system compatibility and deep module diagnostics. In reality, this is a non–North American version with incomplete coverage and translation errors throughout the software. It can read only the most basic fault codes and provides no meaningful data for any of the complex Mercedes modules it claims to support. Worse, the tool writes to Mercedes control units in the wrong coding language. Using Mercedes Xentry software I picked up after the fact along with a certified Merc Mechanic, I confirmed that the commands sent by this tool do not match Mercedes’ diagnostic protocols and language . This is extremely serious. It does not simply fail to work — it actually writes incorrect data to the car’s computers. In my opinion, this practice is an illegal bait and switch. The tool convinces users that it has completed certain functions, but in reality, it masks or corrupts them. When I attempted to reset a simple service interval, the result was a corrupted ECU entry and an absurd warning on my dashboard stating that the vehicle was 300 years past due for service. There is no customer support, no warranty process, and no recourse. This product should not be sold as a professional tool. It is dangerously misleading, and Amazon should investigate this manufacturer and hold them accountable for false advertising and potentially unlawful coding behavior. If you are a professional technician or even a capable DIY owner, avoid this product at all costs. Seven hundred dollars wasted on a device that should not be trusted to connect to any vehicle. I would not even use this tool on a bicycle.

I'm not a professional mechanic but have worked on cars and motors for over 50 years. I maintain and do most of my own repairs. I have had basic scanners for years. This tool is has so far been very impressive at helping me to diagnose one of our vehicles. It does live data and resets that speeds up repairs.

It's very fast and easy to setup.With step by step instructions. The tablet it self it's very comfortable in size and well protected by a rugged case and built for durability as well as the carrying case.It downloaded all updates with out a problem. It only took a few min to download 50+ updates I did buy the Bluetooth battery tester with it. I'll update in a few weeks after use. But so far The first impression it's 5⭐'s. Very powerful and comprehensive bi-directional scan tool, but a challenge for a neophyte to learn how to use effectively. I have used it to reset service reminders in two Audi vehicles and a Porsche and to scan a Nissan Murano. It's very convenient for creating a pre-work diagnostic statement that can easily be saved on the device, and later referred to, and then used to create a post-repair or post-service report, and even send that via email to a customer or other person. But it's quite a challenge to those who are not familiar with using this scanner to learn how to effectively use its many capabilities. I've found my iCarsoft POR 3.0 easier to use for some scans and finding detailed data on many items and systems including live data but the LAUNCH scanner is far more powerful and can record live data and graphically display up to 12 items concurrently. The bi-directional capability is very useful for testing various items on a vehicle and zeroing in on what is the actual cause or source of the fault, e.g. for a power window the wiring or the motor or the switch. Updates are very easy. LAUNCH notifies you of each available update for the many vehicles that are covered and some separate modules. Whatever I have chosen to update has thus far worked flawlessly, and that is displayed in real time on the excellent display screen. I have owned this tool about 8 months. Battery capacity is excellent and allows me as a part-time user to go for months before needing to recharge. The remote WiFi dongle that attaches to the OBD port on the vehicle also works very well in communicating with the scan tool. That makes it easy to focus on the screen of the scan tool while you sit in a seat inside the vehicle or go outside of the vehicle to do something under the hood or under the vehicle. My single but significant gripe is that LAUNCH doesn't appear to make available a good set of training videos for people who buy this or similar LAUNCH branded scan tools. Instead, I have had to learn what I can by watching various YouTube videos most of which are for different models or even different brands of scan tools. The terminology for the same item is not universal throughout the automotive industry which makes identifying the specific item or problem you are needing to learn about a challenge. Even within the product line produced / marketed by LAUNCH, terminology and organization within one scan tool may be different than for the identical item in another LAUNCH brand scan tool

This scanner was a great investment! It has paid for itself time and time again! I am able to diagnose any issues completely and accurately! I do not have to worry about finding the time and money to take my vehicles to a shop to only be given a generic list of codes. It updates quickly with no issues and seems to have everything that I need in a scanner. If you are looking at purchasing a bidirectional scanner, give these a chance, I believe you will be very happy once you do!
